    Transmission Oil

My manual says to run oil 10w-30 or 10w-40. What brand makes the best clutch oil for a two stroke? What oil do you guys and girls run in your Two stroke dirt bikes? any particular ones to stay away from? Also, semi synthetic, full synthetic, or non synthetic?
  2. Been riding for a number of years, on and off road. Not a serious dirt biker for the last few years but would like to get back into riding off road. Riding consists of: Mostly NW trail riding and log roads, something I can ride straight out of my garage. Occasional although very rare track day, and occasionally paddle tires in NW sand dunes Important features: somewhat light weight, torqued high (KTM in mind), looking for power and speed readily available when I need it on a straight away, versatility. Would like to make street legal if possible (just for getting around from trail to trail) but not a necessity. Like the weight and balance of many 250's and 230's but thinking I should probably look for something a little bigger. Long time fan of KTM and have not rode but really liking 300XC-W. Can anyone provide a little guidance or direction?
  3. Recently picked up a 2012 klx250s. Bike was in need of a carb tune. I re jetted and picked up a easy access fuel air screw. The stock one was so wedged up into the carb that it Would not come loose. Screwdriver slipped and snapped off the housing around the fuel air screw. Am I screwed (no pun intended) do I need to just replace the entire carb now? if anyone has better know how or where i can order the correct parts id be so appreciative.

    KLX 650 R Triple Clamps

Hey Thumpers, I am swapping forks and need to know what triple clamps / tripple trees will also fit the 93-96 KLX650r forks. Through some research it looks like KLX300 and pre 09 KLX250 clamps will also fit. But given the ambiguous name of these parts (triple/tripple trees/clamps) doing a search to get good info is difficult. And many of the clamps I am finding for sale are rather expensive so just want to make sure I am getting the right part before pulling the trigger. Thanks for your help!
  5. Hello friends, I have seen some discussion about DRZ400 (DRZ400S, etc) vs whatever other bike, when it comes to power. My riding buddy and I threw down some good old drag races this morning on the way back home after some adventure in the forest. I own/ride a 2002 KLX300R. We ran two heats, one on gravel, then one one asphalt. Who do you think won? See below:
  6. Hello friends, I recently put a new Kenda Trakmaster II rear tire on my KLX300R. I'm loving the improved grip and overall performance. Here's a little video I put together of the tire in action...
  7. Hello friends, Just thought I'd share a short summary video of a 154-mile adventure ride my buddy and I did last week. Northeastern AZ has an unbelievable amount of rural trail/road to explore. My KLX300R averaged 71.5 MPG on this ride.
  8. KLX250s 2009 I want to rebuild the top end, - new valves - new head gasket - new rings Can I do it without removing the motor? how much work does it take & do I need any special measuring tools?
  9. Hello friends, I installed a Ricochet Off-Road skid plate plate on my KLX300R several months ago. I've put nearly 400 miles on the bike since installing the plate. Those miles include dirt road, two-track, asphalt, gnarly single-track, sand, etc. Thus far I'm perfectly satisfied with the plate...here's the video:
  10. After two full and intense days of trail riding on the Paiute Trail System in Utah, my buddy and I rode out bikes into the bed of the Ram 1500 and headed back to the hotel for some R&R.
  11. Hello friends, Our 4th of July 5am ride was a blast, and on the way back I was hauling because I had to make it back to work on time:

    I need advice and help

My dad grew up riding three wheelers and quads but no bikes, he fixes and rides quads and Atcs daily and my mom rode a moped but that’s all of their experience. My parents act like even the smallest trail bike is a death machine. I have ridden a atc350x (dads) and a kxf250 (friends) as the most “dangerous” machines I have ever ridden. I don’t understand and I talk to them about it to death. I even see an xr100r for $350 that was $600 on Craigslist right now that I can afford. I ride a 300ex daily and have ridden all my life. I just want a dirt bike for a chance and I can’t even get my parents to budge on a ttr125 or crf150. I’m 15 and I think it’s time I’m alowed but they don’t. I know I can ride good because I have ridden many bikes and have had my fair share of crashes.
  13. dropped the bike doing a dirt donut, Pretty sure I broke a pin on the change drum /gear holder star thing (and 1 week from my Friday the 13th DMV test that I need this bike for) but found a pin in the oil pan when I was trying removing the gear changer face plate. couldn't remove the plate because I realized you need to get the chain and sprocket out of the way since I don't have tools for either of those things I was wondering if I could get away with EITHER removing the sprocket OR the chain ...to save money. if not I guess ill just have to buy $400 impact wrench + a $200 master link revet tool.
  14. Good afternoon, friends. Yesterday, the 4th of July, my riding buddy David and I took a fun 5am, 35.5-mile trip out into the woods and back. I condensed the ride down into 3 mins of my favorite portions of the trail. I ride a 2002 KLX300R and he rides a DRZ400. We had a great time...
  15. Hello friends, Nearly one month ago my riding buddy and I spent two days in the Paiute Trail System in Utah. One of the most challenging portions of the ride was this section of switchbacks up and over Circleville Mountain. It was very fun, and knowing you have a steep drop-off next to you for 6 straight minutes of climbing always bumps up the adrenaline.
  16. Hello friends, It's so nice to have finally found a riding buddy who's as interested as I am. We've been doing these weekly 5am rides, and this past week I lead the way while looking for elk and elk sign. We had a fun ride. Here's a video with a few of the highlights from the ride:
  17. Hello friends, I thoroughly enjoy watching my boys progress in their riding skills on 2 wheels. It's fun to see them grow in confidence...and just be outside having a good time. I love that we can do this together. Here's a short video of some highlights from this past Saturday.
  18. I know, I know...it's not fair, but sometimes you gotta remind your boys who's the boss. Plus, racing is just plain fun. Had a blast out with my boys riding today. The bikes in the video are a 2007 Honda CRF70F, and a 2002 Kawasaki KLX300R.
  19. Hello friends, On our ride this morning, we located the elk carcass from my brother and I's cow elk hunt, fall of 2016. Here's the video:
  20. Hello friends, For those curious about the stock gearing (with stock sprockets) on a Kawasaki KLX300R, I put together this short video. Also, I included the part 1 minute later where an antelope ran across my path. Look closely and you can see it.
  21. Howdy friends, This past Saturday I rode solo from 5:20am - 7:20am out into the nearby forest. There is so much open space out here in NE Arizona that riding opportunities and new trails are endless. This loop, including new trail, was a total of 34.4 miles. Here's a small video summary of my ride. Of interest: 1 dead cow, 5 antelope in three separate locations, 20+ jackrabbits, some very secluded private property, a blossoming cactus, a section of cross-country travel

    Fork break in?

Just replaced my entire suspension and the forks are very stiff even when loosened all the way. I was wondering if the forks just needed to be ridden on to break them in.
  23. Hello friends, This past weekend I took my first ride on my recently-acquired KLX300R. I had a great time, so far I love the bike. Here's a short video summary of my ride out to the woods to retrieve a camera.
  24. Hello friends, bought an ‘03 300R yesterday. Love it, but it has a squeaky odometer. Any suggestions for a fix?
  25. prob a stupid topic but I'm interested to know more about it. I 100% always use Shell stations...no reason in particular. ...lately, when filling up, the pump won't automatically stop. I will end up over flowing. This has never happened to me up until recently, I usually always use the auto stop. Today it happened I had to tip the bike over to spill some gas out, I did use the reserve and it was getting pretty low. Not sure if my bike tells the pump to stop or if its the pump thats broken.
