    Loving the YZ250X!!
  2. 0 comments

So I've had a good year on the bike and it by far the best best I've owned! So much power and usability. I had to do some mods to even out the throttle by getting the G@ throttle with the cams, as I don't need the Supercross throttle twist in a trial that is tighter than my grip on my beer. This throttle is by far the most useful mod as it evened out the throttle so in tight sections you aren't going zero to the mood in a wrist twitch. Now I put the 8.4 ounce flywheel into her to get more low end and boy did that really make her a lugger. She came with the FMF Gnarly and the FMF Shorty pipe, I replaced the Shorty with a Q as I like "quiet" bike (I say that because it doesn't sound as quiet as my dad Husky TE300) and I need a Sparky. The oversized tank came with her and I swapped out the hand guards for my Cycra ones off my Husky. So my true overall feel for the bike, with these mods this bike has really woken up. I've taken her on a race and outside of me being an idiot and getting my shoulder dislocated just outside the pits. (Yes it's embarrassing) I love the bike. I ride it more than my others. I'd say if you can try one out, you won't go wrong.
  3. Yamaha yz250x http://www.innovationoffroad.com/2015/06/new-2016-yz250x/
  4. Im an intermediate rider looking for a new bike im stuck in between a yz125x and a yz250x im about 19 130 lb and 5'7 ive outgrown my little 140 and looking for something that i wont get bored of i want to be able to go to the dunes, trail riding, and maybe heading to the track, mostly just open areas of riding and maybe some small trails, my buddy has a 250x and i can handle it pretty decently at full throttle any advice would be helpful
  5. I'm starting this thread to serve as a place to ask questions about Apex Technical Innovations cylinder heads (yz250, yz250x, yz125, yz125x). Picking the right dome or domes for you is an important part of making sure your bike is perfect for you and I'm happy to serve as a resource here or in direct messages. I welcome any technical questions as well and encourage anyone with experience with us to share your setups, riding conditions, and results. Your feedback helps us continue to evolve and can help others with their decision making process. There's a reason I stick to YZ's for my personal bikes, the community is great and they're a dream to ride!
  6. Just bought a new 2020 YZ250X a few weekend ago. Dealership ran break-in mix of 15:1 with Yamalube 2R and I fouled a plug within 45 minutes. I kind of expected that so once break in was done, I started running what the manual calls for (32:1 Yamalube 2R). Ive been riding the bike pretty hard to avoid fouling another plug but it doesn't matter how I ride, it still seems to take an hour before I replace the plug. I most trail ride, so should I just adjust my mix ratio or do you think this can be caused by the carb settings. Spark plug comes out wet/spoogy/dark black. Picture attached. Any help is appreciated 👍

    It's actually a 2018. Daughter loves it!

So far I don't have ANY complaints! This bike is ready to race in the woods minus protection (hand guards, skid plate). The suspension is plush, brakes are great, and the gearing is pretty darn primo.

Best bike I've ever ridden hands down!!! Nothing bad to say other than it needs a tank and a skid plate to complete it as an "off road" bike but that's about it!

Love it. First new bike I've ever bought. Just doing my part to fight the orange invasion!

    Light and fun!!!
  20. I’ve been riding my 2020 YZ250X a few times this season already, and on the last day I rode, I noticed the bike seemed as if it was louder than usual or that it was coming from the side of the bike. I looked around and nothing looked to be off much visually. Today I rode it again and noticed that the bike had a different tone to it... it sounded deeper which worries me. Although the power was much still there, it just felt off... specially when taking off from a stop in first gear. What could be causing this? I have 30HRs on the bike, with regular oil changes and air filter cleaning.
  21. Hey guys new to the forums here and I just got through reading the thread on yz250x’s vs yz450fx’s. My biggest question is will a 450 be too much for a guy my size or is that what I should have been riding the whole time? I’m 23 years old, 5’11” and weigh 240 lbs, I’ve been riding for about 16 years. My favorite stuff to ride is single track but I primarily ride fire roads in NorCal in the sierras. For reliability I’ve always loved 2 strokes but my last bike was a 2012 kx250f and I fell in love with the low end power of a fuel injected 4 stroke. I would buy a yz250fx in a second as it would probably be perfect for me on dirt, but I’m not sure it’ll be enough bike since I want to be able to take this bike to the dunes atleast once a year. So that leaves me with the yz250x or a yz450fx, thanks for your guys input and sorry if this question is beating a dead horse.
