  1. Hi All, I'm in the need of some guidance on a 1988 KTM LC4 EGS. I'm in Australia and this bike seems to be quite rare in this part of the world. I have been ravaging the web for info and have not done too badly. I have a manual and some articles and few other bits and pieces. The bike is a barn find and I don't know the last time it ran. Overall I think the bike is in good condition. The motor was not seized and the oil was drained before being parked. The oil that came out of it looked in good condition. How do I know the oil was good, if the oil was drained, you may be thinking. This model used the down tube of the frame as an oil cooler and it was full! Anyway, I have an issue where some help would be appreciated. This bike has a manual decompression lever and is left side kick. It has new oil and valve adjustment performed at TDC. I am finding this bike a real pain in the butt to kick. It is really, really, really, really hard to kick through the compression stroke. I'm 95kg and have long legs. I also own a 2004 KTM 525 EXC RFS 🤘 so I know how to kick. I suspect there is something not right but I can't think of what. The kick and piston stroke fine with the plug out as well as with the plug in, and the manual decompression cable engaged a little. When the decompression cable is not engaged I can get a few kicks in, until what feels like unbelievable compression. If I keep the weight on I slowly and eventually get through the stroke. I tried compression a test and got a reading of 65psi on about 2nd kick which make no sense but after that second kick I can't get another stroke out of it. A leak down test showed leaky intake valves and blow by into the crank case. I have dropped about 20mls of oil into the plug hole and going to let that soak overnight as it might loosen up the rings. I might also smack on the valves a bit in case there is some carbon or crud and see if they seat better and redo the valve clearance. Perhaps I'm just used to auto decompression and too much of a wimp 🤓 to start a magnificent 1988 KTM specimen! Just to be clear, I'm not trying to start the bike just yet. I'm testing for mechanical health and compression. I think 30mins of run time would sort this bike out but I don't think it would start in the current state. So any help on what would "gork" the compression, kicker or piston would be great. Thanks in advance. GunnyB

I have a 1988 Honda nx 125 that we got as a bike build project for my son and I however this bike dose not have a motor, and I haven’t been able to find that motor for this bike anywhere.. my question is if there is any other motor that would fit in this frame or if anyone knows where I can get the motor that this bike came with thank you for any and all help 🙏
  3. Hello everyone! As you can see, I am new here. I am having a nightmare of a time locating a Starter clutch assembly for a 1988 Suzuki LT300E Quadrunner that I am currently working on. I've tried numerous parts houses and from the best I can tell the part has been recently discontinued. I have had no luck finding a used assembly or an aftermarket replacement. My next option is to try and "rebuild" this assembly but I can't seem to find a part number for the one-way bearing. Does anyone happen to have the part number or a source to get this info? I am looking at other similar year Suzuki parts to try to cross reference it in hopes that one from another bike may fit. Any help would be greatly appreciated. So far I see a vast group of knowledge and mechanical wizards on this site, so maybe I will get lucky. Thanks, Skin
  4. Just swapped out my rear tire and noticed I do not have a rear spacer on the gear side of my tire. Been riding like this for almost 3 years...seems to have been ok so far BUT doing a ride this weekend. Kinda asking...kinda venting...kinda stuck but would be great to hear any similar stories or insights...even better if anyone knew someone with a Yamaha XT600 rear wheel spacer just let me know! 👍
  5. Where should I start with the main and low speed jets for the 1986 KDX 200 at 1500 foot elevation (486 meters for all the youngsters) in Saskatoon Saskatchewan.
  6. I have a 1998 ktm 125sx. I am completely stumped on this clutch. When I first got the bike, the clutch was weak. I bleed it and it was good for a little bit. Then it went out again. So I tried bleeding it again and nothing. Then I tried reverse bleeding it. Nothing. Then i replaced the o-ring on the slave piston. Nothing. Now this might sound crazy, but I put dye in the oil to find the leak. It seems like it’s now leaking from the line in from the clutch. I’m trying to flip this bike and am already into it more than it’s worth and don’t want to buy a braided clutch line. Does anyone know how to connect or seal this line at the connection. Here’s a picture of where I’m talking about. Thank you
  7. I have a 1988 YZ125 and I need to replace the front and rear brake lines. The bike has disc brakes with a front and rear cylinder. I can find the lines on the internet by delivery time is to long. I don’t know if there is a difference between a 1988 and 1999 brake line but the pictures look the same. I would like to go into a cycle shop and just by a break line. My question is, has the specs of the break line changed over the years? Can I buy a later year brake line that will fit my 1988 YZ125?
