  1. So to simplify this, I'm getting an XR100 like next weekend and I was looking for upgrade parts to make it competitive with a crf125, or just make it go faster 😏. Ive heard of many of the mods already but i have a very tight budget. Is there any other rejetting or other things I need to do after installing these? I'm thinking FMF header, atc200x carb, bbr120 kit, and modded air filter/ intake. (wanted a hotcam camshaft too but may be out of budget). I really only have about 350 to spend. I was also wondering if the cr80 throttle and cable are really needed for the atc200x catb. And the big question is if i buy these is there anything id have to buy to make them work or fit? nothing worse then brand new parts you cant use... also is this the 200x carb? http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/301891165034?chn=ps&dispItem=1
  2. hey guys. Recently bought my first dirtbike, a 2007 crf150f. ran great for the first week then all of a sudden i started having some issues with the shifter. i can shift between 1st and neutral okay but when you go into 2nd the shifter gets stuck in the up position, and doesn’t come back down like it should. therefore when you go th shift into 3rd the shifter is already up and can’t go up anymore so you don’t shift into 3rd and when you let off the clutch you get dumped back into 2nd. was kinda scary the first time since this is my first bike i’ve been riding not even a week when this happened. my first thought was to tighten the shifter but that didn’t do much. then i kinda just let the bike sit for a week or so since i was mad that it broke so soon. yesterday i decided to try to ride it again. i can go through all the gears still which i tested on the street but it was sketchy because i had to manually kick the shifter back down into the middle position every time i upshifted. and if i kicked it too far down it would downshift and id probably crash. anyone know what this could be???
  3. Hi, New member here! 🙂 I am interested in 2 bikes, the KTM 125 SX and 150 SX. I know the 150 SX is obviously got a bit more power but I am wondering what the exact differences are. Is it just the cylinder and piston or are there other changes? I am wondering because if there are big differences that means that parts made for the 125 SX won't fit the 150 SX. Most parts are for 125/250/300 bikes I assume. I am assuming that they are very much the same which means that if for example a company makes an exhaust for the 125 SX then it would fit on the 150 SX. I hope that is true. My other question is on the Power Valve system. Does KTM use that Power Valve with the green, yellow and red springs for the 125 SX and 150 SX? Or is it that other one one with that notch? Any help is glady appreciated! 🙂 Sorry I am also fairly dumb when it comes to bikes, although I used to ride a lot, as it has been a while. I have forgotten a lot about riding.
  4. Hey everybody, first post after years of lurking. Saturday I traded my johnboat for another bike. A very rough 2006 ttr125 with a 150 big bore kit. (no idea who made the kit). She starts first kick no matter what, idles and runs great until about 7/8 to full throttle where it proceeds to fall on its face until I let up. Bike has an "aftermarket" carb that i'm having trouble identifying. The only marking on it is an "M" cast on the side of the body. the insides look brand new but the jets dont have sizes on them. I can post pics as soon as I get off work but without knowing what size jets I have i'm not sure what kit to purchase. Starting to think a new mikuni would be the best course of action. Any Ideas or discussion would be great. Thanks a ton in advance. -Ricky
  5. Is it too picky to ask a dealer when you’re buying a brand new bike to give you one that’s fresh out of the crate instead of the showroom model? Asking since my buddy will be buying a brand new Yamaha YZ450F and is worried about buying the showroom model since the last showroom model he bought had a bent radiator, bent rim, and a cracked subframe and air box. Luckily he discovered all this before riding it and after getting home. The dealer did end up fixing and replacing all those but it took awhile to get all the parts. (Bike was a 2013 KTM 450 XC-F)
  6. I'm and intermediate rider who rides very aggressively and on hard, but fast-paced woods/cross-country/harescramble riding. Sometimes I'll do technical, really tight trails, log crossings, and hillclimbs, etc. and I also will ride motocross tracks every once in a while. I currently own a 2008 KTM 250 XC-F with a bigger rear sprocket, FMF exhaust, aftermarket piston, and I typically run high octane fuel. I won't be upgrading for quite a while but I am planning ahead trying to decide what to save up for and all that. I'm sure this forum will also help others in similar situations. I'd like something that can top out faster than my bike but something that can accelerate quickly and have more torque as well. The majority of my riding is very fast-paced woods with hard corners and lots of roots and steep hills as well, so I'd like something that can blow through corners and accelerate quickly. But, I also ride a lot of tight technical trails so I'd like something that's torquey and has explosive, yet controllable power and something I can take over big logs and rocks. I'm fine with a bike that likes to be revved a lot as that's what I do on my 250xcf now. I'm used to four strokes although I'll probably adjust to a two stroke very quickly as I ride constantly. I'm leaning towards a 250 XC or a 350 XC-F although I've heard lots about KTM's 125 and 150 2 strokes, the 450 and 500, the wide ratio "w" models of the cross country bikes, and their respective motocross models just because I know how explosive they are. I understand that this is a lot to ask out of one bike but I'm going to be adding a lot of aftermarket parts to whatever I end up getting if it doesn't already have any. Tell me all about these bikes if any of you guys have ridden them! I'm probably going KTM because I've heard nothing but good things about them but I will still consider any other brands as well. Tell me any aftermarket you had to do, improvements to be done or downfalls of each bike, and all their advantages and things they're better at than the other ones if you've ridden more than one of these. This is more of a harescramble/cross-country racing post, but since some of my races have parts of motocross tracks I'd like to hear how they do on the track. Also, money isn't too huge of a concern with me but I will definitely not be able to get a brand new bike. I will be racing so if it's bigger than a 250 then I'll have to be sure that it can compete with bigger bikes. Thanks, in advance!
  7. Hello everyone, I picked up a 2012 KTM 150 XC the other day. The bike ran briefly when I picked it up (the seller said the bike had been sitting for about 14 months and that the carb would most likely need some TLC). The owners manual does not give instructions on how to remove the carb. I tried to do the "loosen the intake clamps and rotate the carb" trick to gain access to the bottom of the carb, but on mine you can not do that. You can not rotate it enough because the throttle cable hits part of the chassis. Even so, I think it would be better to pull the entire carb off to tear it down and do a thorough cleaning. I tried googling repair manuals for the bike. I found a PDF which seems to have some instructions, though the quality of the PDF is not great so I can not see specific details in the pictures. It just says you need to remove the seat and gas tank to be able to pull the carb. Is this true? I saw a old write up from 2009 on a 150 and the guy said you had to do ALOT to pull the carb (You had to pull the rear shock, amongst other things). I have no experience with carbs at all, but I have watched a lot of videos. I think if I took my time I could disassemble it, clean, and put back together. My REAL question so far is how to get the darn thing off. Can anyone tell me if all you have to do is pull the gas tank and seat to get this thing off? I wanted to get some input before I start tearing this thing apart. P.S. I have done a lot of searches but there does not seem to be much info on the 150 XC. Thanks for your time.

So this bike I am fixing for a friend will not start it all started when I first diagnosed that he had no compression the intake valve was bent so we order both new valves and seats and replaced them no the bike has compression and we tested the electrical with a new battery and we are getting a spark the last thing I thought was the carburetor so I just checked and all the hoses are on correctly and I cleaned it out with carb cleaner and the jets aren’t clogged and it still won’t start any ideas?
  10. I’m looking for some bikes I’m very interested in getting started with motocross and racing and I’m looking at two bikes currently and need to decide fast! One is a 2001 Honda XR200, and the other one is a 2009 Honda CRF150R! I’m 16, 125lbs, and 5’6” I am interested in racing in the future and am trying to figure out which one will be better for me to start out on to work my way up and if I can race either of these bikes. I’m sorry if anything I say is wrong I’m new at this and appreciate any help I can get 🙂
  11. I bought a used 03 Honda crf150f. If I push down on the seat of the bike, the bike will compress down and bounce up a few times quickly. I don’t know a whole lot about dirt bikes but I’m guessing it shouldn’t be that bouncy. When I ride and I stand up on the bike, it’s bouncy as well if I try to push my feet up in the pegs and bounce up and down. So I’m guessing it’s either the shock is bad or the forks are blown? Maybe the suspension needs adjusted? I know some basic stuff but I don’t know much about dirtbike suspension. I know my description isn’t that great but what do you think the issue may be?
  12. Hi everyone. I'm considering buying a Ktm 150. I’m wondering what some have done to make a 150sx a woods/single track bike. The xc and xcws seem impossible to find (at least up here in Canada) the ktm 150sx is also a fair bit cheaper then an xc. I've heard a weighted fly wheel might not be the greatest idea on the 150s, so what have you done?

  14. Not an oil thread! Simple question. We just bought a 2021 TE 150 with 5 hours on it and it seems like its burning way too much oil. Excessive wet spooge bubbling at tailpipe and use of 2/3 of an oil reservoir in 2 tanks of gas. Also has a wicked 1/8th to 1/4 throttle bog. My 20 300 has none of these issues. It's been to the dealer and checked out but of course they say nothing is wrong and it just needs to be "cleared out" I rode it yesterday and put the hammer to it for 3.5 hours. Single track and WOT. Any input here would be greatly appreciated.

Hey so I’ve decided I want to move up from my crf150rb to a new 2 stroke and one problem I’ve had is deciding whether if I should get the ktm 150 or 125 and which is better for me I’ve listed my size and experience below and I’d love if you’d help me with my decision I’m 15 yrs old weight around 140 and 5’8 not much 2 stroke experience it will take time to get used to I’ve been riding for around 2.5 years now and I want a bike that’ll have good low end top end so I can learn and get used to the bike and I want to pick the best one for me either then sx125 or sx150 leave your opinions below thanks!

  17. I rebuilt a crf 150r that broke down. It locked up due to no radiator fluid and who knows what else. I bought it and rebuilt the piston, bearings, etc. basically the whole bike. The bike isn't running yet. I need the clutch hub and a few other things but the engine is on but the transmission shifts from 1-5 but I can't shift into neutral. I don't know the problem. Any ideas?
  18. hi all, i have a 2007 Honda crf150rb that has an unsolvable hanging idle. bike has full fmf exhaust (powerbomb header and q4 muffler with spark arrestor taken out. you can turn the idle screw up and it will sit there and idle great but as soon as you touch the throttle the idle will hang very high and wont come back down unless i tap the kill switch a couple times. I have replaced the vacuum plate seal and installed in correctly and it did absolutely nothing. carb has been cleaned about 4 times before that. Jets are 135 main, 48 pilot and the others are stock. The throttle cables are not binding up i have checked this. I have tried the fuel screw turned really in really lean and turned out really rich. it made little difference except making it almost impossible to start. The screw is currently set at the factory specified 2 turns out. I have set and tuned the throttle position sensor to exactly what it should be. I've checked all around the engine for air leaks and have found none. Other than these issues the bike starts first kick and runs great. I feel like I've tried everything there is to try. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Luke
  19. I recently bought a 2003 and tore the carb down just so I knew what it had for jetting. I found a 178 main, 48 pilot, and NOZG needle on 2nd clip from top. (Bike has totally stock exhaust and riding is about sea level). The 48 pilot caught my eye as I thought it should have been more like a 42 and was wondering if this is correct? Also what is the best needle to use and on what clip? Any help is appreciated, Thanks.
  20. I'm caught between a rock and a hard place. My 2010 KTM 250 XC won't stop peeing coolant out of the overflow tube. I've used 3 different radiator caps (two of the oem 1.8 bar caps and one CV4 2.0 bar) and it still continues to pee coolant as soon as the bike starts up. I just recently bought and installed brand new radiators [GPI on eBay for $88 (the seem fine just the welds are a bit crappy and you can see inside of the tubes where the metal from the welds drooped down but there are no blocks)] and silicone hoses (profactory hoses) thinking they were the problem since the old radiators were bent in like bananas. To my dismay that was apparently not the issue. I've had everything apart and looked at. Has brand new base gaskets, head gaskets, radiators, and radiator hoses. I've bled the radiators like the manual says and there are no bubbles like air leaking into the system or being in the system. The jetting is also perfect. The only thing I haven't changed out is the oem impeller in the water pump but it looks to be in great condition. Any ideas on how I can fix this problem before it gets worse? Also, has anyone else had this problem and figured out how to fix it? I ride it in mostly tight 0-10 mph trails and also some 10-20 mph trails.
  21. I have a 2006 Crf 150 f and when I push the starter button it only works sometimes, and then when I turn the key off and back on it will work but not constantly. What could the problem here be. Iv checked all grounds and connections look good. When it does turn over the bike runs fine and no weird sounds come from the starter so I don't think the problem has to do with the starter. If any one else has had this problem or might have a possible solution I would appreciate hearing from you, Thanks!
  22. Hey guys im in a pickle. So i little info first. I am 14 5'9'' 125lbs and have former trials experience. I have been riding dirt bikes since i was five and always loved it but rode timid Honda crfs until about 4 years ago when i bought a 250 trials bike and rode that up to this year were i sold it in hopes of getting my first 2 stroke enduro bike. I am currently riding a little crf150f just for the time being until i get a new bike. I ride mostly tight single track with some very large hill climes and an enduroX track. Soooo.... I have been looking at a ktm 150xcw for quite sometime but it was a few weeks ago when i was told to get a 200xcw around the 2012 era because it would have more grunt and would lift the front easier over large logs and concrete barriers. But i really dont know what to do. You see 200s are quite rare up here in Alberta Canada and if they do show up they are usually beat to crap which is why i have liked the 150 because we have lots here like this one https://www.kijiji.ca/v-dirt-bikes-motocross/edmonton/2017-ktm-xcw-for-sale/1474480403 remember its in Canadian dollars. So i guess what i would like to know is what would be better? Just to get something like this 150xcw or wait and see if i can find a decent 200xcw. Also what would work better for the type of riding i do? And what are some of the problems the 2017 era 150s have and what problems do the 200xcws have? Also power wise how would the 200xcw compare to the 150xcw? And would the 2017 150xcw have enough grunt and snap to do the type of riding i do? Any information would be highly appreciated.
  23. What are the differences between the 2017 & 2018 KTM 150xcw? Specifically the carburetor, what all exactly was done to the '18 to eradicate the issues common in the '17. If you have a '17: what did you do to improve/fix the jetting issue? Lastly I'm a short rider & I'm looking for ways to lower the bike without compromising the geometry. What would you guys recommend doing & how many inches would you say, safely, I could lower it?
  24. I weigh 130 lbs and I currently have a 2017 honda 450R. The bike is too heavy and a little too much power for me. I am stuck deciding between a ktm 150 sx or 250 sx. I ride a lot of desert, freeride, and a bit of track. Which bike should I get?
