    HELP!! Just got a crf450r

Ok so I just got a 2007 crf450r starts up amazing and has great compression but I have some concerns 1. It kinda backfires when shifting down. 2. The top end makes a little clicking sounds nothing to bad but louder then my rmz250. 3. It sat for a while so the gas I'm guessing is bad but it gets really hot 4.I turned the gas valve off to clear out the carb and the bike refused to die it idles down but won't stop running. 5.I'm a auto mechanic but have never worked on dirtbike engines should I attempt to check valves and do a piston. Keep in mind I'm a diagnostic tech.
  2. Okay so I've just about had it with my bike which is sad because I love it but I keep having issues. At the end of last season my bike stalled out on me indefinitely so I took it to a shop to have the valves replaced. The guy had it for like 6 months so I got aggravated and scooped in from him, he said he did the job but the timing was still off, so I took it to another shop to make sure he did the job and to fix the timing. Even after the second shop did all that it was still verrry hard to start. But then last weekend my muffler slid off a little while riding and while trying to get it home it stalled out on me and absolutely would not fire again. Its a good powerful bike when it starts but Idk what's wrong with it if it has fresh valves, spark, and fuel. Any suggestions will help at this point thank you

    2002 crf450r lighting

I have a 2002 crf450r that I want to put a led light bar infront of the handle bars. I want to wire it without having to install a battery. If I buy the trailtech stator and the trailtech regulator rectifier and an on/off switch will it work without a battery? Every where I read it says you have to install a battery, is this true? I know the led has to run on DC power and the stator puts out AC power so the rectifier will fix that. Anyone who has suggestions or has done this before I would appreciate the info.
  4. Hey guys What's your thoughts on installing non genuine Honda head and base gaskets on a crf450r?
  5. Just bought this bike, but this noise has gotten louder and louder. To me it sounds like the cam chain, but I tool off the valve cover and I don't feel any slack. Any ideas?

    All engine oil consumed?

Just bought a used bike, noticed the oil was black, did a complete flush and change with filter, then rode about 3 hours worth, checked my oil sight glass and it was absolutely empty, even tried tipping the bike, and I couldn't see any in the window. I don't see any oil leaks, the exhaust is a little blue, but an entire quart in 3 hours? Any ideas what could be causing this or where the hell my oil is?

    Won't kick over

Hey I have a 05 crf450r... And I don't know how many hours are on it.. But it roll starts just fine and runs good... But it won't kick over.. Unless it's warm and I haven't let it sit for more then about 1 minute... Besides that I could kick my leg off and nothing would happen
  8. Hey Guys, I’m doing some preseason maintenance work and it came to my attention that I have two bikes in the garage that had the factory brake fluid in them. The first bike is a 2011 that had been broken in and stored for years as the owner decided it was a bit too much bike for him. The bike has 20 hours run time but had 9 year old brake fluid. The second bike is a 2014 I bought in the crate and didn’t assemble it until 2016. At that time I replaced the factory oil and coolant as it had sat for 2 years and I didn’t want to start it with the old fluids. I neglected the brake fluid so that was 5+ years old. Both back brakes had really dark fluid and the 2014 bike took longer to clear than the 2011 however the 14 has 65 hours of run time. The front brakes on both bikes were better so I’m chalking this up to more fluid in the system. So if you’re like me and haven’t done your brakes lately it’s something you can do alone and it’s inexpensive.

    (Help) 2018 CRF450R valve tick

I just bought a new 2018 crf450r and I did an hour break in period on it split into 3 heat cycles like I always do. Towards the end of my break in period the valves started ticking on deceleration only. It sounds fine at idle and when accelerating. I thought it might be the chain because it loosens up after the first ride so I adjusted it and it still ticks when decelerating so I checked the valve clearances. I got 0.010 on both exhaust and 0.005 and 0.006 on the intakes. According to the owners manual they are in spec. This is my first Honda I've always been on Yamaha and Kawasaki so what do you guys think?
