    honda Cr 125 Issues

Hello, I'm having a couple problems out of my 2000 Cr 125 that I recently picked up about 2 months ago and wondering if anybody could help maybe point me in the right direction to fixing these problems. 1.) Little to no power in first gear (won't even pull front wheel off ground) 2.) When holding the bike in the powerband it will "kick in and out", out more then in though 3.) The bike is blowing quite a bit of splooge from all the exaust connection points and even dripping on my rear swingarm, I've tried changing my mix ratios from 32:1 to 36:1 to 40:1 and the problem still persist so I just stuck with 36:1 Also can't find an exact answer on what compression the bike is supposed to be running at. I recently compression tested it and it read at about 120. I've read up on these problems quite a lot but everybody says something different, everything from jetting, reeds, top end, ect.. Any sort of lead in direction would be highly appreciated!

  4. I replaced my throttle tube and started up the bike, it idles fine but as soon as I give it even the least amount of throttle it stalls out immediately. How do I make the adjustments to fix this, starting from the top and then if needed going to the carb. Thanks.

High RPM Scraping Noise 2011 CRF250x

I have a 2011 CRF250x, I've always been on top of maintenance, never really flogged the bike. From about this time last year the bike developed a sort of rubbing/scraping noise coming from the left side of the motor only when it was 3/4 throttle or more. I thought it might have been drivetrain so I pulled over, put it in neutral and did the same thing (3/4 throttle and more) while sitting still and it did the same thing. The bike sat in the shed for about 6 months and then I took it out to see if I could figure it out. I pulled the valve cover off and everything seemed normal, nothing loose, valves still in clearances. I also pulled the cam chain tensioner out, I wasn't game enough to go further so I put it back together and started it. No noise. It was fine, I rode it for about 1-2 months with no noise at all. I had to get a friend to ride it to get it inspected for road worthy and the noise is back. I've tried taking the cam chain tensioner out again and it hasn't worked this time. The noise has also become worse and at lower RPM (more like 2/3 throttle now). I'm wondering if this has been experienced by anyone else also and how they fixed it. I'm not game enough to continue riding it as I'm not sure whether the noise is something going bad. I'm keen to fix the problem as I've been without a bike for so long, I just don't have the money to pay someone to dig around the bike for me. Thanks in advance
  8. Hey guys, first post here. My bike is a 2009 Honda CRF250R which i bought in August 2017, i have only ridden it twice since then due to mechanical problems. When i bought the bike i didn't know as much as i do now unfortunately, nevertheless ive spent more on it than what i paid for originally. i Took the bike to my local Honda dealership and they said its a common occurrence where the bikes wont turn over it just needs clearance adjustment and shimming, i brought my bike to them and told them to do a full inspection on it. Initially after the inspection they said; Tyres are worn, front brake pads worn, clearance need to be checked and 4x shims needs replacement. i told them to continue with their work and do whatever needs to be done to get my bike running again. A week go by and no luck, according to them they got the bike starting but heard a knock from the engine and the cam chain and tensioner needs to be replaced as it is in correlation to the bike not turning over, few days later with a new cam chain installed the bike started first kick according to the mechanic but didn't want to turn over for a second time no matter how many times they tried. After them inspecting the bike again they phoned me and said the flywheel is demagnetized and the stator is burnt, but there are no new parts available anywhere in South Africa and it would take 6weeks to get the new parts. Their initial quote was R1100 to get my bike running again, it totaled to R7000 without the flywheel and stator which was an additional R6800. This Honda dealership clearly don't follow procedure and cant comprehend the concept of what a full inspection means otherwise there wouldn't have been that much trial and error on their part. i took my bike back almost 7 times more than what i thought it would cost only to get a bike still in the same condition as before, not running. a local mechanic supplied me with a second hand flywheel and stator for R3000 which made the bike start with much struggle (cant cold start, 20-30 kicks when warm plus it had a massive bog) meaning Honda never even bothered to look at my carb, there was a stripped leak jet which is very visible and they never mentioned it once. i had my carb dipped in acid and rebuilt as the acc bypass nozzle that squirts fuel into the engine was also blocked and spraying mist, carb cleaner, compressed air and thin wire couldn't clear it up but the acid bath made it look brand new and working perfectly, they also drilled out the stripped leak jet and replaced it for me. a different local mechanic had a look at my bike and the shims had to be replaced again... the Honda dealership clearly knows what they're doing. My bike can finally start but the power delivery is super jerky. if i punch the throttle there is a delay before it kicks in and you can hear/ feel there's something wrong. slowly opening the throttle is when its worse, i attached a link to a YouTube video of my bike. i would greatly appreciate any assistance to resolve this problem. thanks in advance the idle sounds a bit high but after a few seconds itll drop down for some reason. not shure if its a related issue.
  9. Hello. I am a 19 year old female, looking for a dirtbike to learn to ride on. I am 170cm and weigh 50kg. I'm looking at two bikes atm but don't know what one would suit me best. Is a Honda CRF100 better or a Yamaha TTR125 ???. I don't mind if the bike is a little small as I am just wanting a bike to learn on and muck around on a padlock. Thanks.

    Crf450x

Need a little help guys. I have a 2012 crf450x. I'm planning on installing my fmf powercore 4 slip-on exhaust, deleting the smog crap and doing the 3x3 airbox modification. I live in Georgia so I'm about 1,000 to 1200 ft above sea level. I'm looking to do my carb jetting so I called FmF and their telling me me I don't need to re-jet. I know I probably need to so can anyone help me out with the correct jetting before I tear this thing apart? Any help will be greatly appreciated.
  11. I'm looking for a pit bike, budget around $600. Im not to worried about a chinnese brand im worried about size, I've been looking at a ssr 125 (either semi and manual), I'm 6'1 about 165lbs. I just wanna know if i'd be able to ride it pretty comfortably, obviously wont be as comfortable as a 250. let me know anything you got. Thanks
  12. Before I put my 05 CRF250R away for the winter it was running weird. I noticed it was leaking oil out of the engine cover. It was understandable because i had just put a new stator in. The bike had been running oddly for some time before i realized it was leaking. I just took the bike out for the spring and now it doesn't even start. I bought a new engine gasket to try to fix the leak. I am currently installing it. I am wondering if the low compression could've messed up the top end? I rode it with low compression for about three weeks before it started to bog so bag i couldn't ride it anymore. Will replacing the seal fix my issue or have i created a whole new one?

  14. Selling my CB750 brat build for a dual sport and want to go the scrambler route. Decided on the xr650 and looking at one with a 'new top end' but unsure what it's worth (as well as if it's a riskier purchase than one with 'no known issues.' Attached is a picture of the bike and the invoice from the shop that the current owner passed along. Should I pass based on the repair (or that fact the the owner over-heated it)? If it's still a go, how much should I offer? Is the oil cooler a must now? Thanks in advance from a newbie!
  15. Hi, I have a 2002 Honda XR250R and I love the bike but the gas tank but, let's be honest, it is quite bland. The seat also dips quite low in comparison to the top of the gas tanks so cornering is more difficult compared to other bikes. I was wondering if there is any street bikes (such as the newer xr250 or the cr230) who's gas tank and seat is interchangeable with my older XR. I have looked at aloop kits and such but they are just too expensive. Not the older XR has a single beam to the handle bars while the newer Hondas have a "double wishbown" frame style. Thanks so much

    Tim Gajser is Back

Yesterday Tim Gajser dominated at the MXGP of Argentinia and grabbed the red plate with two hands. He rides really smart, calm and committed. Jeffrey Herlings still not at where we all expected and Cairoli with two horrible starts, but still quick... http://mxdose.com/mxdose/gajser-jonass-dominant-in-argentina/ Highlights: http://mxdose.com/mxdose/mxgp-of-argentina-2017-highlights/
  17. Hello, just got this bad boy couple months ago, last ride it died and won't start anymore, got no spark at all. So the stator is dead, the problem is that i can find a lot of stators for the crf R and X models but nothing for this bike because it's produced by HM for italy and it uses different stator. Anyone with any solution. Thanks in advance.

    XR80 Interchangeable parts

I have a 1980 xr80 that is starting to freeze up on me ................................. after being ridden for about a month with out a drop of oil. I have a spare bottom end (same year) but not a spare top end. My plan is to hopefully take the old top end and put it on my spare bottom. while I have it all torn apart is there any parts from a different model year that would be interchangeable? also is there OEM parts from a different year or bike that could be swapped on for a performance gain?

    2001 Honda XR200r Rebuild

I bought a 2001 xr200r bike as a project and am in the process of rebuilding it. I have never rebuilt a bike before, only automotive engines and was intrigued by the versatility and challenge of doing something I've never done before, plus who doesn't want a dirt bike? I have been told that I can bore out the cylinder in order to accommodate an xr250r piston. I have done research on the differences between the two motors through schematics and specifications, but I still have some questions and concerns. 1. Is an xr250r top end compatible with an xr200r bottom end? 2. Is rejetting the xr200r carb enough or should I upgrade to a xr250r carb and fuel tank? 3. Can it remain a two valve system or would I rebuild the whole top end with a xr250r 4 valve? 4. Dry sump vs. wet sump? 5. Is it worth the power difference? 6. Higher performance bearings in the bottom end to handle the power difference? 7. Available kits or call a machine shop? Like I said, this is the first time I have ever done this so inexperienced is a kind way of saying I'm pretty in the dark here, but looking to learn and build a beautiful machine for next season. Any input is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

  23. Hello, For this summer, I was looking for a project. As a desert/trial, and occasionally single track rider from Southern California, any time of the year works for a build like this. I grew up riding two-stroke and after a couple years on four strokes, I want to return to the enduro king. However, KTM and Husky sell their bikes for quite a high price tag. So, I have decided I want to take an older two stroke motocross bike i.e. cr250, yz250, etc., and make it the ultimate desert bike for significantly less than a new KTM. I am not loyal to one brand, but I have always loved Honda and spent a grand a month ago on all new gear with Honda's name plastered all over it. I know all the mods I want to do the bikes to make them enduro/desert ready: heavy flywheel, 18 inch rear wheel, new exhaust, steering stabilizer, etc. What I need help in is I don't know what bikes I can install a wide ratio transmission in. I know yz250 can take a 400 or 426 transmission, but can any other brand? I would like to see a cr250 with the gears of a 450x rippin through the desert. I like the steel frame for off road use, and I just need some advice on the best bike for this conversion. Thanks
  24. I have a ttr125 regular and I haven't rode it more than 50 times and i've had a little experience with 4 wheelers but never owned one. I want a little bit bigger bike but I also have always wanted a 2 stroke. Im not interested in yamaha or suzuki. I'm not a racer and I don't plan on getting into racing but I want a 2 stroke. I'm 15 years old, 5'6, and 130lbs.

    Cr 250 Conversion

So I can get a 1986 cr250 motor for a good price and I also know a guy that has a 2005 crf250r that needs work. I have the idea of just swapping motors. Would this motor fit in the newer frame?
