  1. Posted this in the Idaho forum but the job possibility is for Utah and Oregon, too. Paste... Received a message yesterday from Mathew, a lifelong friend who is the international marketing director for a computer memory company. He asked if I knew anyone who fit the following criteria for an opening his motorcycle accessory marketing director friend is seeking. I've spread the word but thought this forum would be a great option. Here is the copy/paste I received: "...based on my conversations with him, some of the specifics would include: someone who has both marketing and sales experience for pro, amateur, and recreational riders. Understands how to quickly build distribution/reseller channels, plan & execute on mktg events, strong understanding of web-marketing tools (including SEO), effective at evaluating the ROI of mktg events...looking to grow a small, yet recognized brand. Someone who can recognize and capitalize on new product opps. Probably should be located in either Idaho, Oregon or Utah. (that should get things started)" If you know someone who may fit the bill please PM me (as with most job searches posting in a public forum is NOT a good idea if you're an interested candidate). It'd be nice if that person had an online resume or website, but I understand many do not. I will fwd all resume and letter of qualifications to my friend and see where it leads. That is all the info I have. As with many job openings they do not tell the company, salary, etc. Please do not shoot the messenger. Just trying to help a fellow Northwester (is that a word?) out. I'm on vacation and borrowed a friend's friend's laptop to post today (the Blackberry was not meant for writing more than two sentences at a time before your head explodes and fingers go numb). So if you know anyone this may be a good "in."
  2. Does anyone know if there's snow in caineville? Dying to ride!
  3. Calling on riders in the SLC area... I'm fairly new to the area and I'm finding it very difficult to find serious people to ride with. I also don't know the area very well but I'm fairly skilled and just love to ride. Anyhow, if anyone is ever looking for someone to ride with and wants to get out, please PM me. I'd like to head to St.George this next weekend if anyone is game!!
  4. Hi, We are planning on riding in or near St. George in early January and plan on camping/sleeping in our 4runner. Just wondering if anyone here had suggestions for a good place, primitive camping is ok. We hope to ride the Santa Clara OHV area just outside of town so somewhere close to that would be ideal. Thanks!
  5. I just saw this on the news. My thoughts are with his family. Truly a sad deal. http://www.ksl.com/?nid=148&sid=8844153
  6. Hello I will be driving to SLC area in a couple weeks to meet a buddy who moved there a year ago. Our plan is to ride for 3 solid days. Since he moved there a year ago he hasn't explored dirtbike areas to a great extent due to work. So to make the trip worth it I'd like to get some input on riding opportunities. Our skill level is intermediate to expert and we prefer single track. Depending on the level of difficulty we will be putting in 40 to 80 miles per day. He has mentioned American Fork and Cherry Creek. I would also like to check out a scenic area such as Moab for one of the days but don't know where in Moab. I'm driving from Portland, OR so if you know this area the riding I like around here is Gifford Pinchot. Recommendations for the three days would be appreciated. Thanks.
  7. Typically the wife and I have been heading to the trail system close to Bryce national park, and through the Beaver area. We really like the camping towards the tropic reservoir area. Any ways we would like to find something like that around the salt lake city area. We are driving from los angeles up on the 15 fwy so we could stop on the way back to someplace. We are looking for place the wife can ride here dirt bike at and make easy to mid hard trips, mostly sight seeing stuff. we like camping where its cool and trees. we have a 36' fifthwheel that we would need to get into any area. Any thoughts or suggeations, plaxes to look into? Thanks Doug
  8. I am here to tell all you peeps who do not know that Moab motocross track is up and running!Have been riding there every weekend for the past month and it has been sweet, they have been grooming and improving this already gnarly track.Lets ride people!👍
  9. Anyone know if the snow is melted off? We rode Green River last week and it was fine but anyone been up on the swell?
  10. Went Riding near Halls Ferry on lake Powell. Tried to get to the eastern side of Hole in the Wall but the trail got real technical and I turned back. Has anyone made this ride ?
  11. So I see they're holding a WORCS in Brianhead in mid July. I'm a big fan of the mountain biking there, epic singletrack. I'm an intermediate moto rider, never raced. Not a fan of desert, GP, or even most WORCS stuff as I much prefer technical alpine singletrack over WFO bombing. That said, I know Brianhead doesn't have a dedicated MX track and I was thinking (hoping) the course would be predominantly singletrack. Curious if there's any inside info as to what a course there may be like? Have they ever held a race there before? I'm not a fan of riding in dust or trying to force an issue on somebody on singletrack or for that matter paying $ to ride but this could be the one locale that would convince me to give it a try if it used any of the awesome singletrack there...dark hollow, bunker creek, others... Anybody got any info?
  12. Hey all, I'm looking to find out more about riding in the Provo Utah area. There is a chance I'll be out there for an extended time in the near future and would like to be able to ride a few times a week. Do people own land nearby that's good for riding that are open to new riding buddies? How about clubs? Are there any smaller clubs with areas to ride? What sort of drive do you have to make to get to some of the larger public riding areas or private parks? How much do they run usually? What's the racing like in regard to hare scrambles? I'm a B-class rider and would love to join anyone at any level if they have a place to ride near the area. Please PM me or post here if you've got info. Thanks!
  13. Hey guys, we're going to Moab this weekend and would like toi watch the SX Sat nite. Any suggestions on which sports bar may be the best to watch it on TV. Thanks for the recomendations Max
  14. Boy I can't wait. There are 11 of us heading to Moab the end of the month. This will be our second trip. We went the same time last year. Who would have thought a 16 hour drive to go riding would be worth it. Any one else gonna be riding that area the end of the month?
  15. This is my first post and i'd like to say hi to everyone. I live in Ogden, UT and love to ride sand dunes and a little track. Tomorrow is gunna be in the low 50's at Jericho and I was gunna go down there to ride. Thing is, nobody I know wants to go and I'd rather, for safety reasons, ride with a few people. Anyone going? Mike
  16. hey guys i might be moving to sandy,ut in a year or so!! im moving out of CA due to ridiculousness. hows the riding and people up over there? i hear alot about non-mo hate but is it all true?

  18. If you're a Moab rider or a rider dreaming of Moab, I've started an online group on Facebook. Please link in and connect with other Moab enthusiast. Please upload pictures, trail advice and dates you'll be in Moab. With your help, we can create an online resource for Moab riders. http://www.facebook.com/pages/Moab-Riders/179964395373342
  19. Hi, I'm planning a trip out to Moab to do some riding in late April. I'm here in California and am trying to get as much info as possible before I head out to make sure the trip is as awesome as possible. So here are my questions for those who ride the area. What are: The best tires to run? The best areas to ride? (klx 300 not street legal) The best places to camp? Any info will be well appreciated. Thanks.
  20. I need the help of a fellow Thumpetalk rider. My Dad will be turning 90 this fall and we are having a big surprise birthday party for him. He lives in St. George but the rest of us will be flying in for the party. My Dad loved to ride motorcycles but has not for many years. He has always talked about how he wants to ride one more time before he dies. I would like to give him the opportunity to ride a dirt bike (in a non dirt enviroment) at his party on Friday October 19th. What I need is a small 4 stroke dirt bike 125 or smaller (make does not matter) but an auto clutch would be ideal. Dad is only 5'7 so a small bike is needed. He will be riding in a Church parking lot only. I just want him to be able to check this off his bucket list. If you know of a bike I could borrow for a couple hours late afternoon on Friday October 19th please let me know. Thanks Paul 916-259-3792
  21. Yeah I'm a little iffy if this is allowed so I'm just going to post this up real quick. For those Utahns on here I wanted to let you know I'm selling my bike on HERE for now, not ksl. So if you want first dibs let me know. (it's in the dirt bike classifieds section) peace.
  22. Despite the worries, the weekend in Moab turned out awesome. We made the 7 hour trek down, arriving at our home away from home. The oddly named "Watermellon House". It was a little hostel/rental unit that looked to be a doublewide trailer with furnishings from the 70's. It wasn't the Hilton, but that wasn't what we were there for. After sleeping like a baby that night we woke up to a sunshiny day at about 60 degrees. Our guide/neighbor led us up to the Sand Flats recreation area, and we unloaded the trailer to head out on Fins and Things. The trail was awesome, there's a great mix of slickrock, sand and regular old dirt terrain, and was a good warm up for some of the other big trails. There were a couple spots that we had to walk the girls bikes down, but some of them have only been riding a handful of times. Overall they did well though. After running around on Fins and Things we went up Porcupine Rim. I had read things online saying that it was fairly technical, but they were mountain bike stuff, and our neighbor said it was an okay ride. I'm going to be honest, I nearly shat myself a few times on the run. I was riding second behind our neighbor, and there were a couple times where the best line was right next to the . . . um . . . cliff. Not a pleasant thought, plummeting to your death. The girls started to tire after a few of the rock patches (that we basically had to ride their bikes through as they walked up them) so we split off onto the unofficial UPS trail. None of the girls wanted to go back through what they had come up, and I didn't either frankly. So we ran up UPS until it hooked up with the main road. That's where the fun began. For the next few miles, we coasted down the road. It was pretty cool being able to just shut your bike off and hear the wind whip through your helmet. But, me and my little TT-R could barely keep up momentum on the small uphills, so i would have to turn my bike on occasionally. Right as we hooked up with the trailhead of porcupine, we all stopped to regroup. But my mom didn't follow up for a minute. My sister-in-law had a vantage point where she could see a curve down the road and asked. "Why is Adrienne laying on the ground?" Well, my dad took off. I have never seen that WR450 go that fast in my life. I could tell from the pitch of the bike (and later the GPS reading) that he was haulin' ass back. Coming around a corner, my mom tapped the front brake, locking up, and skidding along the ground for about 10 feet. Thankfully, with full gear, a good helmet, and a whole lot of luck, she did okay. Although she had a headache for the next day and a half no matter how much Advil she pumped in, so we think she had a minor concussion. We're just glad she made it out with only that. Deciding to call it a day, we loaded the bikes up, showered back at "home" and drove over to Eddie McStiffs. The prices were a little more than we were hoping for since we had spent over $1000 on gas to drive down and the rental alone, but my $13 was worth it. It was cooked to perfection and it was as tender as any cut of meat i have ever tasted. The next day we packed up and hit the Slickrock Trail. This time, i was stoked. Everyone I had talked to said to run this, and it was definitely worth it. Slickrock has to be one of the weirdest terrains to ride on. I could run up hills that i would never be able to make on dirt. That stuff has GRIP. My brother tore 5 nobs off his front tire and snapped his handguard in half, my dad got a flat tire and my sister smashed her footpeg good. My dad, sister and I were able to get some fun shots with the GoPro, and overall the trail was just a blast. On a side note, I came up a hill in second, didn't think i was going to make it so i clicked down into first, the front tire lifted up and I was riding the back tire for a good 10 feet up the hill. My mom thought i was going to die, but my dad thought it looked pretty cool. Mom backed out after the practice loop and took a nap in the Suburban when we road the main loop. It was a wise decision. The trail wasn't really difficult from a technical standpoint, but she just doesn't have the endurance to run the trail. We never told the other girls that it was actually rated as an Advanced trail. They did great though. Well, over all I can say that even the two days i spent down in Moab made for one of the best weekends of my life. I have never had so much fun on two wheels. Anyone that's thinking about going to Moab . . . DO IT! It's well worth it.
  23. Anyone on here going to the Dirtwise school in Price next weekend?
  24. We had such a good time in Moab last year, we came back for more. Pics are in the link below. http://s681.photobucket.com/albums/vv174/99klr250/Moab%202011/?albumview=slideshow On our drive out from Ohio, we stopped to briefly ride the trails above Eagle, CO. Monday through Friday in Moab went as follows. Mon. Slick Rock Trail in the a.m. Lunch at the Moab diner. Porcupine Rim in the afternoon. Tue. Sovereign, Salt Wash and Upper Sovereign Trail. Wed. Near White Wash dunes we rode the Enduro loop and some other trails Thur Gemini Bridges, Golden Spike and Bull Canyon. Fri Steelbender, Kane Creek and a little bit of Amasa Back. While we were there we met and rode with a couple of great guys from Colorado. On our way home we stopped for another brief ride in Colorado, this time at Bocco Mountain. The weather for the entire trip was perfect, as it usually is this time of year. We look forward to returning again.
