Hello , I’m about to buy a 2016 drz400e and it has 9000kms on it would it be a good buy for $5000 and how long would drzs normally last mechanicaly in kms ?

Have a drz400s stock with 3x3 mod, fcr39 mx all rebuilt and new jets, checked and no air leaks, 800ft elevation and about 10celcius 155 main jet 40 pilot Red jd needle 3rd clip 200 main air 100 slow air Bike runs well through sll throttle but has a hanging idle and does not idle well, fuel screw seems to have little effect and still runs with it all the way in, the idle adjustment does work and i can turn it up or down. Were do i go from here, already went from a 42 to 40 pilot jet which helped

I'm sure this has been answered before but I couldn't find an answer. Im a bit of a newbie and just bought a 2013 drz400sm. Someone locally is selling Warp 9's(18/21) that were off an E. While searching the forums I found that warp 9's quality wasn't the best but have made some improvement over the years. I also read someone said there spacers didn't fit going taking them off an E to SM. Ever heard of this? I know that to make it work I'd need: -sm rotors -swap brake pads/calipers everytime -anything else? -
Hey guys, my buddy was messing around with my 2001drz400e and I guess he poked a hole in the bottom of my carb. I was having some fuel leak issues after installing the raptor petcock, with the thought to tighten what we believe was the fuel screw at the bottom of the carb ( was as loose as a tooth) a puncture happened to the bolt right next to it. Not too sure where or how to go about fixing this.

Forgive me if this has been asked before, I did search. I was wondering if anyone has a template for the various plastic parts that can be covered with stickers. I have the ability to print custom stickers of any size, I would like to make custom graphics. I was wondering if anyone has blank Photoshop canvases of the right size and shape. Also if someone wants to create it, I'll give you a free set of whatever you design.

So I have a 2003 Drz400s with a full fmf power core 4 exhaust. I was riding the other day and I realized it was running a little rough and the gas seemed to be getting low so I swung by the gas station and got my usual 93. Was riding for about 5 mins and the bike started running even rougher and began backfiring quite a bit and eventually shut off. I started it up rode another quarter mile and it backfired even more before shutting off and not being able to start again. Took it home and began researching, I figured the jets were clogged so I tore it apart and realized that it was not ever jetted and did not have 3x3 mod so I bought the JD jet kit and did the air box mod. It has a uni air filter by the way. Put everything back together after putting in new jet kit (160 mj, 25 pilot, 4th clip blue needle 2.5 turns out) and replaced the spark plug which was needed. Went to start it up and it starts and idles for a few seconds but anytime I try to give it gas it dies AND anytime I try to start it with the choke ON it will not start, it only starts with the choke off, I messed with fuel screw trying to adjust it and I got it to a pretty good idle but still every time I touch the gas it sometimes backfires a little then dies. Could it be bad gas, fuel line or what? I can smell fuel every time I start it but it just doesn’t seem like it’s getting any when I go to give it throttle. Any Help or advise would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! -

Hello everyone I am new to forums and this will be my first supermoto. I used to ride streetbikes but I want something a little less hard on my wrists. So I just did a bunch of seasonal stuff to my DRZ 400 (oil, filters, plug, carb rebuild, etc...) Bike ran fine before I started the maintenance. After I swapped the stock plug for the Iridium version the bike wouldn't stay idling so I swapped back to a new basic plug, same issue. Thought maybe all the maintenance caused something to clog the carb. Went ahead and rebuilt it. Same issue. Went on here for some diagnostic help. Saw a discussion that mentioned unplugging the 3 yellow wires to the stator. That worked, so what does that mean. What should I be doing next and what part may I need to replace? Any type of help here would be appreciated. Photos and step by step for dummies is a plus.

On my 2008 rmz 450, at 1/4 throttle there's this horrible studder. It started about a month ago. The bike has about 70 hours on it i bought it later last year and never had a problem with it. The only thing that i changed on it was the header pipe it had the stock one and i tweaked it where it was making a weird noise so i replaced it with a stock one. Things i have tried............................ New spark plug Cleaned the air filter Oil change Checked the valves one exhaust is on the loose side but not out of spec. I may try injector cleaner but idk if thats ok for these bikes. Any help is appreciated thanks in advance

So this has been an abnoxious one, I bought this bike about 8 months ago and it has always run perfectly, about a month and a half ago I installed the IMS 4 gallon tank and tusk billet cap and it has continued to run perfectly until less than a week ago. Now it will start to starve for fuel every 5 min or so unless I loosen the cap to relieve tank pressure. It seems to do fine if I driving backroads at a sub 30mph pace, but if I get on the highway it quickly build pressure and cuts out. The tank has always built pressure when I was riding, and hissed viciously when i refueled but had no fuel delivery issues until less than a week ago, I could nearly drain the tank without opening it, and it would never cut out. Could the vacuum assisted petcock have possibly worn out? Is it normal for the tank to build pressure? I was under the impression that the fuel cap would relieve all pressure. So far I have checked the vacuum line over and over, taken apart the tusk fuel cap and blasted the parts with hot water, removed fuel filter, then installed it again when I noticed no difference. The bike noticeably regains power while I'm driving and I loosen the cap.

Recently bought a case saver via Amazon dude to the high shipping fees associated all over hell and back. I also found out it didn't exactly match up... Although it says it's part specific for my bike I'm assuming it's for an older model. I also Rock guarded the face. Now my question is how do the case savers from thumper talk it? Is there any gap like the one in my below picture.

Hi, I have recently replaced the fuel valve on my fuel tank since the previous one was leaking then when I started the bike up noticed this wierd sound never heard it before. At first I thought the oil was low so I drained the oil from the outlet in the frame and refilled it with 15w50 oil took about 1.5L to correct level didn't notice any metal fragments of any kind. Radiator fluid is good. It is a 2006 model with about 23000km on it. No big bore but does have a wossner piston. No 3x3 airbox mod. The engine was rebuilt at 10000km. I'd like to see how those of you running a vapor or Voyager are routing your speed sensor line. Mine keeps screwing up, kinking out and making the reading zero or fluctuating all over. Mine is ziptied to the brake line, clearly not a good strategy though.

Hello everyone, my names is Nicco and it's my first time on thumper talk. Now my question is are there any good dirtbike like Suzuki rmz 450 or Honda crf 450 that have low maintenance and good power? I really wanted to buy a drz but I had a 125 4stroke and it was heavy so I can only image how does it feel with a drz I basically have a trip to do this September 700 k on the go and back and if I needed to do the maintenance once for the trip I was going to accept that but I'm pretty sure that any dirtbike will have damage for doing tha -

Bought myself a JD jet kit, I have the fcr 39 MX carb, full yoshi RS2 pipe and air box mod (with the side also cut out ( previous owner did it ) can anyone reccomend jet sizes for me? I'll be using the low altitude / cold temperature needle as I'm in the UK Thanks in advance!

So changed the oil today and realized I did not replace the o ring between the filter and engine. Am I doomed to have my bike size and toss me over the handlebars? If I pull filter to replace it will all oil drain from engine and frame?.... Messy TIA Mike

Hey thumper talk! Long story short I have a 2000 drz400s that just got a new rebuilt engine after my previous one blew. The rebuilt was done fine and the bike was running perfectly. I decided to do some trail riding a couple days ago and the bike fell. It started up no problem and I continued home. Yesterday I was doing some city riding and I ran out of gas, I tried switching to reserve but the bike didn't want to start. I refilled the tank and everything seemed fine; now today I was riding on the highway and it started to stall and die as if it ran empty again but it wasn't and it would only start on prime. I can switch it to on after with the choke on but the second I take it off choke the bike dies unless it is set to prime. Would it be possible that when the bike fell dirt could of gotten into the carb and clogged a jet? I doubt theres something wrong with the engine. Could it maybe be a vacuum line? This already happened before the old engine blew at the beginning of the season I cleaned the carb and it seemed to be fine. I just need some ideas because I don't want to clean the carb again if that is not the issue. There has also been high humidity in my area for the past 2 days, would that cause the carb to act up? *Edit* ok so I took the bike for a long test run today I tried turning it on in the "on" position; it only starts on choke and then after some time on choke it dies, if I try switching the choke of it also dies. It runs like normal on prime I was able to drive it on my daily route. Im starting to think that the petcock is the problem but I will check to see if the boots on the carb got loose. There also seems to be a loud ticking noise but not the typical drz ticking noise. *edit pt 2* I've given up! My drz is just weird. On my way home from school it decided that it was going to start working again normally. I didn't touch anything, all I did was start it in the "on" position with choke on. It died twice and on the third time it stayed opened I kept the throttle open to see if it would choke out but it didn't I was able to ride it home with no issues. I really don't know what the problem could be? It seems to be fine now. As for the clicking noise, I discovered that it was a loose bolt on the exhaust tip, tightened it up and the noise is gone.

Hey all, I've just picked up a set of old school hot cams stg 2, but most info related to them is dated. So I wanted to ask a few questions. Given that the lift and duration are identical for both intake and exhaust, and the lobe centres are adjustable, does that mean if I only use the intake cam then I could move the exhaust cam on for someone else to use as an intake with some degreeing? Does anybody know why there were discontinued? Did they snap valve springs? Are aftermarket valve springs recommended? I've noticed the ltz guys seem to consider drz valve springs upgrade enough. Has any body been running theirs hard for 10 years with no problems? Are there other issues I should be wary of? I'm aware theres no decomp on the stg 2 ex, I don't have one on my e model exhaust either so I'm familiar with the way it starts, even with a lithium battery.

Hey I have a 2003 drz 400 s I'm trying to just make it a offroad bike not really using it on the street. But I want to get a more moder front suspension set up and I was wondering if anyone knows how I can go about doing this can I just throw some newer rm 250 or 450 forks on it with the bikes original triple clamps or would I need to get a whole new triple clamp for the rm 250 or 450 forks? And if so would the triple clamps bolt to the frame or would I have to modify some how

I am currently running 10w 40 Belray non synthetic and I want to switch to full synthetic amsoil .... is it ok to switch from regular to synthetic? I have read it’s not safe to go from synthetic to regular can someone explain if it’s safe to go from regular to synthetic!? Thanks ! -
I ride street. I love top end. 6 gears would be great. Minimal maintenance is a plus. Extensive parts to choose from. What would be the next bike to get? I would buy new.

Hey guys, Looking to buy my next bike here soon but no matter how many reviews I watch and research I do, I just can’t make up my mind. I’m upgrading from my anemic crf250l, And want a good ADV bike that I can rip around in the woods and occasionally drive on the road to get to trails (not too much highway riding). With that being said… I really like the Drz400. The torque, the suspension, the aftermarket support etc. But the used market is quite inflated, and for the price I spend on a good newer/low mileage/taken care of Drz, I could buy a practically new Klx300 with EFI. I’ve been riding for years, but I’m honestly scared of having a carbureted bike. Plus coming from team Honda, maintenance issues haven’t really been a problem in my riding career. So what’s been your experience with the drz400? Is the carb a nightmare? Is it full of maintenance issues and headaches? As the bike gets older will I experience problems more frequently? And do you think I’d be better off spending my hard earned money on the smaller cc but EFI Klx300? Thanks!

Had a slow motion drop on my drz yesterday and cracked the stator case. After removing the case I noticed this damage. I’m by no means a mechanic or do I understand how this component of the moto works. Just wondering if anyone thinks I should replace the flywheel. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks.
