  1. Hello all, Im in a bit of a snafoo. I’m in the middle of revalving my forks on my 93 rm250 (45mm showas) and I’ve come to realize that I am missing the needle valve from one of the forks. I’m looking all over for a replacement, but I can’t find anything. Does anybody have an idea of where I can find this part? It’s discontinued so im doubtful that a new part is available anymore. mfg # 51192-43D00 damper rod needle ive included some pictures to help anyone understand which part I am looking for. It is part #14 on the diagram.
  2. Hi all! I've got an issue, one of many when it comes to bikes. I searched throughout all the pages I could find pertaining to my situation and couldn't find very much useful information. So the issue is, the bike has no electric start.... until it's hot enough to melt steel that is. It will bump start first time every time. But I can sit and crank the starter over for ever and it'll never start until the charger is bumped up past 200 amps. Not good. The story so far, Got the bike for 1k cash. Guy said it has no spark and no second gear. This particular guy also only ever rode newer crotch rockets. Brought it home pulled the choke, attached battery charger and she fired right up. Ran like absolute crap, but oh well I figure it's an older bike with only 10k miles so it probably needs a good carb cleaning. Took the carb apart and didn't know I messed something up until way later(didn't tighten down main jet). Oh well she runs well enough if I can get her started. Moved from California to Oklahoma. Eventually found the money to fix 2nd gear, and as I am a certified Honda small engine technician apprentice I figured it would be no big deal. Completely tore down engine to it's roots replaced 2nd, and 5th gear(because 5th gear connects to 2nd on the countershaft) dogs were worn pretty badly on both. The engine looked quite good compared to most others I've seen. Put the engine back together as per the service manual. Did all the right steps including loosening the banjo bolts to test for proper oil pressure. I even tore apart the electric starter to clean the contacts and the brushes and replace the dielectric grease. Adjusted the valves as per the service manual, replaced all gaskets, o-rings, seals, and oil filter. Finally after about a month of waiting on parts and reassembly I get to start her, only she doesn't. Electric start is still giving me the same issues I've always had. So I replaced the Ignition coil, CDI box, and put a new battery in, plus the starter motor rebuild. Nothing. Still cranks forever. I said what the heck and tried to push it slightly down hill and bump start it, and voila... fired right up! Once she gets hot enough and the stator charges the battery enough it'll electric start... sometimes. So I looked towards ignition, used a tool called ignition mate. Pretty awesome tool if you can afford it. Well while cranking the ignition mate reads the spark plug is getting 1-4kw of "spark" every cycle, well it only fires after getting up past 5kw sometimes 6-8kw. And sometimes the ignition would be intermittent as in it wouldn't give any spark at all. I cycle the ignition and it seems to soft reset the bike as it will usually give it back spark. I tested this with the new and old CDI box, the old one would never spark. Ever. So I threw it in the trash. A month later I stil l can't figure it out. Is there something I'm missing? TL;DR Bike won't start using electric start only bump start before and after engine rebuild Electric start works after pushing the starter past about 200 cold cranking amps or when hot.
  3. Does anyone know the correct bolt size for the upper oil drain on a 93 dr 350s? I’ve tried a couple different sizes from parts stores and none seem to want to thread in. I’m not sure if the frame is stripped or the po changed the threads from what they were originally. Or I just keep purchasing the wrong bolt. This is such a simple thing that’s taking up a lot of mental space.
  4. I have a 1993 xr250 that I bored out to a 280. Stock bottom end. Stock carb. Went up 2 sizes up on each jet per thumper racing instruction. After timing the top end, adjusting valves, and installing the carb and air cleaner I have issues getting it to even idle. It will run and I'm able to ride it around the block but it acts like it's starving for fuel and will die, then it won't start back up. Any help would be appreciated.
  5. So I bought a 1993 yz125 a couple of months ago and I got it running but it was smoking insanely bad and really boggy it would get to powerband and run hard but it would take a little bit to get to it as well as I noticed a lot of spooge coming out of the exhaust so I assumed that the right crank seal was bad I ended up tearing it down and replacing it and now the bike smokes far less but still kind of seems to me like it’s smoking too much it also runs a bit better reaching power alot quicker but it’s still very boggy on the low end and doesnt want to idle any help would be greatly appreciated
  6. Im looking where to find info on what size kick levers fit my bike.i have a 92 im restoring to being rideable and i can't find parts anywhere very easy i replaced all the coils re wired the mess i was given got it running and the kick lever clapped out on me
  7. So Iv got a 1993 cr 125. I tore down the engine for a top end and discovered someone left out the power valves. How many years did they make the engine the same? Can I put a newer cylinder back on this bike?
  8. Hello posting again about my 93 Kawasaki kx250 After disasembling the frame and suspension components to replace them, I was left with both outer races of the swingarm bearings still stuck in the swingarm. All the rest of the pieces of the bearing fell out when i pulled out the long bolt that held it to the frame. The issue is i cant seem to seperate the bearing races from the swingarm. Ive tried heat, pounding it out, using a impact socket of very similar diameter as the races to pound out and nothing has worked. Any suggestions?
  9. 1991 CR125R FMF - REV Pipe PC Factory Sound Silencer 1991 CR125shock or could use 2002 RM 250 shock 1993 Polaris Trailboss 250 chassis I wanted to see if the 125 had enough zing for the chassis, mind you there is probably an extra 50-60 lbs with fluid and extra frame now. Encouraging news, the engine did not want to stall starting off from a stop easier than one would suspect being a 125 and all: Testing chassis weight distribution.....it’s science. Why white? Well what.... 90’s made me do it
  10. Hello, I am rebuilding a 1993 Kawasaki KX250 and have run into an issue after recieving a different year case than what I was expecting (1993). I believe the case I received is an 89? But Im not to sure. The case I recieved doesnt fit with the ignition system meant for a 93, so i couldnt use it even if i wanted to. After searching on ebay and other parts sites I cant find any 93 left engine cases, and the only one ive found is attached to a whole bottom end and is nearly 500$. Does anyone know if i can slide a 92 case on my bike? Or a 94? Just curious to see if thats even an option. Thanks, Kaelan
  11. Hi I was looking at a clean 10,000 mile 1993 KLX 650. the're selling it for 1800, and I was wondering what the availability of parts to keep this bike running as a daily commuter, and adventure tourer are like in 2018. Should I buy? I don't care how cool it is, I just want something that I can keep running for a while, and fix whatever issues may arise. Any help would be appreciated Thanks!
  12. I've been fixing up a 1993 CR250, but the fork slide tubes have some damage and I can't find replacements. I found some 1993 CR125 forks that seem like they could be almost the same. Both 43mm Showas. Does anyone know if I could swap them in without having to change anything else? First bike, so any help is greatly appreciated 🙏
  13. Help! I recently replaced the battery after this winter and went for a ride, got stuck in a rut, tipped the bike and broke the clutch lever and partially broke the cable But before this, the bike wouldn't start in Neutral unless the clutch was pulled in and the choke was all the way out. After the crash I was able push start the bike and limp it home. Replaced the lever and cable and now it will not start at all. In nuetral with or without the clutch pulled in. The only way to start it is to push start. any ideas here?
  14. Hi so my 1993, KTM 300 sx is currently out of commission and not sure what to do, I was racing one of my buddies and when I went into 5th gear I lots my gear and the bike started to bog out, I was not able to find another gear to get it in so it died. Now when I put it in gear I’m able to roll the bike still but can hear a weird clunking sound and the bike tire is trying to grab but can’t
  15. Hey guys, I am really needing some good advice here from anybody who has ever owned or rebuilt classic Yamaha 2 strokes (1989 - 1994). I live in South Africa, and bought a little farm thumper while on holiday this past weekend. It was advertised as a DT175 which is a bike that is easy to get parts for down here. It has been cosmetically customized and looks pretty darn cool... and lets face it, all the old classic Yamaha 2T engines look the same at a glance! So I genuinely thought it was a naked DT. The bike had no papers, and was used purely for the farmer to putt around on his farm. The only things needing attention was the stator cover which had snapped in half - this was visibly noticeable, and a little leak from a badly resealed gasket (both generally easy and cheap to fix here). The bike was still running and idling fine, started first kick, and I had a little ride around the farm before loading the bike up onto my pickup and heading off, thinking I could fix this thing up nicely in no time for next to nothing, and have what we call down in SA "a nuwe speelgoed" (A new plaything) for the weekends when I am not riding my beloved and reliable DRZ400SM. SO, I get home and decide to contact our local Yamaha branch, out of interest, to find out the history of the bike before I start fiddling (Don't ask me why I did not do this all before I bought the bike - It was a spur of the moment purchase, and was sold to me for dirt cheap!). I send off the VIN and engine number. Comes back, and this little freakin' turd turns out to be a 1989 TDR180!! WHAT. But now I am stuck as we do not really have TDR's down here - and I have never even seen one myself. Long story short - What alternative could I use as a stator cover? Do any other old Yamaha 2T model stator covers fit the TDR or share similar engine parts? Ordering from Ebay is so expensive thanks to my country being in junk status due to a junk president. So the shipping costs more than the actual item does, and our customs is a joke too. Yamaha has also advised me that this stator cover has been discontinued. I have put up local ads looking for parts, contacted FB 2T groups, and local shops. Nothing for TDR's has come back yet. Any advice or sharing of experience is welcome! 🙂
  16. Where can i get a silencer for a 1993-1995 Rm125. I know they have a different style of expansion chamber. I cant seem to find one that has been discontinued. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks👍
  17. Got a 91 kx125 I picked up recently and lysed there was a leak coming from one of the mounting bolts and one of the shrouds had two stuck bolts so I used the drill method and it worked but the hole was about the size of a penny so I need a new tank but I can only find 93 ones will they fit?
