OK here goes... Picked up an 04 200 EXC few months back, needed some work to say the least, wont go into detail of all the things i've fixed on the bike just the current and most present issue I cant seem to fix... it is smoking IE blue smoke/lots of splooge to the point that at the end of a few hour's ride, it's out the tail pipe, running down the back and dripping onto the swing arm/rear break caliper and blue smoking quite a bit. When I first got it, it smoked more and smelled like shit. So first things first went to the carb, I live on the Oregon coast (elevation/temp reference) it's old dirty/stained but inside looks good, came with jetting pilot-45, main-178 needle: no idea what brand guessing stock in the 3rd clip, adjusted the float height due to it leaking gas when bike was upright no tilt with the gas on, Bought JD jet kit and running pilot-45, Main-185 and Needle is blue 3rd clip (JD's recommend specs for my bike @ my attitude). I have also replaced my Inner crankcase seal twice (First time I thought I messed up the O-ring so redid to make sure). I've rebuilt the top end/new piston (same thing) cleaned the PV, NOTE HERE that the PV has some issues, it seems to work fine but the screw that goes on top of the cylinder, down into the PV/flap would not come out preventing me from removing the flap to clean it, however it move's/ function's correctly, and has minimum clearance on both sides. One of the PV cover bolts that also works at the exhaust spring holder, was over torqued at some point (impact driver prob), or a result in a hard impact, the hole the bolt goes into is flailed/jared open a bit, not bad, not in the way of any function/ PV Gearing/hinge, it is not needed for that area to be air tight as their is also a breather that goes out of the PV so will not result in an "air leak" or loss in Top end PSI.... anyway... it's still smoking.... quite a bit.. now the bike itself rides fine I feel, the carb does puke gas when tilted over slightly/ hard to start (kick start) after flooded (like all bikes tho) I don't have any stalling/low idle issues outside of user error on clutch control. Honestly outside of it smoking as much as it does I would think nothing is wrong with it.. I have also tried raising the needle Clip to 2nd clip and it changed nothing at all, not even feel of the bike/response and have a new Spark plug I have yet to put on the bike. I have also "compromised" the crankcase Gasket (new one in the mail) while I was putting the Crankcase back on but that should do nothing with the exhaust just a little gear oil leak not relevant but throwing it out there. So I am at a loss... I've been toying with the idea of getting a Lectron carb... However... would hate to drop $400~$500 and the issue still persist, if it's a jetting/carb/float issue that would fix it and improve MPH/fuel consumption Or something with the PV? but I don't see the PV causing that much smoke/sploogee... I've ridden the bike normally/hard and nothing's happened but I don't want to keep pushing it and possibly clip the bike. Any ideas? "Oh help me 2 stroke community you're my only hope"

Hey guys. New to the page and new to ktm’s really. just purchased a nice, used ‘05 200 exc. It came with a headlight that has running light and hi/lo beam and tail light fender insert (that wasn’t installed) with running light and brake light. The wiring harness, voltage regulator and switch for the lights were all missing as well as the speedo, although the cable is still there. So I purchased the new banjo bolt with brake light switch for the rear master cylinder, stock wiring harness with regulator and light switch. I got it all installed and could already tell the hi/lo wasn’t going to work bc headlight plug was 4 pin and the harness only has 3 pins. Figured I’d cross that bridge later. Fired it up and the lights came on, success!! Or so I thought.Tail/brake light worked as it should but as for the head light, only the running light would work, no hi or lo beam. Then a minute or two later, all lights quit working and can’t get them to work again. I checked voltage off the yellow power wire coming from the stator and am not getting anything. Did I burn the stator up? Do I need a bigger stator for the hi/lo and brake lights? And what about a wiring harness that will accommodate the hi/lo beam? Any help would be appreciated

Hey guys, I'm in the process of my first ever complete rebuild on my 200 and I just need a professional opinion on some things. To start should I replace this crank or should I just get it rebuilt...(whats the symptoms of needing a rebuild vs replacement) and next question are there any thing I should be look out for or paying extra attention to during this rebuild ...so far Im feeling pretty good about the project I just don't wanna any f*** ups. Any advice bout the process is welcome and thanks in advance.

bought a 2005 ktm 200 exc and the speedometer seems to be removed. also there is a small metallic pin next to the speedometer mounting, any idea what that is for? I have no knowledge in bikes, and would like to get the lights working as soon as possible.

Ran fine before, now...not so much.

So, I need some help. Badly. My wife and I are about ready to light our new (used) bikes on fire in frustration in our driveway, trying to get them to start and run. She has a Yamaha 2016 TTR230 (17.5 hours...seriously) and I have the 2002 KTM 200 EXC (~200 hours). I'm brand-new to dirt bikes, she has some experience. We both have really solid utility riding experience (ATVs and UTVs), just new to the whole two wheel aspect. We both know our way around small motors, but this is stumping the sh*t out of us. We bought them from two separate owners- one outside of Atlanta, one near Boone, NC- and they ran fine on the test rides. Both bikes started right up, ran great around the previous owners' properties. We got them home to our house in western NC, ran them up and down our road, they ran fine. Now, 4 days later, we can't get them to fire and stay running. Mine isn't a priority right now- throttle cable was hanging on by a thread, so that is on order. Even then, I can't get it to pop with proper kickstart technique. I know two strokes can be finicky, but I'll tackle that in a few days when I have the fresh cable on. The TTR is blowing our minds though: 4 stroke with an e-start. It doesn't get any easier than that, right? Not for us. Checked EVERYTHING: spark is good, air is good, battery is on the tender and strong, choke on for cold start, tried bump starting...nothing. But it is definitely flooding, but we're not even getting a quick pop like it even wants to try and work for us after draining the bowl or tilting it to drain out the overflow. What am I missing? Could this be a carb/jetting issue? Thanks- 4 replies

Hi, I just bought a 2005 ktm 200 Exc and I've been told to remove the spark arrestor in the exhaust, how would I go about doing this? Im from South Africa and don't really have any restrictions on this type of thing I've made the decision to remove it so please don't tell me I shouldn't for whatever reason. I just can't find any information on how to remove it. Exhaust is the k-300
