My 17 year old son wants to take his CR250 to Parowan this July (mid) when he visits his grand parents. He's a SoCal desert racer. I don't think there's much riding around Parowan from what I know so maybe further south? I don't want him riding alone in an unfamilar area. Would anyone in the area be willing to take him out riding while he's there? He's got a truck to haul the bike and is a good rider, very responsible kid. We're still in the negotiation phase as far as him taking the truck/bike but this is one of the conditions so it's not definite. Just seeing if a buddy is possible, thanx.

Hey guys, 3 friends and I are driving out to Utah in a couple weeks. Our plan is to spend 3 days riding near Moab, and then start working our way up to Salt Lake City to ski. We would like to do 2 more days of riding somewhere northwest of Moab, on the way to SLC. We are looking for single track, preferably something with trees to contrast the Moab riding. We are all good riders and like technical stuff (short of sheer drop offs ), and will be on plated 450/500cc enduro bikes. I've never been out to Utah, but I've made a couple riding trips to Colorado (Ouray and Crested Butte/Taylor Park). I know most of the Colorado trails are closed this time of year due to the snow and elevation, but we are not sure what to expect as we get closer to SLC. Please give us some trail recommendations. Can someone suggest some lodging ideas for the first week in mMay. How about bike storage? All we have is an open truck and open trailer. Is there any problems with stolen bikes from the hotel parking lots? We have discussed getting a storage unit. A clean hotel is fine,a fancy one is not needed.

Hello All- I'm out here in Moab for the Easter Jeep Safari and brought my new to me WR450 (plated). Turns out 20 years off a dirt bike left me rustier than I'd hoped. I did the slick rock practice loop a few times but don't have the confidence or mobility yet for some of the quick switch backs so I bailed pretty early into that main trail. I then went and played on Fins & Things and had a blast but ran into a few issues. First, the deep sand kicked my @$$ and I'm still not confident enough to try the steep climbs (going down them is a breeze) while riding alone. I've read all the ride recommendations for Moab but was hoping those with experience could point me towards an easier ride that I'll have fun on. I was thinking Behind the Rocks but is that very technical? 20 years of street bikes has gotten me soft so consider me a relative newbie. TIA-Stretch

Well... it looks like I'll be in Washington Utah for a the week of May 21st through the 28th! Does anyone want to show me some of the local gnarly single track? I have a trials bike and a 450 I'm going to bring down. I can't wait to ride somewhere with traction!

Departure date 6/11/2011 @ 5:00am, Bishop and I head out to Utah to explore the Henry Mountains & Dixie National Forest. Dean wife was nice enough to get up at 4:00am and whip up a half pound of thick sliced Wrights bacon for a snack along the way!! The roads North of Shiprock and the Four Corners area are totally desolate and resemble the surface of Mars. Needless to say, without any traffic around we could make some great time on the mighty GS Adventures!! We got to the Moki Dugway around 9 am and headed up. Bishop Shortly after we reached the ferry at Lake Powell to head across through Ticaboo and into the Henry Mountains for a quick taste before we reached our hotel in Torrey, Utah.

Bought the 530 new last year so it came with DOT tires, but I went to get my stickers this year and apparently I have to have a safety inspection done on the bike. I am hoping they don't require you to have DOT tires on to pass the safety inspection, but I have a gut feeling the do. Can anyone comment on this? -
We are going to stay in Woodland Hills Utah for a week or so around Memorial weekend (east foothills above Payson). and taking our bikes with us. I know there is Little Sahara close by, just west of 15 freeway via hwy 6. But that's OHV park. Is there an extended network of trails/ fire or old mining roads in that area? We are both street legal, plated in AZ, both, my husband and I, ride KTM 525. Looking for larger ground to explore and play for several days. Being from SoCal originally and living 50/50 in AZ and Orange County we both like desert type riding rather than woods. So, my attention is to the west, to the desert toward Nevada. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

We are a young family of four who LOVE to ride. Can anyone recommend a great family place to meet other families who also ride? My son is 6 and rides a KTM 50, I ride a Honda 250xjr and my hubby a KTM 450. Are there any local clubs? Any help would be great! PS When does all this snow go away?

Looking for riding partner. I am going to be near Moab from March 2nd to 9th and wanted to give the infamous 5 Miles of Hell trail a run on one of those days on my trials bike. But I am there solo and won't do it without a compadre or more. The local guides are cool, but they are too expensive for a solo rider and there are no groups setup yet for me to join. So it may be a long shot, but is there anybody interested in riding the 5 Miles of Hell trail in San Raphael/Green River area any day(s) from March 2-9? To check compatibility... I am 49, life long trail/B-Enduro rider riding a GasGas280 trials bike (which I just got last year so Observed Trials is a new addiction), but I will also have a plated KTM400EXC for exploring "normal" trails in the area. I will be driving down from Logan, UT. Average temps for March are highs in the 50s and lows in the 30s. Two of us are going for our weekly ride at Little Sahara tomorrow morning. We need some intermediate/advanced riders to make us feel slow again. We leave Saratoga Springs around 8 and are back by 1 or 2 PM. We do a 40-50 mile loop of fast sand trails. I know it's short notice - it always is. Chris 801-836-1114

The wife and I are heading to tropic reservoir campground outside of ruby's inn from 9-8 to 9-15. We ride dirt bikes and are just cruising around for the week if anyone wants to join in. Last time we were there they were just closing up the campground as far as "offically" be open but was still open. We figured we offer an open invitation if anyone want to join in. A few of us from Ohio will be going to Moab to ride for a week. Another rider here gave us some trials tires (rear) that are almost new condition. Two of them are Michelin Trial Competition and two are IRC TR 011R's. I've seen some comments that neither of these tires are suitable use on asphalt above 40mph for any distance. Comments have indicated that after a few miles above 40mph, the center knobs start to fall off. While the majority of our time will be spent on slow trails, we will often be riding asphalt above 40mph to get to, or connect trail sections. We'll also be riding some miles on fast dirt roads. So, will these tires hold up under highway use? Will they likely hold up better if we use higher pressures like 15+psi for road sections, then reduce pressure for trails? Or, should we instead buy some DOT trials tires like the Pirelli MT-43? Also, please let us know any other tips. What psi do you run? We will likely run heavy duty tubes in both types of the tires. My buddies and I are heading out to Marysvale next week for a long weekend. We are staying at Hoovers. Second time there are the any good single track trails around marysvale? Any suggestions for places we can ride to from Marysvale would be appreciated. I would like to get off of the main trail if possible. Any info would be appreciated. And if you ever head out to Jersey I can return the favor.

Hi all, Going to be in Utah in late Oct or early November depending on the weather in Idaho and Washington. I didn't manage to ride Utah on my last trip, was too late in the season, but am enamoured with the State and would like to see as much of it as I can. I'm on a riding trip, bringing my tent trailer and am looking for anyone who has some time on their hands and would like to show somebody new to the area around - can, and will pay for guiding services in beer, scotch, or whatever you like... ;-) Would really like to hit Moab, if only for a few days just to see it, but am more interested in the out of the way stuff that is a little more quiet and where we can just ride into some great country. I'm on a Ktm250XC, (Was considering bringing my trials bike too, but it's too much to haul/get stolen...) will be bringing a knobby along with my trials tires, and am up for pretty much anything. The bike isn't really set up for wide open desert riding, but if there is something in the sand worth seeing I'd be keen. Mostly a technical single track rider as I live on the British Columbia Coast, and am happy to explore or have a tough technical ride. Most of our stuff here is steep, ugly, wet, rocky, and rooty - looking forward to some dry trails! Leaving British Columbia next week and heading into Washington State first, before working my way South. If anyone is up for some riding, I'd like to hook up. I am very flexible and portable with the trailer, and I have no fixed schedule for the trip at all. Couple months of play time coming up! Thanks in advance, graham

So, I understand that Colorado will now require plated dual sport motorcycles to have a Colorado OHV sticker as well to leagally ride on trails. I will be riding into Utah and around Moab this spring. Does anybody know if Utah also requires a Utah OHV sticker on plated dual sport bikes when used on their trails? -

I'm heading over Friday morning and hope to get a ride in Friday afternoon. Leaving on Sunday. Looking for some guys to ride with and show me around. I'm up for about anything except jeep trails. I would actually love to do 5MoH if I can get somebody to show me the way but whatever you ride I'm up for it. If anybody is up for this weekend let me know. The 8 guys that were going have pretty much grown vaginas, Not you Mark (you know who you are) 👍 so I'm probably gong to be heading out solo and just ride whatever.
