  1. Hey everyone I just moved to Virginia Beach (Southeastern Virginia) and I am looking for some places to ride. After some research I have found a couple of tracks that are within 2 hours away from me (Slades Park, Elizabeth City MX, Morgans Corner, and River City) but I also want to know if there are any local trails that are free to ride. I read about a place called ORF Dirt Pit but I'm not sure if that is still there. Does anyone know of any trails that are free to ride in the Southeastern Virginia area? I'll hit the motocross tracks for sure, but I enjoy trail riding much more. Thanks in advance for any help! Derek
  2. This weekend in Martinsville Virginia the Virginia Championship Hare Scramble Series has dug deep to bring out a $1,000 to the winner. We have also fattened up the disbursement for the podium and will pay out to 10th place overall in the Main Event. Come on down!
  3. Im seriously contemplating attending this round, anyone else in? Im a former MX racer from california, been stationed in the NOVA area for a while and im really really wanting to get back into something competitive. Anyone with insight/experience with VCHSS events please chime in. Also really trying to network to maybe find some riding buddies in the area. PS Yes I know VCHSS has a forum but I trust TT just a bit more.
  4. Some of you guys mentioned racing a few races in this series. I am interested but would like more info that i cannot find. Im thinking of racing dillwyn thats the first race. How many laps do you do around the course or is it 1 long course? About how long is a course? How and when can you refuel? I ask because as i run a mostly stock 450 I dont know if my tank will hold enough gas. I know nothing about hare scramble races or how it works. All I know is how to ride the type of trails lol . Any info would be fantastic. Thanks
  5. I've never heard of it, apparently it's in Goochland County. Looks like I'll be heading there soon for work, any riding nearby? Thanks!
  6. So ive been down to the beach and stayed at a house right on the beach. man did i want to bring my bike and just ride down the shoreline and mess around. Are there any legal places to ride sand in virginia beach or by the water? I was in Sandbridge and the one day no one was on the beach that i could see in both directions for about 3 hours if i had my bike i would have risked it. Anyone with info about any sand riding in va beach would be great. or if you know what the penalty is maybe next time ill just do it and if i get in trouble o well it will be awesome footage.
  7. Post the trails you have been on this year and which ones you liked, which ones you loved, relevant and usefull information about the trails, parking, passes, etc. I just got back from PA rode Marienville and Timberline trails in the Allegheny Forest. Day pass is 10 dollars. A few trailheads to park at Some marked with good signs by the roadway. One gas station close with food etc but the gas is real expensive. Put about 110 miles in 1 day according to Grizzly trip meter. Trails where a bit open like dirt roads very fast riding but two way travel. Some trails with nice hill climbs and turns, minor difficulty. They have a bike trail 1 way supposedly 23 miles but was longer. The bike trail was rated most difficult. Most of the trail was not difficult alot of hills and turns on the side of mountains but very fun. The other part was difficult with a rock and boulder hillside with the option to take the easier route. I took the most difficult route. Difficult to choose a good line because of the large boulders and little dirt to gain traction. Best to ride it fast to keep momentum and try to dodge the big boulders. Technical tough section but after the large rock filled hill climb there are more smaller rock gardens for the next few miles some up hill some not. Took 3 hours to complete trail and make it back to the main timberline trailhead. 3 hours could have been cut down but had to wait for a grizzly to catch up with several breaks having to be taken. Bike trail was worth riding the other trails where ok but to much open riding mixed with sporadic good trails that where short.
