I was wondering if there was a general FMF brand exhaust pipe (or other type of exhaust brand) for my 1983 Honda XR350, as the previous one is filled with old oil sludge buildup (the bike was burning oil heavily before i got it rebuilt and was leaking oil buildup out of the end of the pipe) sourcing a new one is a pain, so if there is a new pipe I can purchase, please let me know. As of now I cant find one for my bike from any brand. Thanks

I have a 83 Honda xl600r motorcycle that I have pulled all apart and am looking at the electrical replacing all the bad connections and bad wires (the guy I bought it from really messed it up) but I noticed there were a couple wires disconnected but it was very clear where they were supposed to go but I have a power regulator (part number sh557b-12 3.1) and the dark green wire has a bullet connector but no where to go. is anyone able to tell me where it should go? and would this be my problem with killing battery's?

I've tried for days to get this bike to achieve a stable idle. Even after a 5 minute warm-up it will only idle with the choke on. With choke off, it will die right away unless I keep tweaking the throttle. The closest I've gotten requires the idle screw to be turned almost all of the way in. I have tried various Pilot screw combinations from 2 turns out to about 3.5 turns out. In general I think it is running way to rich. I put an exhaust gas analyzer on it and the air to fuel ratio is around 11. When running around the neighborhood, I get significant back fires when I go off-throttle which would indicate an over rich situation. I got this bike from a remote family member and maybe they only rode it at low altitude. I'm just outside of Denver Colorado at about 5500 ft. I've avoided removing the carburetor to check the number on the main jet (stock is 138). Perhaps I need to go to a 132 or so. Is there any other suggestions or diagnostics I can do to troubleshoot? Was thinking of removing the air cleaner temporarily to see what a slightly leaner mixture would do. I did have the carburetor off the bike at one point when I was painting the frame and stuff. It looked remarkably clean. And I tried checking the timing but just got a face full of oil spray. Could never see the timing mark. I'm pretty frustrated. BTW it is a 1983 model with the Keihin PD28A carb.

I just bought a 1983 KX80E and found an new old stock piston for $30 but can’t find rings. I know Wiseco make rings for it that cost around $45, so I was wondering if I could pair the aftermarket rings with the oem piston. (Same size).

Picked up a partially disassembled '83 XR350R Was wondering if anyone had any insight to specific quirks of these bikes. I have a '85 XR600R so I am used to tuning the dual carbs already and messing with valve lash. Came with XRs Only Exhaust (not pictured) and I have 98% of the parts I need to reassemble it. I think it needs rewired. There is not a voltage regulator on it currently. Also I have some spare parts for 83-85 XR350R's that came with this bike that I will list in case anyone wants to buy em cheap.

Hi guys, I've got some electrical gremlins plaguing my existence with my 1983 xt250. I've pulled apart the wiring and I've noticed the wiring diagram in my Clymer manual is wrong A LOT. I even started remaking my own color one but its proving very difficult. Does anyone have the diagram from an original yamaha manual or something that is more accurate?? The model I'm working on is the xt250K. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks, Josh

I am thinking about selling my dual sport KTM 250 MXC 1983. I have no idea what a reasonable asking price would be in the condition it is in. It runs and drives great and has good compression. The bike works as it should. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi all I have recently started a rebuild on a 1983 Honda XR200R. It is my first rebuild so I am learning as I go. My question is about the clutch cover/right crankcase cover. Please see the photo. Right next to the kickstart there is damage and I am not sure of the purpose of the damaged area nor what it is supposed to look like. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Hello, New to the forum. I picked up a 1983 XL600R in fair condition - it has been running well until today the ignition cluster was literally smoking when I pulled into work. shortly after stopping the turn signals and horn stopped working as well. Im thinking short somewhere near where the smoke was but was also having stator problems at one point and wondering if maybe its sending way too much voltage through? Electronics are foreign to me, so please dumb it down if you have any suggestions. Thanks y'all.

so i purchased a 1983 sp250 suzuki, and it would die at idle randomly and die when taking off. I pulled the carb to clean it and i notice a post for the floats was broken... so i need a new carb. the stock carb is impossible to find. ive been told that a mikuni vm28 will work, but it looks like some modification is needed. ive found some carbs for the suzuki gn250 that look the same. so the question at hand is, are the gn250 and sp250 engines the same?

What FMF Q4 would fit on my 1983 Honda XR 200r. There is no option for my bike, but I am sure another bikes exhaust is the same diameter. If so, what model should I get? Any help would appreciated!

Hi all I'm looking for any help with assembling my transmission. Does anybody have pictures or step by step guide they can share with me? I have the manual but it doesn't seem to be helping. A couple questions that stand out: Should all the shift forks marking face to the left? When the gears are all assembled without the shift forks installed, should the gears all line up and spin freely? I've assembled and disassembled this a couple times now and every time I try to run it through the gear on the bench it doesn't shift all the way up or down or the shafts will spin and then bind up. I have the service manual but find it very vague in this area. Please, any help would be appreciated Thank-you

So I have a 1982 Honda xr200r that was running. Long story short, it was ran without oil and while riding, it went dead. Tore it down rebuilt it. With new OEM piston, rings, and cam. I've gotten it back in time. But here is where my problem is. The intake valve is not seating all the way and it's causing air to come back out of the intake. The cam lobes are down at TDC. Checked the valve/ tappet clearance. I've looked at prices for new valves. My wallet isn't my friend right now, but before I spend the money on new ones. I want to know if you can get valve shims to fit. Because there is not a push rod on these motors like a lawnmower I can't just use the same kind of valve cap type shim.. I don't know if that is the correct name for it but I'm sure you get the point. So the question is, do they make shims that work with the xr200r motors? Anyone know of another thing I've over looked? I feel like I've pulled a stupid and over looked something.
