  1. Let's see how them "1991" KX250's are doing!!!
  2. Hello, I'm having an issue putting my kicker assembly back together. A while ago I had the whole kick start apart and, when I put it together the the kicker would hit the peg every time I tried to start it. I was wondering if that is normal because it cracked my case and I had to weld it. My second question is if you have to rotate the return spring a whole 360° to set it? The marks that you have to line up have wore down and, the only mark left is on the ratchet.
  3. I have an opportunity to obtain a 1991 WMX 125 in a trade deal. Bike is in fairly good condition and runs/rides. I was hoping to get some more info on these types of bikes before I commit to the deal. What is the value? Are they reliable? etc. I already know parts are kind of hard to come by but would be a resto project mainly. I will post pictures when I get a chance.
  4. 1991 CR125R FMF - REV Pipe PC Factory Sound Silencer 1991 CR125shock or could use 2002 RM 250 shock 1993 Polaris Trailboss 250 chassis I wanted to see if the 125 had enough zing for the chassis, mind you there is probably an extra 50-60 lbs with fluid and extra frame now. Encouraging news, the engine did not want to stall starting off from a stop easier than one would suspect being a 125 and all: Testing chassis weight distribution.....it’s science. Why white? Well what.... 90’s made me do it
  5. Hey guys I am new to the forum but tried to search for this subject and didn't find much for a bike this old. I bought the bike recently and have pretty much everything rebuilt but I am having trouble sourcing the proper plastics. First question is will 96 plastics fit this bike? There is plenty of those kits all over the internet. Currently the only thing I can find online that is actually for a 91 time range is white plastics only and can only be bought piece by piece. When they are pieced together like that is it almost 350 bucks for all white plastics which isn't what I want. So if you know of a thread that can show me how to put 96 or newer plastics on or if they bolt up on their own please let me know. Or if you have better ideas for what to do for plastics let me know! Thanks.
  6. Hello, I have an xr250R and need to replace to front braking system in its entirety. Im UK based and im finding it hard to get hold of what I need. Is anyone able to point me in the right direction?
  7. Hi everyone. I recently bought an XLR 250 (1991). The rear shock has started to leak and i need to either get a kit to refurbish it or purchase a new one. From what i can make out the shock is a KYB model KZ9-710. Can anyone help put me in the right direction. Thanks in advance
  8. So I have this 1991 kx125 and I got it with a broken clutch lever I got a new one and the cable seems to not be long enough to get to the lever I need like 2-3 more inches are there any aftermarket ones that are a little longer
  9. Looking to buy a good condition exhaust for my 1990-1991 KX125, either a Pro Circuit works pipe, or OEM. Also if you have any lightly used parts that you are interested in selling, let me know! Thanks!
  10. Does anyone know if a 1990 kx250 shift shaft will fit on a 1991 kx 125 my 125 needs one and I have a extra 250 one and wanted to know if it would fit
  11. Hey guys, I am really needing some good advice here from anybody who has ever owned or rebuilt classic Yamaha 2 strokes (1989 - 1994). I live in South Africa, and bought a little farm thumper while on holiday this past weekend. It was advertised as a DT175 which is a bike that is easy to get parts for down here. It has been cosmetically customized and looks pretty darn cool... and lets face it, all the old classic Yamaha 2T engines look the same at a glance! So I genuinely thought it was a naked DT. The bike had no papers, and was used purely for the farmer to putt around on his farm. The only things needing attention was the stator cover which had snapped in half - this was visibly noticeable, and a little leak from a badly resealed gasket (both generally easy and cheap to fix here). The bike was still running and idling fine, started first kick, and I had a little ride around the farm before loading the bike up onto my pickup and heading off, thinking I could fix this thing up nicely in no time for next to nothing, and have what we call down in SA "a nuwe speelgoed" (A new plaything) for the weekends when I am not riding my beloved and reliable DRZ400SM. SO, I get home and decide to contact our local Yamaha branch, out of interest, to find out the history of the bike before I start fiddling (Don't ask me why I did not do this all before I bought the bike - It was a spur of the moment purchase, and was sold to me for dirt cheap!). I send off the VIN and engine number. Comes back, and this little freakin' turd turns out to be a 1989 TDR180!! WHAT. But now I am stuck as we do not really have TDR's down here - and I have never even seen one myself. Long story short - What alternative could I use as a stator cover? Do any other old Yamaha 2T model stator covers fit the TDR or share similar engine parts? Ordering from Ebay is so expensive thanks to my country being in junk status due to a junk president. So the shipping costs more than the actual item does, and our customs is a joke too. Yamaha has also advised me that this stator cover has been discontinued. I have put up local ads looking for parts, contacted FB 2T groups, and local shops. Nothing for TDR's has come back yet. Any advice or sharing of experience is welcome! 🙂
  12. I am wondering, I was told there was a trick to splitting the cases on this bike. Someone very experienced in motorcycle mechanics told me that the bike had to be in 3rd gear to be able to pull them apart. Does anyone have any information on this subject? 1991 and 1/2 Beta Zero 250 Jordie tarris signature edition.
  13. I have a 1991 kx125 and I'm tryin to put a rear street tire on it. the size is 100/90×19 and I can't find a rear tire that is 100/90×19 only front tires. Also can front tire fit on rear or is there a different tire size that will still fit my current 19in rim all help is appreciated
  14. Got a 91 kx125 I picked up recently and lysed there was a leak coming from one of the mounting bolts and one of the shrouds had two stuck bolts so I used the drill method and it worked but the hole was about the size of a penny so I need a new tank but I can only find 93 ones will they fit?
  15. I have been getting a 1991 XR250L going again and recently put a rebuilt Carb from a 250R onto the bike. As I broke the plastic on the choke cam/attachment on the 250L carb and could not find a replacement. I put the new carb on, it would not idle. Tore it down and found out the diaphragm spring had been put on the wrong side of the diaphragm. Everything else was clean and looked good. Now I have it running, but it has a misfire at idle, sometimes enough to kill it and has to be restarted. I have included a link to a video so you can hear what it sounds like when it misfires, kind of a chuff and it almost dies. Also the idle seems to be a bit erratic it will speed up at times. Then return to normal. I had the idle jet out and it seems ok, was clear/clean. I have a list of things to look at but perhaps some experience could assist in a direction of what to prioritize Valve Adjustment (Should check this anyways) Air/fuel mixture off Idle jet too small Weak spark (Tested coil and it checked out as per service manual), not sure hot to confirm if the spark is in fact "weak" Spark plug. I have the old carb, I could wire the choke open and swap it back in see if it makes a difference.(Old carb was jetted larger than factory) Few things that were done in the past years: Spark plug resistor removed, exhaust baffle removed(Replaced with spark arrestor) , decomp lever removed, K&M air filter, snorkus removed. Recently: installed a XR250R carb, and last night I drained all the fuel and put fresh 94 octane, ethanol free in the tank. Its currently running without the side cover on the airbox. Video of it running:
  16. Alright, so I got this bike a year ago and put a lot of work into both the engine and body. As of recent my carb was leaking a little bit of gas out of the overflow whenever I would ride it hard. Idk if it was the floats but, I bent the tab on them to make them sit a little higher up. I think it slowed down the gas down to a few small drops but, I really haven't rode it far to tell. Any adivse on the carb would be highly appreciated. Also I a was wondering how to really tell if I'm running it lean or rich without special equipment. Also a few side notes; I installed new V-Force reeds, K&N air filter, and had the cylinder bored out a little because of a scratch. I also cleaned the carburetor a few times now.
