  2. MINNEAPOLIS, MN - January 7, 2015 - (Motor Sports Newswire) - As part of RZR’s continuing innovation and commitment to its enthusiasts, Polaris is announcing several new models featuring new paint schemes and graphics, and a new RZR XP 1000 EPS model with the first-ever Internal Bypass Shocks available on a side-by-side. The new RZR XP 1000 EPS FOX Edition is hands-down, the best performing suspension ever offered on a sport Side by Side, featuring highly-tuned FOX Podium® Internal Bypass Shocks, re-tuned coil-over springs, new front stabilizer bar and softer rear bar. The vehicle offers the next generation of suspension innovation that takes Razor Sharp Performance to a whole new level. The new FOX Podium® Internal Bypass Shocks found on the RZR XP 1000 EPS FOX Edition generates highly-progressive damping that gives the vehicle a plush ride with all the bottom-out resistance expected from an ultra-performance off-road vehicle. The shocks have large diameter bodies (3 in/7.6 cm rear, 2.5 in/6.4 cm front), reservoirs and increased fluid capacity for dramatic improvements in heat dissipation, fade resistance and durability. The internal bypass technology offers more zones than a conventional shock for better tenability and performance for the smoothest ride available on a side-by-side and better handling over a wider range of terrain at any speed. To complement the new shock package, Polaris outfitted the RZR XP 1000 EPS FOX Edition with redesigned coil-over springs. The progressive rate upper spring is a lighter-weight spring that absorbs small impacts while the stiffer, main spring maintains ground clearance and absorbs bigger impacts in rough terrain. The RZR XP 1000 EPS FOX Edition also is the first RZR XP to feature a front sway bar and also has a redesigned rear sway bar with 25 percent less stiffness. Combined with the FOX Podium Internal Bypass Shocks, the sway bars dramatically decrease body roll and improve vehicle handling and comfort. Along with the new suspension package, the RZR XP 1000 EPS FOX Edition features Matte Turbo Silver paint, cut and sew seats, new graphics package, innovative 6-Point harnesses and the Polaris Interactive Digital Display which is an integrated, industry-leading LCD display and gauge with full-featured GPS, mapping capability and compass. The display also features integrated Bluetooth functionality and shows the speedometer, tachometer, dual trip meters, odometer and maintenance warnings along with a digital clock, and operating conditions including fuel level and diagnostics. The RZR XP 1000 EPS FOX Edition will be available in dealerships starting in February 2015. Along with the new RZR XP 1000 EPS FOX Edition, Polaris also is announcing several other new models with new paint scheme and graphics which include the following: 2015 RZR® 570 EPS Black Pearl Additional features on this model include: Electronic Power Steering Engine Braking System (EBS) TURF Mode Sealed under hood storage Maxxis Tires with Cast Aluminum Rims High / Low beam headlights Black Pearl paint Custom graphics package Custom cut & sew seats with RZR emblem Color-matched painted front and rear suspension springs 2015 RZR® 900 EPS Trail Blue Fire Electronic Power Steering High Performance Close Ratio AWD Engine Braking System (EBS) TURF Mode Driver’s Side Seat Slider Cast Aluminum Rims Blue Fire paint Custom graphics package Custom cut & sew seats with RZR emblem Color-matched painted front and rear suspension springs 2015 RZR® 900 EPS Trail Gloss Nuclear Sunset Electronic Power Steering High Performance Close Ratio AWD Engine Braking System (EBS) TURF Mode Driver’s Side Seat Slider Cast Aluminum Rims Nuclear Sunset paint Custom graphics package Custom cut & sew seats with RZR emblem Color-matched painted front and rear suspension springs 2015 RZR® S 900 EPS Voodoo Blue Electronic Power Steering High Performance Close Ratio AWD Driver’s Side Seat Slider High Performance Steering Wheel Voodoo Blue paint Custom graphics package Custom cut & sew seats with RZR emblem Color-matched painted front and rear suspension springs 2015 RZR® S 900 EPS Stealth Black Electronic Power Steering High Performance Close Ratio AWD Driver’s Side Seat Slider High Performance Steering Wheel Stealth Black paint Custom graphics package Custom cut & sew seats with RZR emblem Color-matched painted front and rear suspension springs 2015 RZR® XP 1000 EPS Stealth Black Electronic Power Steering Stealth Black paint Custom graphics package Custom cut & sew seats with RZR emblem Color-matched painted front and rear suspension springs 2015 RZR® XP 1000 EPS Orange Madness Electronic Power Steering Orange Madness paint Custom graphics package Custom cut & sew seats with RZR emblem Color-matched painted front and rear suspension springs 2015 RZR® XP 4 1000 EPS White Lightning (Monochrome) Electronic Power Steering White Lightning paint Custom graphics package Custom cut & sew seats with RZR emblem Color-matched painted front and rear suspension springs All models will be available in dealerships starting in January.
  3. Three weeks ago, I got my father-in-law's Xplorer back up and running (low compression - bored cylinder, replaced piston, rings and case seals, jug and head gaskets, plus cleaned dirt dauber nests out of carburetor) and it was running great when he picked it up and took it home. Life was SO GOOD! Now it's back in my driveway with no spark. Knew the start/run/stop switch was questionable (father-in-law's FATHER had it apart...), but I took it apart, put things right and right now it rings out correctly. Disconnecting the black wire from the CDI box gives me spark, but it looks kinda weak. Still appears like it should light a fuel/oil/air mixture. Checked for shorts to ground in the ignition switch and start/run/stop switch, per the manual - none found. Not sure how to check for short to ground in the reverse rev limiter. Also having a little trouble deciphering instructions on checking exciter coil, ignition coil and CDI box. Deer season is almost upon us, and Dad would be eternally grateful if I could get this thing running for him - AGAIN! As such, I would be eternally grateful for any help/advice on making it happen. Thanks in advance - Chris
  4. Sportsman ACE is Confidence-Inspiring and Fun to Ride MINNEAPOLIS, MN – January 23, 2014 – (Motor Sports Newswire) – Polaris® Industries Inc. (NYSE: PII), the leading manufacturer of off-road vehicles, today announced the company is defining an entirely-new type of off-road vehicle with the introduction of the Sportsman® ACE. The vehicle’s architecture is completely new to the industry and features a revolutionary, sit-in chassis that is nimble and comfortable to operate. The design of the new Sportsman ACE provides a confidence-inspired ride, all while being trail-capable, offering an all-new off-road experience. “The introduction of the Sportsman ACE is part of our strategy to remain the leader in the powersports marketplace by introducing innovative products that define their categories,” said David Longren, vice president of Polaris’ Off-Road Division. “In creating the Sportsman ACE, we wanted to not only appeal to current off-road enthusiasts, but develop a vehicle that brings new customers to off-road recreation. We accomplished this by coupling an easy-to-use, nimble platform with a confident and secure ride that, together, provides drivers of all experience levels a new way to experience the outdoors.” The revolutionary, new design combines the size and nimble handling of the Sportsman All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV), and the confidence and comfort of the RANGER and RZR side-by-sides, in a rider-centric design with a trail-capable and easily-transportable 48 in/121.9 cm width. A comfortable and confidence-inspiring centralized seating position connects the driver directly with the machine for a new off-road riding experience. Polaris also positioned all the major components, including the driver, centralized between the four wheels for an incredibly responsive ride. The Sportsman ACE boasts 10.25 in/26.04 cm of ground clearance and 9.5 in/24.1 cm of rear travel due to its fully independent rear suspension (IRS) outfitted with performance, twin tube shocks featuring adjustable preload. Seasoned riders will appreciate the overall vehicle performance, handling and smooth riding suspension, while novice riders will enjoy the secure riding position and the right amount of power to get them down the trail. Powering the Sportsman ACE is an all-new 32 horsepower ProStar™ Electronic Fuel Injected (EFI) Engine featuring an internal counter-balance shaft for smooth, vibration-free power. The dual overhead camshafts and a 4-valve cylinder head work with the advanced engine management system to precisely deliver the fuel charge for impressive power and instant, predictable throttle response; while the lightweight efficient transmission captures every ounce of power to deliver it to the ground. The engine is designed to reduce internal friction which dramatically reduces noise and significantly increases efficiency making it the most fuel-efficient engine Polaris has offered. This coupled with the 5.25 gal/19.87 liter fuel tank provides the vehicle with excellent range for long trail rides. For a secure and comfortable ride, the Sportsman ACE has a unique ROPS cab frame only previously found on side-by-sides. The secure, high-backed, adjustable bucket seat is paired with an adjustable steering wheel to give the driver unmatched flexibility when it comes to comfort in the machine. It’s also equipped with a 3-point seat belt, and has side bolsters to keep the operator properly positioned in the center of the machine. The steering wheel offers 3.5 in/8.9 cm of tilt adjustment and the driver’s seat slides back and forth by 4 in/10.2 cm to customize the fit for the rider. For added comfort, an integrated dead pedal gives the driver a place to perch their left foot while the right nests in the integrated heel pocket and throttles the powerful ProStar engine. The cockpit’s flow-through design also makes ingress and egress easy, and new side nets feature a metal rod to easily secure them both for clipping and positioning the nets to the back of the vehicle while exiting. The vehicle also is equipped with powerful halogen lighting so the fun doesn’t stop when the sun goes down. For the utmost confidence on the trail, the Sportsman ACE is equipped with the same legendary On-Demand True All-Wheel Drive (AWD) system found on all Polaris Off-Road Vehicles. The system eliminates the guesswork by automatically engaging when the rider needs more forward traction and then reverts back to two-wheel drive automatically when the AWD is no longer needed. While zipping down the trail, the driver also has assured stopping power from the linked, four-wheel disc brakes with braided stainless steel brake lines that provide optimum response and minimal fade. For added protection on the trail, accessories such as doors, front and rear brushguards, rock sliders, and a variety of custom wheel and tire packages not only protect the vehicle but add a more customized look. To protect the driver from the elements, a Lock & Ride roof, windshield and rear panel install in seconds to offer a quick solution for all climates. Polaris off-road vehicles have built an unprecedented reputation for helping owners get work done and the storage capability of the new Sportsman ACE is no different. With an integrated 2.8 gal/10.6 liter semi-dry, front storage compartment, and a high-capacity Lock & Ride® cargo box with rack extenders and rear tie-down rails, that also accepts the accessory Lock & Ride cargo box for additional dry storage, the vehicle can carry up to 575 lb/260 kg of gear. The Sportsman ACE is pre-wired for the installation of a winch with up to 3,500 lb/1587 kg of capacity, and the hardest-working DNA of Sportsman was further instilled with a 1,500 lb/680 kg towing capacity, for capability whether it’s time to work or play. Polaris will also offer more than 25 accessories for Sportsman ACE including doors, winches, cabs and storage to suit their needs. The Sportsman ACE is available in White Lightning and will be in dealerships in February.

Polaris New RZR XP 4 1000

Three months ago, Polaris introduced the RZR® XP 1000, which brought incredible innovations to each of the hallmark Power, Suspension and Agility aspects ofRZR®, and added an entirely new level of interior comfort and accessory customization. In true Polaris fashion of aggressively bringing vehicles to market that suit the needs of all off-road enthusiasts, the company is introducing the all-new RZR® XP 4 1000, which offers the ultimate RZR experience for four. “RZR has defined the recreational side-by-side market, outselling the competition five to one, and owning a RZR has become a lifestyle allowing for social adventure,” said Craig Scanlon, general manager for RZR Off-Road Vehicles at Polaris. “Our four-seatRZRs provide off-road enthusiasts the ability to share that lifestyle with more of their family and friends, and the new RZR XP 4 1000 is the ultimate in outdoor adventure for four.” The RZR XP 4 1000 is the ultimate multi-passenger side-by-side, with all the same attributes as the RZR XP 1000: 107 horsepower ProStar™ engine with a true 999 ccs of displacement, 3-Link Trailing Arm Independent Rear Suspension (IRS) with exclusive Walker Evans position-sensitive, anti-bottoming needle shocks, the first-OEM offered 29 in/73.7 cm Maxxis Bighorn tires, high-strength tubular chassis and a high-performance on demand all-wheel drive system; with the addition of the most advanced suspension for performance driving and family cruising, and additional cabin comforts to not only accommodate two more passengers, but also provide the smoothest, most-enjoyable ride on a high-performance side-by-side. The ultimate combination of power, suspension and agility starts with power. At the heart of the RZR XP 4 1000 is the 107 horsepower ProStar™ Twin EFI engine that was built specifically for an extreme-performance side-by-side and first found in the RZR XP 1000. The engine features Dual OverHead Cams (DOHC), four big valves per cylinder and dual throttle bodies for immediate response making the RZR XP 4 1000 the fastest accelerating four-seater on the market. The engine also provides unmatched torque across the RPM range for ample power to carry four people under any riding conditions. In order to handle the massive power of the engine and keep the ride smooth, the RZR XP 4 1000 features the most advanced suspension for performance driving and family cruising. The RZR XP 4 1000 has industry-exclusive Walker Evans Position Sensitive Anti-Bottoming Needle Shocks on all four corners with stronger rear shocks and retuned valving at all four corners to ensure a smooth ride for front and rear passengers. To perfectly match the ride to the terrain and number of passenger, the shocks have piggyback reservoirs up front and remote reservoirs in the rear that are 16-position compression adjustable with preload adjustability. They are paired on all four corners with dual rate/dual spring coil-overs for 18 in/45.7 cm of rear travel and 16 in/40.6 cm of front travel, and industry-exclusive 29 in/73.7 cm Maxxis Bighorn tires which provide more air volume for a smoother ride and fewer pinch flats. With a longer wheelbase and 13.5 in/34.3 cm ground clearance, the RZR XP 4 1000 provides the most control and smoothest ride for all passengers. For RZR sharp agility, the RZR XP 4 1000 has a new tubular chassis that reduces flex to keep the tires planted for precise cornering and an ultra-responsive feel. Paired with a lower cab frame, as compared to the RZR 4 900, and a flat second row of seating, which pushes the center of gravity low into the chassis, the RZR XP 4 1000 provides an incredibly nimble and responsive feel. For a more confidence-inspired ride, the vehicle is equipped with a new, high performance All-Wheel Drive (AWD) system that seamlessly engages both front wheels with full torque to keep the front wheels pulling stronger and longer, maximizing power delivery to the ground in every condition. The RZR XP 4 1000 also comes equipped with Electronic Power Steering (EPS) to reduce steering effort and provide all-day comfort while riding. Inside the cabin, the RZR XP 4 1000 features several upgrades for the most comfort and convenience of any RZR. Up front, both the driver and front passenger will appreciate the seat sliders for tool-less, on-the-fly seat adjustment and space-optimized footrests for a more secure feel. The driver will appreciate a high-performance steering wheel with 10 in/25.4 cm of tilt adjustability. To stay connected, the RZR XP 4 1000 also features sealed smartphone storage that provides visibility of the display while protecting it from the elements. The rear passengers will enjoy a roomier rear cabin due to deeper footwells with angled footrests and sculpted front seats that provide more legroom. The rear seats also are equipped with cup holders and a 12-volt outlet for added convenience. All passengers will appreciate the newly-designed seats that offer substantially improved bolstering and more hip cushioning for a more secure feel, and a new film technology under the cover for a drier ride in wet conditions. Both the front and rear row have the slick blue LED floor lighting and floor cleanouts. RZR XP 4 1000 features larger openings and a lower step-in height, for both front and rear passengers, for easier ingress and egress. The factory-installed quarter doors were designed for more elbow room and are equipped with a high-strength, easy-access latch for one hand operation and automotive-quality latching. RZR enthusiasts love to accessorize their vehicles and the RZR XP 4 1000 was exclusively engineered for Polaris accessories. With integrated mounting points situated along the vehicle frame and pass-through areas for routing wires, accessories can be attached with minimal installation time. Additions, such as rock sliders and bumpers, easily attach and fit securely to the vehicle’s frame due to Polaris’ innovative Lock & Ride® Expanding Anchor; a revolutionary piece of hardware that expands as it is inserted into a mounting point. Lock & Ride® windshields, rear panels, roofs and doors work seamlessly with each other and install directly onto the vehicle frame’s designated mounting points, making installation simple, and providing superior fit and finish. The RZR XP 4 1000 will be offered in White Lightning and Titanium Matte Metallic, and will be available at Polaris dealerships in November. More information about Polaris’ whole line of Off-Road Vehicle offerings and Polaris Engineered Accessories can be found online at www.Polaris.com.
  6. MEDINA, MN – July 3, 2014 – (Motor Sports Newswire) – Polaris Industries Inc. (NYSE: PII), the leading manufacturer of off-road vehicles, today announced the Model Year 2015 RZR XP® 1000 and RZR XP® 4 1000 will feature a higher output 110 horsepower to dominate the dunes, desert, trails, race track or anything that stands in their way. Introduced for Model Year 2014, the RZR XP 1000 and XP 4 1000 brought significant innovations to each of the hallmark Power, Suspension and Agility aspects of RZR while adding a new level of interior comfort and accessory customization. The vehicles were built for the pinnacle of performance with an all-new Polaris ProStar® 1000 engine that provided an industry-leading 107 horsepower with a true 999cc of displacement, making it the most powerful and largest engine in its class. For 2015, Polaris ups the ante again by giving the class-leading vehicles an incremental power upgrade to keep RZR at the top of its game. “As always, RZR has been the leader of recreational side-by-sides due to their ultimate combination of power, suspension and agility,” said Craig Scanlon, general manager of Polaris Side-by-Side Vehicles. “Even though we just launched the RZR XP 1000 and XP 4 1000 last year, we’re always looking to improve upon every aspect of our vehicles’ performance.” To achieve 110 horsepower, the 2015 RZR XP 1000 and XP 4 1000 feature a new calibration with high-output cams, stiffer valve springs and a higher compression ratio of 11:1. The upgraded horsepower further increases the RZR XP 1000 and XP 4 1000 dominance in power with nine-percent more power than anything else in their classes. A revised exhaust system, incorporating closed loop control and catalyst technology, enables the ProStar 1000 to not simply add power, but also be cleaner and more efficient. To handle the increased power, the 2015 RZR XP 1000 and XP 4 1000 feature new direct flow intake covers, new belt and a new clutch cover with more ducting providing two times more airflow directly to the clutches. The RZR XP 1000 will be available in Havasu Red Pearl, Voodoo Blue and White Lightning, and the RZR XP 4 1000 in Havasu Red Pearl and Voodoo Blue. All units feature standard Electronic Power Steering (EPS) and will be available in dealerships starting in July.

  8. http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=399_1481584436 Statesboro, GA - A 10-year-old boy was lying face down in the dirt. The top bar of a flipped ATV was pressing the back of his neck. Hundreds of pounds of metal were pressing the life out of him. He was turning blue. Today, that 10-year-old boy is at home with a few bruises and scratches. The moments between then and now were captured by dash cam video. Sgt. Rey Rodriguez was patrolling along I-16 when a call came through the Bulloch County Sheriff's Office reporting a traffic accident on private property. When Rodriguez pulled up, he saw an ATV tipped on its side. Video captures the moment he comes around the side and realizes a boy is trapped beneath.
  9. Traded a 96 KX125 for this bike. In kinda bad shape, wasn't running when I got it. Plastics are complete trash, missing a few brackets and bolts, the swing arms been custom extended 6 inches and it comes with a few neat parts for it. The problem: Cleaned the carburetor thoroughly to brand new condition, all jets seem fine and clean. Put the stuff back together and the bike struggles to start. Backfires quite a bit as well during turning over: It blew the carburetor out of its boot before when it was a bit loose, and when it backfired through the exhaust it gave a good spout of fire. Usually comes through the carburetor though. When it does run, the idle cannot be set low. If its too low, it kills itself. But, it blows like a blue smokey haze through the exhaust, almost like a 2 stroke. The smoke does not smell of engine oil, but more of gas. Also when turned off and ran for a little, it tends to make like smoke tendrils come from the exhaust even when off, like a 2 stroke thats been running very rich and has been turned off. A friend of mine said that the valves need possible shimming, but I dont know how to do this... Any advice is WELCOME. Pics availble on request
  10. MINNEAPOLIS, MN - April 19, 2016 - (Motor Sports Newswire) - Polaris Industries (NYSE: PII) jointly announced with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, today, that the company is voluntarily recalling certain RZR 900 and 1000 off-road vehicles manufactured since model year 2013 due to reports of thermal-related incidents, including fires. Detailed information about the recall is available at www.polaris.com/rzr-recall. Polaris conducted a thorough investigation to pinpoint the root causes and put forward a comprehensive solution to address them. "One of our foremost guiding principles is Safety and Ethics Always," said Scott W. Wine, Chairman and CEO, Polaris. "We know that the foundation of a good ride is a safe ride, and we have been proactive, aggressive and thorough in putting forth a plan to get our vehicles repaired and give us – and our customers – confidence in the safety of our RZR vehicles." All affected vehicle owners will be asked to contact a dealer to schedule a complimentary service appointment, which should take approximately one hour. Polaris is working quickly to source the necessary parts – and is allocating parts daily to dealers as they become available. Dealers will schedule appointments subject to parts availability. "We are working day and night to inform our customers and dealers and to obtain the parts needed for the repairs we identified in our comprehensive analysis," said Wine. "We apologize for the inconvenience to our customers as we work to ensure all the systemic thermal risks we identified are eliminated from our vehicles." Polaris has already begun implementation of its Corrective Action Plan and has made manufacturing updates in new-production vehicles. Polaris also plans to include a warning on new-production vehicles instructing riders not to carry fuel and other flammable liquids in their vehicles, and cautions against carrying flammable liquids in previously produced models.
  11. I'm doing a top end on a '98 Sportsman 500 and wondered if the cylinder is plated or sleeved from the factory? I have not removed the cylinder yet and was curious about my options on going oversized if needed. Any info would be appreciated. Polaris 2002 Polaris Sportsman 400 spedo

OK, Here is whats up. I just got an 02 Sportsman 400. The spedo does not work right. There is power to it and it partially works. The back light works. The lil screen at the bottom where the odometer and hr meter are works as well but does not advance in hrs or in miles. Also the needle to show what speed you are at does not move. It stays on zero. Im not sure where to look. I have had the assembly out and cleaned but it did not help. Also I have not be able to see where the sensor that tells the spedo how fast its going is located to see if there is something going on there. Im hoping the previous owner has disconnected it or something and its a simple fix. I have looked all over the net and not seen anyone else complaining about this. If anyone can help me move in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it.

I took it to the dealer who checked it out, called Polaris, and they tell us it is the Torque converter??? I am no expert but i sure don't recall hearing such a noise on any 4 wheeler. Has anyone else? Does this make sense??? Comments? ps The bike has only about 10 hours on it...

Polaris Polaris SM XP 1000 w/Tracks?

Im looking for a utility atv to put tracks on for use year around. I really like the sportsman xp 1000. However Im worried about the AWD system how that works with tracks? I've look for reviews and youtube videos on it. Any ideas?
  22. So I got this trail boss that has probably had 50-100 hours on it since any service at all has been done on it. Mainly my mom rides it so idk how long this has been happening but I pulled it out today and the clutch barely engages and under almost any decel it will grind some gears. What could this be? Belt going bad?
