  1. I have watched Washington State change over the years and being at a place in my life where all I want to do is ride trails, I am considering leaving Washington State. Where would you move to if you were set up in life and all you had to do was to enjoy the next 30 years riding trails? Your help is greatly appreciated. I have 3 places in mind, what say you guys? Where would you go? My ideal riding is technical single track. For instance I love little Naches, Tahuya obviously and Shelton areas. Thanks everyone who chimes in, much appreciated. PS. Pics are a huge bonus.

  3. I know not everyone rides out here, but I do my fair share of letter writing for the coast, so if you're so inclined....here is a request from Tracy Gravelle in Northern Idaho. Last year 2020 as promised, we restored Bronson Meadows TR155 (including rebuilding the two switchbacks at the beginning), East Fork Big Creek TR56 and the upper 4 miles of Big Creek TR44 in the Big Creek drainage; We also restored Slate Creek TR160 in the Slate Creek drainage and Simmons Creek TR80 in the Simmons Creek drainage. The two person motorcycle crew was up and running for trail logout on over 250 miles of trail. Of course, our amazing volunteers did their part all over the District. Things are looking good. This coming summer 2021 , because of your support, we are already funded to rebuild a mile of trail including switchbacks near the bottom of Simmons Ridge TR78; we have flagged parts of it and will be ready for the rebuild in early summer. The IDOC (ID Dept of Corrections) crews will also be restoring Fly Creek Trail 629 and Stateline TR738. There is a minimum of 50 days allotted to this task. We are excited to begin this work. The motorcycle crew will also be up and running for general logout. For this year’s grant proposals (trail restoration and trail clearing), I am proposing work by IDOC (ID Dept of Corrections) crews to restore single track trails Dam Creek TR10, Flume Creek TR304 and Squaw (Telichpah) Creek TR196. In addition, I am proposing opening a 3 mile OHV< 50 inch trail in Norton Creek on the old railroad grade. There will also be another separate proposal to fund general trail clearing with the motorcycle crew. I need your emails that have enabled this trails program to put over $800,000 (since 2007) back into restoring your single track motorized trails. Help me keep it going. As you all know, nature can close a trail pretty quickly and we need to stay on top of it. Please send your emails of support as soon as possible and forward this message to your friends. All I need is a sentence or two in an email, fax (208-245-6052) or letter. I need these by December 16th. I am more than happy to answer questions or just talk trails; I am mostly teleworking so feel free to call me at this number: 509-235-2355 . Happy holidays to everyone. Tracy Gravelle Trails Program Manager Forest Service Idaho Panhandle National Forests, St. Joe Ranger District p: 208-245-6042 f: 208-245-6052 tracy.gravelle@usda.gov And if you need a quick template, here was my response..... Tracy, Thank you for all you do managing the forests we love to recreate in. Your current proposal to restore Dam Creek TR10, Flume Creek TR304 and Telichpah Creek TR196 will continue the tradition of responsible management. In addition, your proposal to open an OHV< 50 inch trail in Norton Creek on the old railroad grade will serve to disperse ORV use through increased trail mileage. Thank you for your continued work and please let me know if there is anything else I can do to support your efforts.
  4. Looking for a good front tire for Idaho single track and also some central Washington hare scrambles. I do not want to use a fatty anymore I’ve given that a try. I’m going to try out the IRC VE33S on the rear, first time trying one as opposed to the Shinko cheater I normally use. So looking for recommendations on a good front tire to pair with that
  5. Nice, various user groups cooperating. Something you don't see all the time. https://www.nohvcc.org/beer-bears-and-groups-that-dont-usually-play-well-together-for-400-alex-how-collaboration-achieved-results-in-idaho/ "Colby, says “The coolest part of this project is all the groups/people who have been involved.” So, whether the volunteers are on this project are accessing the trail by foot, horse, mountain bike, or motorcycle, they are all ending up in the same really great place."
  6. I'm headed to Idaho for a family vacation and will be able to peel away for a few days to go riding. I'll be up over July 4th and would much apricate some recommendations for areas around Stanley and Idaho City. Specific trail names so I can find them on a map is even better, GPS if you have it. I ride singletrack down in baja and am looking forward to trees and water crossings, I hear I'll likely find snow that time of year too....
  7. Hey guys, Ill be riding out at Gold Creek this Sunday. I'll be by my lonesome, was wondering if anyone would like to join me? Just looking to explore some of the single track. I ride a newer KTM 300 and am a moderate rider. Thanks! Brandon
  8. Hi Everyone, Heading up the middle of August to Ridaho Grit#2 out of Wallace. Ridaho#2 is 5 days but going to ride for 8 days. I'm "old school" and get along better with Paper maps. "Latitude 40" makes excellent maps but not for Idaho. The Idaho Forest Service post excellent maps on their informational signs I saw last year when riding Grit#3. Where can I get/buy Idaho trail maps? Thanks

  10. As the title says, looking for any local input on tire recommendations for northern Idaho trails. Specifically of the steeper, rockier, rootier, greasier variety. Currently a fan of the Shinko 505 Cheater for the rear set up tubeless, Pirelli MX 32 Soft for the front with a bib - anyone got anything better?
  11. I'm planning on buying a second home in Idaho. I'm going to do some research and start posting trail information for folks in the rest of the country that want to visit what is widely considered to be a great place to ride single track. Should you have some great trail suggestions, pictures of trails, etc, feel free to post here.
  12. Looking to ride this Sunday if anyone is interested. Prefer to trail ride, but I'll be happy DS'ing as well. I'm new here and haven't seen much, so I'm open for anything. Little bike can do 70-80 miles and KTM is good for 120-140 miles.
  13. Curious what people think about riding in either place and which is better. McCall region or CdA to Bonners as far as basecamp is concerned. Thanks!
  14. What's the latest window of opportunity to get up in Idaho and spend 5 days riding lower to middle of state before it gets kinda ugly , thanks in advance
  15. I have a klx 140 G and have been riding for close to two years now. I usually go out once a week after work with my husband when its not too cold or snowing out. Since we live in Michigan, our season is not super long. I am not brand spanking new, but I would not classify myself as a proficient rider yet. The most technical trails I have encountered were out in Montrose Colorado and some single tracks up in Norther Michigan. I have not mastered wheeling over logs yet so when I come to down trees that are too big to just blurp over, I end up going around them. We are thinking about going out to Idaho with my father in law to ride trails out there. Does anyone know of any good trails for beginner riders?
  16. Hey everybody, Just looking to see if there are any others in the Driggs / Victor area? Recently just bought a new CRF230 and am looking for some partners to ride with this season. The guys I know are mostly dual sporters and are not interested in much single track. I am just getting back into riding after having many years off, so I am looking to ease into things on some easier terrain before getting real technical. Looking for any pointers or help in the area, Im really stoked on the upcoming season and look forward to hearing from some folks! Liam
  17. Lost a Gopro Hero 3+ at Little Gem in Emmett during the SIDRA race 11/7, if anyone finds it please let me know
  18. Hey all, Can anyone give me some ST trail ideas in the Athol ID area? We are headed over for a five day adventure this July and would like to know of some trail ideas for solid intermediate riders. I’m taking the kiddos and thy are good for about 40miles. Base camp is close to Silverwood and will truck bikes to the TH from there. TIA, Nick
  19. My summer vacation starts June 1st. My plan is to spend June and July in Idaho. Where would be a good place to camp where I can ride to the trails from my trailer? I also need to be relatively close to Boise.
  20. Hola TT crew... Its that time again to start planning my Idaho riding vacation. Historically, I have started my trip up at Gold Creek lodge, then headed to Stanley, then down to Baumgartner. I love all of these rides but wanted to try and mix it up a little this year. Its kinda sad because I grew up in Pocatello so I really should know where to go but really only rode locally (Pocatello, Twin Falls, American Falls) when growing up... Anyone have any epic riding areas that provide at least 3-4 days of riding? My trip is usually two weeks and I like to try and hit 3 different locations. The only thing I am restricted by is that I travel in an RV with trailer so the area has to be accessible (tho my bikes are plated so that helps a little). Any help would be greatly appreciated!
  21. I'm new around these parts. Looking to find some hare scrambles/races of any sort. Google and this site have only found an MX track that popped up about two hours south of here, "Fossil Bowl." Looks good for MX, I do have a crusty CR125 that I can run. Might take a whack at it, probably D class on the MX track (I've cleared some doubles, gotten a good rhythm a time or two but never raced MX) My total racing experience only includes a couple of harescrambles in C class back down south. Its hard to beat that adrenaline rush you get when you're on the line. Motors revving, the smell of two stroke oil and dirt.... for me its not about winning but about just running the race. I'm literally finding zero information on any nearby hare scramble races/woods races. Might just be par for the course up here as there aren't a lot of people around these parts. There are a lot of dirtbikes though... Any thoughts? WA MT included- if its within two hours of Coure D Alene.
  22. Does anyone ride in the area? I'm not a huge fan of meeting people online, but it's probably better than the alternative. I'm a fairly new rider and beginning to roam out further. Up until now I've only ridden alone. I figure it would be a good idea to have others along going forward.
  23. Has anyone heard of the Tour of Idaho?

    idaho Ridaho Grit#2

Ridaho Grit#2 scheduled for Mid-August 2021. Grit#2 is a 5 day loop. Looking to extended into 7-8 day ride. Any close trails nearby? or between Spokane Washington & Wallace Id. where we are leaving truck & trailer. Did Grit#3 last August, tough, hot and smoky from the Ca fires but fun and back for more.
