Bought this bike a year ago with some history. When I was 5 years old, my uncle bought this bike brand new. He'd give us kids rides around the small town my grandma lived in, and thoroughly got me hooked on two wheels. It was the activity of choice when we went to visit our grandma. He owned it up until about 6 years ago, sold it to a kid not far from where I live. Last year I was determined to get a dirt bike to ride with my son who has a little SSR 125 pit bike, so I started hunting. After not much success finding an enduro that I liked, I thought of my uncle's bike and where that might be, so I tracked it down. The kid didn't want to sell it, but I told him my history with it and he was sympathetic. $1,000 and a .40 cal S&W trade later, I was then a XR owner. The bike needed some TLC, my uncle always had it stored inside, and it was mint the last time I'd seen it. Not so much when I picked it up! Five years of being stored along side a barn, it was a little rough around the edges. A few weeks with the help of my wife and kids, some new tires, chain, sprockets, fork boots, carb cleaning and a little paint later and I got a sweet rig. It continues to create memories with my sons and daughters, giving them rides and creating the same joy I was exposed to as a kid. My youngest son is 4, and it's his favorite past time. Dirt bike adventure day with Dad day! Love it... -

I have had an XR600R since I was 13. I had to lean it against a post, climb on the seat, and jump on the kick starter when I first got it. I only buy 85-87 models. I prefer the styling and the engine's characteristics with dual carbs. They are more nimble than they are often given credit for. -

Perfect reliable trail bike. Has plenty of mods, 630 kit, flatslide carb, race pipe, re-valved suspension...all the ballard's xr's only bling. Well past it's glory days, a restoration project that still flies. Heavy in the slow stuff, but is a fire trail rocket. Easy to start when you know the technique, great for longer rides. -

In November 2015 i picked up this 1000 euro XR600R Road legal with fresh MOT.

Regretting that i sold my belowed -98 xr600r, i have now peace in my mind and looking forward to restore this bike to its former glory, fully OEM style, in the appearance of the 1996 years look. More to come. -
