  1. I am asking for help with my husband's bike. He will be in Mexico for work and I would love to completely redo his bike as a surprise when he comes home. I am hopeless on dirt bike knowledge though and really don't know where to start. The bike in question is a 1986 RM125 2-stroke that is in great driving condition. No problems except he wants to add a silencer since the neighbors get pissed when he starts it up. Basically, I just want to make it pretty and run like a mother &%$#@!er. We are talking new body, new shiny chrome parts, tires and rims. I'm open to any suggestions and feel free to dumb down the lingo; I have no clue what the hell most parts on this are called. I don't even know where to start and any and all help would be appreciated. Thanks!
  2. I’m new here. im doing a build on my 86 cr250 and I was wanting to shave the head for more compression. I was thinking, would it work just to put the head on the cylinder without the gasket and keep shaving it till it touches the piston, and then put the gasket on? What are your thoughts?

    1986 TT350 Brake Light

    Hello all, I'm the proud new owner of a very clean 1986 Yamaha TT350S. I've been going through the bike making sure everything is working. I cleaned the two carbs and made sure there was enough oil. It rides great and I'm excited to get it on the road soon! I have been having some issues with the lighting. The headlight bulb was blown out so I found another one on eBay. The taillight doesn't work and I've spent a stupid amount of time trying to figure out how to get it to work (seems simple but I can't get it to work!!). I replaced the bulb with a new 1157 12v bulb that I got at Oreillys. The bulb fits the assembly but doesn't work. I measured a couple volts off the blue and yellow wires that lead to the light. The ground seems good. Not sure how to check the switch next to the rear brake but it looked good inside to me. I'm at my wits end here with this, what should be, simple fix. Any tips or help would be much appreciated!

    1986 cr250 fork rebuild help.

    Hello, I'm in need of a bit of help with my 1986 cr250r forks I'm trying to rebuild. I've taken off the fork seals and the rings that go after them. I've unbolted the drain, the top spring cap, and the dampening rod bolt at the bottom. Can someone please tell me what else I am missing to take them all apart?
  5. Hey all So I picked up a 1985 Honda XL350R last week. Pretty fine bike all in all. When I was disassembling the fuel system to get the old gas out and clean the carb the wonderful carb insulator, manifold whatever you'd care to call it turned to dust. Did some research and found that there are none available. Nothing used or new so I figured I'd make one myself. Found grantiago's thread and figured I'd give it a try. Picked up 6 inches of aluminum tube as close to the carburator diameter as possible. Ordered some intake hoses to clamp it all together. So far I'm into this repair for $30. Cut the 6 inch length in half(ish) measured the carb angle to be about 20 degrees matched that by cutting 10 degrees off the end of each piece. Shortened them down to where I think the intake hoses will grab and leave enough room to get the carb back on the bike when the dust settles. Here's where it's at so far. Also this is by no means perfect. I whipped this rig up while I was at work for a quick fix. I wouldn't mind making a nicer version later on. To be continued when I find someone with a tig welder!

    1986 XR250R no spark

    Hi i'm new to the community and i'm having a lot of trouble with getting spark on my recently purchased 1986 xr250r. I've been trying to get spark for a while now I bought a new ignition coil and cdi box but nothing seems to make a difference. The problem is that when the CDI box is grounded to the frame or engine all of the volts go strait to ground, and nothing comes out of the CDI box to the ignition coil. When the ground is detached I get power through the ignition coil but not enough for spark. I've disconnected everything except the components used to get spark, no kill switch, no lights. The bike was converted to be road legal.   8. Hello all. Need a helping hand here.. I bought an older TT225 and am not about to spend almost $600 on a new carburetor for it. So I'm hoping someone can help me out with an idea of what (other than original carburetor) style, type and brand I should go with.. I'm also having a bit of trouble finding info on this bike. It's a 1986 Yamaha TT225. Thank you in advanced Charles
