Hello, I have a 2004 yz250f that I just did a full engine rebuild on and when going to measure my valve clearance I noticed that the intake valve farthest from the cam chain has a clearance that is way too big (higher than .5mm). That valve in particular has a size 185 shim in it. Comparing the cup height to the intake valve closest to the cam chain it appears to be sitting a whole mm lower. The cam shaft was inspected and appears to be in spec. Does anyone know what might be wrong? They’re brand new valves and the valve seats have been checked by a shop and just required a lapping which they did.

Hi I have a 2006 kx 250f and I just reset the valve clearance as one of the exhaust valves was at .34mm and both intake valves were At .25mm I have got them correct now my question is will I have to reset the fuel mixture screw after doing this?

Okay so I need some advice. I have a 14' kx450f and I just went to check the valve clearances. The manual specs are exhaust: (0.017 - 0.022) and intake: (0.010 - 0.015). The left exhaust measured at 0.020 and the right exhaust at 0.019. The left intake at 0.010 and the right intake at 0.011. I know they are technically in spec but my question is should I shim the intake because they are on the tighter end of the spec or just leave them alone? Bike starts and runs fine just a routine check but wanted some opinions. Thanks in advance!

Hello everyone, I own a 2002 Yamaha Wr250f. I bought the bike used with 160 hours on it and used it for almost 50 hours, mostly hard enduro. Everything was working fine with it, until recently, when I decided to check the valve clearance because I had the time and because most forums (and the repair manual) say that they need to be checked regularly. Also, I was curious if the performance of the bike would get better after adjusting the valves. Ive found that most valve clearances were smaller than what the manual says (measured 0.05 for the intake and 0.1 for exhaust compared with the specified 0.1-0.15 for intake and 0.17-0.22 exhaust). Bought new shims, installed them, made sure the clearances are within spec and started up the bike. No problems, easy start, good idle. After, I took it for a test drive. First hour of riding (trail, high rpm, hill climbs) I really noticed how the bike's performance was much better than before. Then suddenly, I started noticing power loss. Something like if someone was pushing the kill button while i was pulling on the gas. Like if a limiter was put in it and couldn't go above a certain rpm. Have no idea why. 1. I cleaned the air filter before the test ride. Did i put too much oil(spray) on it? I used Motul air filter spray before, which had a blueish color, so it was easy to see how much is too much, but now Im using Liquimoly, which is transparent. But then why did I notice only after 1 hour of riding? 2. Did I do something wrong when adjusting the valves?or when putting the top end back together? But then why did I feel the performance boost in the first 1 hour? 3. Could be something else, not related to the valve adjustment? I'm mechanically inclined, so I do what I can on my own using youtube, this website and the repair manual. However, I'm not a mechanic, so I have no idea what to do now. You guys have any suggestions/ideas? Please ask any questions that you need to know, so that you can try to help me. Thank you! Your help is very much appreciated
