  1. My son took the clutch cover off his YZ125 for some reason, then put it back on, went to track and rode for about 10 minutes and it wasn't right, clutch would not release all the way. Went home and realized had the push lever in the wrong position, it was too tight and not releasing. We then also realized he did not have transmission oil in it either . So he rode for about 10 minutes with no oil and clutch partially in....OMG!!! Fixed the lever position, put 650 ml of oil in it, started it up, clutch seemed to be good, but then we noticed oil coming out of the breather tube that is right below the reeds, seemed to be coming out at a pretty good amount. Let it idle for a bit, ran it up and down the street, seemed to run well, put back over towel, and continued to come out while idling. Amount that was coming out would fluctuate, sometimes not much, then during a higher idle, it would come out a bit more. What should my concern level be, never noticed oil coming out of this before, and don't really like the color either. Thanks in advance for the help! Pics attached to help.
  2. Have you guys seen any video or articles on building a Suzuki DR into a better or great woods bike? I am looking for ideas. new to the forum so excuse me if the is a repeated question-thread pw
  3. So I am currently working on a 1997 CR125 and plan to make a full race build on it. But I have been noticing that there are not very many aftermarket parts the biggest being the plastics and graphics for it due to the frame, tank, sub frame, etc. I was wondering if its possible to put that engine into a CR125 frame anywhere from 98-07 and how hard that would be to do. I have a welder but I am not confident enough to weld new motor mounts. If you guys could help me out with this that would be great.
  4. I bought this bike 8 months ago and it ran like a champ since I got it. The guy I bought it off of had the bottom end completely rebuild right before I bought it off of him, he had receipts showing the bottom end was only done 2 weeks before I bought the bike. Well I went out riding yesterday and in the middle of hitting a hillclimb it locked up and shut off on me. I was reading that wiseco makes garbage crankshafts but I wasn't sure if it was just because it was a wiseco crank is why it failed or if I was doing something wrong. The synthetic looking stuff they put on the crankshaft melted and seized my connecting rod. It's a 1999 KX250
  5. I just bought a 1999 kx 125 and wanted to inspect the top end so i took off the pipe and looked through the exhaust port and saw the images below, I am new to this but i think that that is blow by meaning i could use a new top end. What do you guys think that I should do, if anything?
  6. How do I clean out the inside of a 1999 yz125 expansion chamber? It has carbon build up and oil in it due to a bad crank seal. I don't want to burn it out because it will most likely bring the fire department are there any other ways to clean out the inside of the exhaust without using fire?
  7. Hi, this is my first post so I might I have listed this post wrong but anyway’s, like the title says my 1999 RM125’s engine is making weird sounds, it sounds a little like piston slap. Now I’m not positive on this but I think there is something going on inside either the top or bottom end. Can someone tell me if this is normal, or there is something wrong. Just a note I have not done any engine work to it ever since I bought it in 2017 and the most recent work I have done to it is normal maintenance like change the o rings on the pipe where it goes into the header of the cylinder and new pipe springs, repacked the silencer (which was in desperate need of repacking), new air filter, and new front brake lever. I’ve noticed the sound for a while now and I have decided to post this before it was to late Also the bike may sound a little weird because I think I need to mess with the carburetor a bit, Also the bike isn’t jetted to be in colder weather, You can here it a little better near the end of the video sorry for the gorilla style writing I’m kinda rushing this post
  8. Hello my name is Stone and I just bought a 97 CR 250 with no title but clean vin I also have a 99 CR 250 frame with a clean title so I could ride anywhere I want in Arizona. What I need to know is are the frames interchangeable especially the sub frame and linkage because the placements look very funky and I want to know before I do anything thank you 🙏
  9. I am needing the crankshaft collar that goes on the primary drive of the crank. Yamaha has discontinued this part. 90387-2513A-00 COLLAR The previous owner put an 01 crank in my 2000 bike....not knowing I ordered the crank for a 2000 but am missing the parts to put it together. Crank is all installed already. Does anyone have this part kicking around!!!! THANKS!
  10. I have a 1999 Suzuki RM125. On the left side of the cylinder there is a knob. The knob is to adjust the spring tension of the exhaust valve/power valve. I know how to tighten/loosen the spring tension, but I don't know what the tension should be or how many turns it should be at, or where in the rev band it should open up. There is a little indicator with an arrow pointing clockwise, but again, I don't know how many turns to start at and where it should point, etc. Can you guys help me out? Thanks!
  11. Hey guys I'm new here and desperate. I'm struggling with my brother's 1999 rm250. Short version of the story. Bike was off to a guy for jetting as a favor from a friend and for some reason they messed with the wiring and now the bike is an overweight paperweight. First thing i would love to know is the rectifier and the condenser are connected. But from the rectifier it isn't connected to anything. Should it be connected to the cdi? I have a rmx but wiring is worlds apart. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
  12. Hi All Got a Kx125 1999 model. I am not a very good mechanic, but have done basic maintenance on bikes. The clutch was slipping and I realised tge plates are worn. I bought a new hub, plates, springs and pressure plates and fitted them to the bike. After everything is in the clutch basket does not move at all when operating the cable. Total free play on the lever, once I pull it it does not go back. Have found a lot of help here first time posting Thanks all
  13. Adjusted the power valve on my 99 cr250 and not the power valve won't move at all I took the pin out of the top to clean the linkage up a little bit could the drive shaft have disconnected from the pinion shaft?
  14. Hi everyone! I'm the original owner, it's been a good 20 years just about and this bike has been flawless, but alas, i'm at a loss Doing a routine oil change, i start the bike up, ride it around 1st gear a bit, make sure the engine is warm, park it in neutral, shut her down. I change the oil, start her up and she wont click into 1st or 2nd. No matter what, rocking, pulling up hard, bike on/off, its definitely stuck in neutral, the shift lever moves fine, but no "clicking". So, I popped the clutch cover, things look fine, but definitely noticed some deep notching on the basket (replacing obviously). I get the basket off, the gearing seems fine, things move as i think they should, but now while pulling up on the shifter, i hear "clicks" like it's going into gear. The problem is i dont know enough about what i should be looking at and trying? So even though it clicks, and i move it up say into what i think is 4th gear... if i spin the rear tire, it still spins freely like it's in neutral, is that supposed to be the case or should it be impossible to spin the rear tire? Secondly, when starring at the case, i have 2 gears to the left, the main shaft in the middle, below that, the shifting mechanisms, and to the right i believe the pump gear. Again, it appears things are moving ok, but i dont know what i should be testing or looking for that's not normal. Hope i was detailed enough, i can send some photos if helpful. I called the dealership i bought it from, they asked me if things looked align? Thanks, Artie
  15. Hey guys - I'm fixing up an old 1999 yz250, I'm wondering if expansion chambers from newer models (stock or aftermarket) will fit? and if so - which years are compatible. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
  16. Hello all, I just recently bought a 1999 Husqvarna WR250, It has some problem with the clutch, so its got a new clutch cable which i have no issues with, but when I start the bike and put it into 1st it will stall unless im giving it some gas, as soon as I am riding and stop giving it gas even with clutch pulled in it will die unless im in 'N', and sometimes not every time but pretty often when i go into first and give it some gas again with the clutch lever pulled in I will roll forward. So im pretty new to dirt bikes and such, but i've read up online and some people it say a plate in the clutch area can get chewed up and it won't disengage properly, some say i need a new clutch, or an adjustment somewhere else, so finally my questions -Is there an adjustment not related to the clutch cable that i can try to make? -parts for my bike seem few and far between is there a bike out there that has the same clutch so if i need new plates and such i can get them from another bike? Seriously thanks for any help, looking forward to fixing this and really enjoying some dirt biking!! Thanks.
  17. Can someone please help me out and tell me how hard it is or if it's possible to get the polisport restyle kit they made for the 02 and up models to fit on a 99 cr125
  18. I recently picked up a 2002 yz426f for cheap however it’s missing all of the exterior oil lines... are the oil lines all compatible on this bike from 1998 to 2004?
  19. The PJ carb is mediocre and has a mind of its own. It has some funky tendencies and only runs decent 1/2 throttle or more. #1 problem being the idle speed is hooked to the choke circuit (It will idle fine for 5 minutes, then slowly bog down), I have tried to go richer one pilot jet size, but then becomes too rich to kick-off. So, is it possible to swap from a 34mm keihin pj to a keihin 38mm PWK airstriker? I've read a bunch about 2000+ cr125's making the swap, but what are the limitations and challenges with the 99 PWK airstriker swap? Thanks, Chad

  21. Hi there, I have a 1999 yz250 rear shock that is completely stuffed. Rebuilding it is not an option. What other years rear shocks are compatible with it? And are other models compatible such as the yzf 250 and 450? Cheers.
  22. Hi All, Sharing my experience. 1999 YZ250 conversion to SSS forks from 2009 YZ250f. Parts I used from 2009 yz 250f: - Forks and fork guards - Both triple clamps and handlebar mounts - Steering Stem - Front wheel, axle and spacers (I tried the 99 wheel with 2009 spacers and 2009 caliper, but didn't line up). The hubs are different, which results in the caliper in a different spot - Front brake caliper, line and lever assembly. Parts I kept from the 1999 yz 250: - Handlebars - Clutch lever assembly - Stop button New Parts purchased: - Steering head bearings Modifications required: - Steering Stop - Number plate + made a bracket Would probably have been easier to use the 2009 number plate, but I didn't have it, didn't want to spend money, and didn't want to have to adjust decals if I order any (ie. I can just order 99 model ones now). Photos attached. If it keeps the same numbering that I have them named as... 1,2 - Existing number plate mounts 3 - An example of plastic I found with similar colour 4 - The symbol of the type of plastic you need (HDPE) 5,6,7 - Cut out plastic ready to weld 8 - Special tool from wife's toolbox. Paint onto the tip of the mounts on triple clamp, then push the plastic onto it, then wipe clean from triple clamps 9 - Welded and showing the use of the special tool - it leaves paint where to drill 10 - Mounted 11 - Showing holes compare to standard mounts 12 - Bracket for number plate. L bracket, drilled, nut welded and painted. Note plastic hose on sides to protect clutch and stop button cables. They will rub. May need to re-assess. 13,14 - Bracket mounted 15 - Completed number plate mounted. Side note - Green plate was apparently the standard in Australia for 250 in 1999. Seems that was not the case for AMA. 16,17,18 - Steering Stop extension - Used mild steel with MIG weld. Done to stop handlebars jumping over stock stop and breaking CDI.
  23. I have a 1999 cr250r. I can't seem to find a handbook for that year to download anywhere. I'm trying to find out what the proper stock setting for the carburetor. I live at 1500 feet and the temperature is usually around 90-100.
  24. Hi, I might be dumb, but I have a 99 xr80 that needs a lift now I've heard of the Aussie lift but I don't have access to a welder would extending the rear swingarm linkage do the job? Any help would be appreciated, thanks!
  25. hey guys, i am new to bikes and have been searching in the shadows but would like to become a member of the community. right now i have a cr125, both 1993 and 1999. they both are in bad shape and to know nothing about bikes, i know, i am in over my head but what better way to learn. the 1993 has all parts to get it running but im pretty sure when i put it back together i didnt get something right w the carb. i say that cause i see tube like hoses(pink in color) connected to a lot of you guys carbs and only thing connected to my carb is the tank and cord that goes to the clutch lever(i think thats where that cord goes) the 1999 is only a shell and suspension . no motor, carb, nothing! just mane/sub frame, suspension, arm, tires, tank, radiator, plastics. i got the 1993 for $300, and the 1999 for $100 so i dont mind putting money in it. i just need guidance on the technical stuff. i dont even know how to mix gas. a 4stroke may b better for me but hey.... long story longer, will my 93 motor fit in my 99? i read 99 motors are popular in the shifter community so they may b hard to come by. ebay mainly sells you cases separately and thats sketchy on matching up since idk wat im doing really. what motors will fit in easiest? i dont plan on racing, just learning moreso. i rode when i was in my teens(now 31) so i know the basics. just bought a house with a large wooded area behind my house and figured wth. I'll pose pics if u guys need. BTW- i live in Maryland so if anyone wanna stop pass and help me out....lol THANKS!
