  1. Hey Everyone, Looking for guidance/ advice as my bike sits in a shop acting like a paperweight. I have a 2015 KX250F that is having trouble starting once I ride it for 30minutes. It starts up 2-3 kicks cold everytime and idles fine. After running for 30 minutes or so, the bike wont start hot. I have to let it cool down for 20-30 minuets before it will kick back over. During this time it will bump start, sometimes struggles but normally will start. The bike doesn't bog down during operation and will continue to rip unless I stall it or hit the kill switch. Currently the bikes at the shop and the guys are stumped. Valves are perfect( shimmed to loose side of tolerance), leak down test passed, timing is great, new park plug, coolant full, and No sensor error codes have been detected. I'm at a loss, because the bike will continuously run unless I shut it off or by dumb mistake stall it. Then it becomes a waiting game until I can kick it back over. The shop guys are starting to suspect the fuel pump causing problems but idk. What's your thoughts? Has any one has a similar problem?
  2. Hey guys, new here. I tried the search before doing this but didn’t find too much. Maybe I did it wrong. Well I currently have a 2008 kx250f I just did my oil change 2 days ago and realized the glass having a whitish look to it. Oil that came out didn’t look milky or feel weird though. Bike as been running great and I checked my coolant and levels seem to be fine. Also my crankcase hose has a milky white oil coming out after riding... the oil in the sight glass is fine though? I also checked to my head gasket. I was told I could check it by taking the rad cap off and start the bike to see for any constant bubbles. There was no bubbles besides some little ones and the initial start up but they went away quickly. What should I do?
  3. About a month ago I had an issue with my 2018 kx250f where it would redline in every gear way too early. All bottom end and torque. She will still move quick but hitting any jumps results in an immediate Bonner air. I didn’t do anything I know of to cause it, just started happening out of no where at the track. I assumed it was a clutch issue so I took all the plates out, inspected them, relubbed with oil and put back in. It solved the issue for the time being. I rode it three more separate days at the track with no problems until I dumped it in a corner. Started it back up and it is happening again. Ordered all new clutch plates and springs, put them in and it’s still happening now. Thanks for any help.

    Engine Top End

Hello everyone! I’m brand new here so i apologize if this is in the wrong place. My top end is shot on my 2007 KX250F. Beyond repair. So, I need a new top end with cams. Now, from my understanding 06-08 models are all basically the same. What are my options? What other years/models fit and where should I go and find something that will work? Thank you!
  5. Anyone who could help would be a great help and im in the missouri area interested would be great too
  6. Finally getting this 05 KX250F up and running. It's kicking over (most times) fairly quickly. However, when it gets going it's Idling at what seems to me to be high or will die out if I start adjusting the idle adjustment. I've done the recommended jetting from 40 to 42. My question is, I know where to start the air/fuel screw but when trying to find to sweet spot for idle where do you start with the idle screw and how do you work back and forth to find a nice idle? TIA
  7. Hey guys I got a 04 kx250f had top end redone vaulves adjusted and shimed new cam tensoner and chain did heat cycles ran without choke but had to keep it going with throttle my pilot was a 40 at the time guy told me to go to 42 ordered on while waiting for that brought it to a local shop the diassembled the carb and they did a ultrasonic dip now will only start on choke and will die with choke off guy that rebuilt it says it prob spun a cam wich is common with this year but haven't even riden it just a rip down the drive way befor I took carb to get that stuff done since I put the 42 and got the dip it's been like this.. Checked for air leaks all good there Fuel.screw.2 turns out tryed 2 1/2 also Played with ideal nothing shut choke off it dies the carb slide is assembled right Help Checked for air leaks
  8. Hi, guys! 1. Why the spark plug has weak spark? (tried 3differnert, 1new) mby need new stick coil? or check wires? 2. when i ride on low rpm the engine sounds and works ok, when average rpm the engine sounds like a sucking and gaging, but on full rpm its ok! ??????????? can anyone help? sorry about language. kx250f 2008
  9. I just destroyed my kick start on my 2011 kx250f and tusk only makes one for a 2011 kx450f would the kx450f kickstart work on my 250? I'm getting tusk because I don't want to pay 170$ on a hammerhead or oem
  10. Het guys, I've got a 2012 kx250f that keeps fuel cutting in high rpms. I'm pretty sure whenever the second fuel injector activates, but not certain. I've also noticed the bike is backfiring and has some throttle response loss and power loss. Bike is also fine when its in neutral (I hit rev limiter for a sec, no fuel cutting), only when its in gear. I have no idea whats wrong with this thing, please help
  11. I have a kx250f. I bled the front brakes on it enough to completely clear the system of old fluid but the brakes still dont work at all. Now, the brake lever doesn't even return back to its original position; I can pull it all the way in with no resistance and have to push it back to its original place. anyone know what to do?
  12. HELP PLEASE!!! I just replaced the crank and main bearings on a 2010 KX250F with a Hot Rods crank and bearings kit. All went well during the rebuild thus far. When I attempt to torque (87inlb) the case bolts the crank starts to tighten up and gets worse at the case gap closes tighter. The bearings are seated all of the way. I've pulled the bearings and re-installed them to make sure that they were seated correctly. Upon inspection i noticed that the Hot Rods crank is wider than the OEM crank by roughly 1 mm. Total length is the same but the actual crank body is a little wider. I can see a very small gap between both sides of the crank and left / right case halves. However, the gap is a little bigger on the right side. The crank does not appear to be rubbing on the case though. See picture below. I can't find what the spec for this gap measurement is in the manual. My guess is that the crank being 1 mm wider than the stock is putting the bearings in a bind when I try to torque the 8mm case bolts. Any help would be appreciated. Not sure where to go from here and could use some advice.
  13. Hi all, i recently bought a kx250f that had been pulled apart by the owner due to low compression and smoke. I have since put a new piston kit in but now the bike isn't starting at all. I have checked my valves and they seem alright, I just cant seem to get my timing exact, I was wondering wether it should still start and just not run nicely or if it will stop the bike from going at all? and if maybe the cam chain has stretched? any help would be sweet! cheers
  14. Hey guys! I'm currently rebuilding my 04 kx250f and am getting towards the end! Unfortunately, when I was about to put the valve shims back they dropped onto the table and I'm not sure where they were originally now... I know it's a rookie mistake but I didn't write down which shim was with which bucket.. Is there a way to at least somewhat guess? The dimensions are 2.94, 2.95, 2.90, and 2.54. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks!
  15. I have a 2015 kx250f with around 65-70 hours on it and I’m not sure whether I should rebuild the top end or not. It has been maintained very well, only ridden on trails, the valves were just adjusted, and there are no signs that indicate a worn top end. Is it ok to keep riding until it shows signs of needing a rebuild, or should I just rebuild it now because of the high number of hours? Apologies if this is a stupid question, I couldn’t find anything on the internet about it.
  16. Hey guys, I just picked up a 2014 kx250f with 3 hours on an entire rebuild for 1700 (not running). When I got home, I was able to get the bike running, however when I come off the clutch from first, the bike stalls no matter the RPM. Is this a clutch issue? Or perhaps electrical? When I tore into the top end I did notice my exhaust valves were off spec so could this be the culprit? This is my first FI bike, so any advice helps. Thanks in advance
  17. I recently tore my 2006 kx250f down to replace a broken case. Its all back together and everything works properly except the clutch. Its a full Hinson clutch basket, hub, plates etc. Plates are in great shape, basket has no notches nor does the hub. When I pull the clutch lever in the Pressure plate lifts but it takes the basket with it. Then when you let go it gets stuck like that and you have to push the whole assembly down by hand. Then pull the lever and it does it all over again. I noticed the plates were a little hard to pull apart but i think that's just from the oil. I have no clue whats going on. Everything seems to be put together right but i can't figure it out. Any help would be much appreciated.
  18. I have a 2014 kx250f and the button for my launch control is broken. It isnt the plastic piece for it its the actually rubber part that you push to engage the button. Is there anyway I can just find the button part with out the wires or anything? I've found the OEM part for like 100$ but it comes with the wires and everything.
  19. Just wanted to share a movie I made from the ride this weekend.
  20. Okay so I just bought a 2008 kx250f, I've only rode it 3 times since I've gotten it and not on trails or anything just around the block to see how it runs, every time I've ran it, it overheats and I'll only be riding for about 10-15 mins (in about 70-80 degree weather) and the coolant is already boiling coming out of the overflow tube. After the first ride I flushed the old coolant and put engine ice rode it again still same thing. Today I took a look at the water pump and tried to turn the impeller I couldn't with my own strength I'm not sure if that's how it's supposed to be or it's supposed to turn freely. if you have any ideas on what could be causing it, it'd be greatly appreciated, thanks.
  21. Hi guys any response would be great. So I just got this 2015 kx250f like 3 weeks ago and I haven't got to riding it that much but since then I've already noticed a few things that are a little abnormal. Whenever the bike is warmed up or even ridden for a while the clutch seems to be jerky and not smooth when taking off from stop. what could be causing this jerkyness? I've replaced the oil in the bike and adjusted the clutch line, nothing helped. When the bike is rolling I can shift the bike into neutral but not when stopped (while the bike is running of course). Also the one that is really concerning me- whenever the bike is cold started(and idling), idling( when warmed up) or cruising in low rpm and trying to accelerate I hear this knocking noise. But whenever I'm revving the bike just a little bit all the way to high rpms the noise seems to go away. It doesn't loose any power and it's only at really low rpms. I can confirm it's coming from the engine and not the chain since I've adjusted the chain to spec. Thanks in advance
  22. Hello all, UPDATED: I believe I found out what is suppose to be mounted in the front frame bracket area. It looks like the Vehicle-down Sensor gets mounted on a bracket that is secured to the the area that I am originally asking. If that is the case, I believe I am missing the mounting bracket (OEM P/N: 11055-1541) that the vehicle-down sensor is secured to, then what gets mounted to this bracket (picture of where the current vehicle-down sensor is mounted, pic with my hand, third pic). I am in the process of putting my 2014 kx250f back together from an engine removal, frame cleaning, etc process and this is the furthest I have taken a bike (electronics removed, etc). Now as I am putting it back together, I am confused on what gets mounted to the front frame bracket in the pics below. It is the smaller alum bracket that is welded the front part of the frame (2 smaller holes, in vertical alignment). I looked throughout the service manual and I am at a loss. Thanks in advance!
  23. So, I just purchased a used 2014 KX250f yesterday that I found a great deal on. Guy just wanted it gone. The only problem I am running into is the swingarm/rear wheel alignment. I have the pictures right below. I know the rear fender is off to the left a little but when I compared the wheel to the seat and frame, it still looks off. To me, in person, it looks as if the swingarm or the rear wheel is shifted to the right. I don't know exactly how to tell if it is off. Is there any measurement I can take? Also, if it is off. How can I fix it? I haven't been able to ride it yet to see if I can feel it out. I live in the suburbs, and I can't get to the track until this weekend. I can take more pics from different angles if you need me too. Any help will be appreciated. Also, I got the engine mapping plugs from the guy who owned it, but he didn't have any knowledge of how to use them. I know what the white, green, and black plugs do, I just don't know where to plug one in. When I was looking over the bike, there were a lot of plugs that looked just the same. So I'm not sure which one to exchange.
  24. Ok so I wanted to check out my sparkpkug while my tank was off and it was fine but I shined my light down the hole to check it out and it seemed dirty at the very bottom. Would could cause this? Is it normal the plug didn't have any oil or nothing on it. The other problem is when I ride my bike for atleast 5 or 10 min after the first ride of the day it will die with the choke off it only runs with the choke on do i need to clean the Carb?
  25. Hi, I am not sure what to do about an issue I'm having with my 2011 KX 250F any suggestions thanks Checked the oil level it was good, started it with the high idle on, started on 3rd kick, shut high idle off 30 sec later, let it idle normally for 3 min. Drove down road about 500 ft, never reached high RPMs yet, it squealed and skidded to a stop, left it for 2 min (trying to figure out what to do) pushed down the Kickstarter slowly seemed normal plenty of compression, kicked it over and wouldn't start unless I gave it some gas, let it run for 30 sec and cycled through all the gears no issues, I drove it back to my shop and let off the throttle and it died. Tried to start it the next day it will fire but won't run, checked the camshaft clearance is good (it was replaced about 6 months ago, after a similar issue of the bike skidding to a stop) what else should I check before taking it to the shop, thanks
