  1. Hi there, I bought this bike in great condition but without a rear caliper. To my despair, the oem costs 500$! Is there any aftrrmarket option out there? Or universal that fits well without too many mods? Thank you
  2. 2021 yz250f 10hrs The sag measurement is not repeating check sag when the bike is cold 85mm check sag when the bike is warmed up( like a 10 min ride)104mm all I can think of is the gas pressure is out or the linkage bearings are binding up, I am pulling the shock tomorrow to inspect both. Has anyone got and other ideas incase I find nothing wrong? cheers in advance first bike I’ve encountered with this problem
  3. Hey all i have a new to me 2018 YZ250F (not fx)... is/was there a mapping capability on this bike? I have found a wire (18ga maybe) up near the 3 prong plug/cap L side near fuel tank and don’t know what it goes/went to if this machine DOES have map capabilities, where might I find a replacement switch(es)? any/all help greatly appreciated! 🤘🏼🤘🏼
  4. I have a 2018 YZ250F, the bike sat for about a year. I drained the fuel and stabilized it, checked all fluids and did an oil change. The oil seemed to have a discoloration and there is a smell of gas in the oil. Any suggestions as to what could be the issue? Bike has 50 hours on it. Everything is original
  5. I bought this 2016 yz250f as a project I come home to find that the clutch doesn't engage when pulled in. So I put it into gear and the wheel won't be able to roll, so I pull in the clutch and I still can't roll it freely. I did buy a new clutch cable but no change has happened. Any ideas help.
  6. Hey guys looking for some advice, I’ve recently purchased this yz250f for my son 2004 I believe, old mate I brought it of seemed like a genuine fella, said carb had been rebuilt, top end was done also among forks etc no receipts I viewed the bike started it went for a 10mins ride made a deal, presented well I was happy, when I got home young fella was riding around for about halfa it randomly stopped got it going again with difficulty then put an irridium plug in it started straight up first kick, stalled a couple times on me will start again easy but I’ve noticed when it’s stalling the 1st kick start appears to as if it’s seized can’t move it with decomp in then just all of a sudden its normal again kick starts easy and will start I’m sorry for the novel guys try to get a video of it starting/stalling
  7. Hey! Does anyone know the exact dimensions ( length, ID, OD ) of the rear wheel hub spacer? Number 2 on the attached picture. I think mine is a bit worn because im going though bearings way too often and would like to have one machined. I presume over the years it has been "squeezed" shorter from tightening the rear axel. Cheers in advance!
  8. Hi guys n gals! Rebuilt my carb and now it cuts out if i lay it over to the left 20/30 degrees. It will not throttle through it. i have checked float level... all good. Put my spare stator on but still same. I feel its starving of fuel but have no idea which way yo go with this. Has anyone else experienced the same fault?
  9. Gday guys! I’m new to the site, but am stuck and would really love some input! Recently purchased a 2007 YZ250F - insanely cheap, because the previous owners bought it not running and didn’t know enough about bikes to ever get it working. anyway I’ll cut to the chase it hasn’t been ridden in over 12 months and cosmetically is pretty rough. Bloke told me it was seized… I got it home, put a new spark plug, cleaned the air filter, drained the tank, cleaned the peacock and replaced the fuel hose from the tap to the carby, than refilled the bike with premium unleaded. Started second kick with choke on. Sounds reasonable, abit poppy (but the exhaust needs attention where the muffler slips on is very loose - I assumed causing popping) anyway after about 20 seconds the bike dies. I started it straight back up again and gave it some throttle. If I keep the revs up the bike doesn’t stall, it backfires every now and than, and if the revs go to low it tries to stall. I have just taken the carby off, and it will be getting a clean and rebuild with fresh seals and everything. The rubber manifold gasket thing between the carby and head looks pretty perished - should I replace this whilst I’m in there? What is your opinion as to what could be happening?! also have fresh coolant (the radiators were only half full) and oil filter and oil ready to go in the bike, and am planning to double check the valve clearances this week. look forward to a reply!
  10. i have a 2005 yz250f what all does it look like it needs and how much would i have to put into the bike to buy all the parts and pay a shop to do it
  11. My brother in laws bike after sitting in storage suddenly wouldn’t start for him. He could get it started but it would die then not start again. Eventually just couldn’t get it started. He’s done some stuff to it like rebuild carb and check some stuff. He was feeling defeated so I said I’d take a look at it. Here’s what I found. 1-tried kicking it over, seemed easy, could push kickstart lever thru with my hand easily, but decompression lever pulled in still made it even easier to move by hand 2-took sight plugs out to double check decompression lever to make sure it wasn’t hung up, oil came out crankcase sight plug and I believe this chunk of metal came out with it. (See attached pic) 3-checked valve clearances. Outside intake is right on the tight side of spec .102mm(friction fit I’d say) spec is .10mm. Outside exhaust is .254mm spec is .22mm. 4-now without oil and or a spark plug in it it feels like TDC has more compression than before?? That blew my mind. I’m wondering maybe whatever this chunk is was holding a valve open? I don’t know. I’m going to set the valve clearances in the middle of spec and double check the carb settings and make sure it’s clean. Any ideas on what the metal chunk may be from(it’s a half moon with roughly 10mm hole in it and flat on one side)?
  12. I just finished the rebuild on my 04 yz250f. I did valves and I did the top end. now it wont start, kicks and kicks and kicks and nothing happens. not even a sputter. just did timing for the 10th time and still nothing. it has spark, gas and feels like it’s got plenty of compression, anyone got any ideas?
  13. Hi I’m looking at buying a new 21 YZ250F, do they have any major mechanical or electrical issues or are they pretty bullet proof as long as you keep up on maintenance. Thanks
  14. I have a 2017 YZ250F which doesn’t want to start when I use the kick starter. But it will when I bump start it and it will usually kick over when the engine is properly warmed up. The bike will not idle either when starting cold. I have changed spark plug and it hasn’t fixed this issue. I am just trying to get to the root of this problem. Does anyone have any idea what it might be?
  15. Dear folks, Long time no see. I hope you guys in the forum are well. After a very long time more than half a year since I found my YZ250F 2009 water pump leaking through weep hole, I asked a friend of mine to help me to change the Tusk water pump seal kit. Everything went very smoothly. The old seals and bearing were removed and replaced with the new seals and bearing. New gasoline, full-synthetic lubricant oil and coolant were filled in. The engine started after a few kicks but not stable. After adjusting the fuel screw and throttle cable OK, the throttle went stable and smooth. But, surprisingly and sadly, when I pulled the clutch in and put in the 1st gear the vehicle engine stuck. I adjusted the clutch cable to be tenser but it did not help. So another new problem rose out. It is very disappointing. It would be greatly if you guys can give my any advice. Thanks in advance and regards, Armie Tran
  16. Hi all, I’ve got a problem getting specific fork parts for my 2017 yz250f. I am looking for the rebound push rod that goes inside the inner cartridge assembly. I’ve tried oem and suspension direct but I can’t seem to get the single piece without spending like $800 on a whole new assembly. My question is if anyone knows what other bikes share the same cartridge assembly? I can get it for other makes and models oem and suspension direct but cannot for my model. If anyone knows what other bikes share the same KYB 48mm fork innereds it would really help. Thanks!
  17. Hey guys, I was trying to remove the jet in the mid body of my 2002 yz250f carburetor and it wouldn't budge so I ended up drilling it out, but now I can't find this jet on any diagrams. The jet sprays into the throttle body. Does anybody know what this is called and where I can buy one?
  18. I have a 2002 YZ250F that I'm trying to get a flywheel weight for. Unfortunately I cannot find one that fits my bike year anywhere. What I'm wondering is can I fit a 2003 flywheel on my 2002 engine and get a weight for that? Or are there any other options for getting a weighted flywheel on my 2002?
  19. Hello all, I'm simply curious on if anyone has pictures of examples or suggestions for decal colors/design for the 2021 monster energy Yamaha. Also on decal works site, which green color matches the monster energy green?
  20. So recently I was riding and didn’t notice that the top oil reservoir bolt fell off until all the sudden I felt myself loose power so I stopped and the engine shut off. I thought I ran out of gas but I noticed there was oil everywhere. Fortunately i know It didn’t seize because I can still kick it over an hear a backfire, it just won’t start. Both spark and compression are good as well. And I changed the oil.
  21. So I have an 03 yz250f I’m a newer rider, I was out on the roads as usual and I completely destroyed the engine the rod and counter balance snap in half creating a big whole in the front of my cases, I’m want to do a rebuild as soon a possible. I wanted to buy the 02 built bottom end and swap what is need to get the engine running, My worries are that 02 either the complete bottom end won’t fit the parts of my 03 and I will have to buy the 03 cases move the transmission and everything good from the bottom end that I need and mess something up with the gearing. Long story short will the 02 bottoms end with rod and everything fit my frame, cylinder, head and are there anything I should be aware of
  22. Ok my son just did oil change on his 09 yz 250f... was driving it for a few hours then it started stalling out... then quit... now Kickstart won't budge... Anything I can do before taking it to a mechanic to determine the problem.
  23. I just traded my kp mini for a 2005 yz250f. bent handle bars and flat front tire when I got it. Just got both of those fixed, so I haven’t road her yet. Getting new hand grips tomorrow because the ones on it is trash. I was wondering if anybody had any recommendations on any (cheap) upgrades or mods I could do to her?
  24. Hi fellas. Just looking for opinions. I got my gf a 2004 yz250f that I'm in the process of converting to a more woods friendly bike. Lowered it with a yamalink, and will add a 10oz flywheel weight. I need to do something with the stiff forks. I was going to order a set of race tech springs for her weight (.38). And run minimum fork oil level. Then maybe mess with the shimstack. But that got me thinking. I can get a set of wr forks off ebay for $200. Any issues with just doing a fork swap?
  25. Hey guys, I recently bought an 07 YZ250f roller with the engine in 3 boxes. The previous owner's water impeller shaft broke due to bad bearings and the broken piece had jammed the shifting mechanism. No big deal as there was minimal damage to any parts and they stopped riding as soon as it happened. I get the bike, I replace the water impeller shaft, crank assembly, piston and cylinder (I had new ones and thought why not), and all bottom end bearings and seals. I could bench shift through all the gears, although I will say it would click into 5th gear, but just barely didn't sit fully into the star shaped collar that attaches to the shift drum. I assumed the tranny felt sticky due to it being on a bench and not running. I made sure the neutral didn't force the output shaft to spin, so I put the bike back together. It fired right up but when I gave it gas it shifted itself into first? I've never heard of this before. Since then I took it off the stand, shifted it back into neutral and rolled it around the garage. For lack of better words the neutral sounded "clanky". It rolls around freely, but for brief moments feels like it's in gear again before freeing up again. From what I've looked at online, not being able to shift into certain gears sounds like a shift collar problem, but what causes a shift into first when given throttle?
