From a 2006 XR650R only the frame, plastics, and swingarm remain. Wilbers extended rear shock, CRF450 fork conversion, new (18 hour) engine, etc... -

Love this bike! <br />Got it in July. Took the train to Seville and roade it back 840km. 2000 euros and 11,000 km. <br />I've been riding 30 years and this is the most excited I've felt about a bike. -

this is the best mustering bike i've owned in the 37 years of doing this job. I'm the forth owner. bought it for 5 1/2 grand 6 1/2 years ago.It had done a bit under 2000k. It has now done about 52000k. 40000k to each rebuilt. It's a beautifull bike in the channels and sandhills but a real handfull in the tight stony/gorgy country. it is very bad on the black soil after rain(but how often does that happen!!!) it clogs up very quickly. & with this nice engine i'm always home first. -

Their Heavy, Purpose Built, and older bikes. Thats why I keep the CR around. Love it death and wouldn't be able to ride my local area without it. -

Hey everyone, I just finished re assembling my XR650R after rebuilding/refinishing everything. I have not figured out how to add pictures from my phone, so I will have to add from my pc whenever possible.... specs: -stage 1 Hot Cam -11:1 piston -FMF power bomb header & muffler -Emig Racing tripple clamps w/crf forks -Scotts stabilizer -Protaper bars, pastrana fmx bend -custom built wheels by Faster USA with Excel hoops & Buchanon spokes -"burnt bronze" powdercoated frame -Baja Designs (to make the whoops look way larger at night, haha) -4.6 gal. IMS tank (soon to be replaced by the 3.2 gal. tank (12/12/2012) -15 tooth front sprocket -49 tooth chainwheel -XR's only airbox mod -graphics and numbers by Graphic MX

So I'm doing an oil change before heading to the track next weekend. I'd never been in her so I pull everything to check the oil strainers. I re-install the frame oil strainer and as I'm going to run on a road track, I drill the banjo bolt and frame downtube drain bolt for safety wire. Fine so far. Install & torque the banjo bolt, all good. Go to install the downtube bolt, checking the manual 1st for proper torque value, & run into trouble. The manual shows 29 lb-ft torque for this bolt. As I'm tightening it down I'm thinking this is not right. So I grab my lb-in wrench, set down to 180 (or 15lb-ft), and give it a twist. Pop, off comes the head of the bolt ... &%$#@! The only plus side to this is it appears that I can back the rest of the bolt out with a punch/hammer. Ruins my Saturday ... ACE
