  1. I have a chance to buy a 2002 ktm 250 sx for $2000 and was wondering if this would be a good woods bike?
  2. Hi guys, I have tried EVERYTHING to cure the bog on my 2002 yz250f. At this point, im either ready to sell the bike, or i am willing to get a new carburetor that doesn't suck horribly. I know this year was notorious for the bog issues. My question- Is there a newer or better aftermarket version of a carb that will fit the 2002 YZ250F? It would he my last ditch effort before abandoning the bike. Has anyone tried this as a solution, and what were your results? Thanks all!
  3. 2002 cr250 with 60 hours on piston. This is a re sleaved cylinder that got done 60 hours ago. Compression is the same 190psi since 0 hours. Rings do not have any grooves. The exhaust bridge is shiney in these 2 spots but can not catch my nail on it. I am pretty sure powerseal who did the nikasil job added a relief in the bridge will know for sure tomorrow when I've got ahold of them. I think it should be fine to run with a new piston for this desert season but would like some opnions.

    2002 400 Exc height

    Hello and new to dirt riding. I just bought a used 2002 400 exc-r and as a newb I find the bike extremely high for me. Had the sag adjusted and that helped but damn I can barely put my feet flat and on the trails it makes it feel so off balance because my feet don't touch and then I loose my balance and of course fall over. 4 times I dropped her yesterday in the woods... ha.. the suspension is plush but i feel too high any tips on maybe lowering it or better balancing tips?   5. So I am currently working on a 1997 CR125 and plan to make a full race build on it. But I have been noticing that there are not very many aftermarket parts the biggest being the plastics and graphics for it due to the frame,tank,sub frame, etc. I was wondering if its possible to put that engine into a CR125 frame anywhere from 98-07 and how hard that would be to do. I have a welder but I am not confident enough to weld new motor mounts. If you guys could help me out with this that would be great.

    2002 crf450r lighting

    I have a 2002 crf450r that I want to put a led light bar infront of the handle bars. I want to wire it without having to install a battery. If I buy the trailtech stator and the trailtech regulator rectifier and an on/off switch will it work without a battery? Every where I read it says you have to install a battery, is this true? I know the led has to run on DC power and the stator puts out AC power so the rectifier will fix that. Anyone who has suggestions or has done this before I would appreciate the info.

    2002 RM125 Clutch Issue

    I have a RM125 and it has had consistent clutch issues since I purchased it. It seemed like the cable was worn. You couldn't adjust it properly where the lever had a slight looseness and a slight two finger pull engaged the clutch. You had to pull the lever all the way to the bar. I replaced the clutch cable without much improvement. I just installed a new cable(in case the previous new cable was bad) and new plates. Still the same problem. I am about the tear into the engine and take the basket off looking for some type of damage. Maybe start replacing components if I can't find some sort of witness mark. Any suggestions before I spend more money would be very helpful.

    2002 RM125 rebuild problems

    I bought a 2002 RM125 that needed the bottom and top end of the engine rebuilt because a a small conrod bearing failure. So I put in a new wiseco bottom and top end in with new crank bearings/seals, and all new gaskets. The cylinder needed resleeved so I sent it out to have that done also. It also has a new cylinder head. After rebuilding everything and getting it back together in the bike, I cleaned the carb and checked the float height, and everything looks good. I did not take the powervalve out and clean them; I only checked to see if they were operational and they seemed to operate fine. Everything looked fine. The bike fired up in 2-3 kicks. But it does not run the way it should. It smokes very excessively, and it cant rev up all the way how it should. There's not bogging at all, it just sounds like it has incomplete combustion. It sounds as if there is incomplete exhaust scavenging; it just doesn't sound crisp like how a 2 stroke should. I pulled the plug and there was a lot of oil spooge on the plug. Any comments and suggestions are appreciated.
  9. I just bought a 2002 drz400s with 10,000 miles on it. When I picked it up I only took a quick spin around a parking lot , not enough to notice any of the things I notice now. It had been sitting a while before I bought it (I bought it from a shop) so before the owner would sell it to me he took the carb all apart and cleaned it out. When I got it home, I put some new fuel in it and fired it up, it seemed like the idle adjustment was quite high. I backed that down a bit and it seemed to run ok for a little while. (bike hasn't even been running 30 minutes total since I bought it last week) now I notice the beginning throttle delivery seems very jerky and it seems like the bike is struggling early on and then gets better higher in the RPMs. I mistakenly left the petcock on prime the night I brought it home and had to change my oil today because I could smell gas had gotten into it(first time drz owner...lesson learned.) So I put mobile 1 20w-50 in it and a new filter and started it up to take it for a spin. It starts ok (not great), idles high on half and full choke as expected and then when off choke it has a kinda rough idle and if I blip the throttle half of the time it will just shut off. I don't want to turn this into an oil thread but is it possible 20w-50 is too heavy for the 50 degree temps outside? I know there is a vast amount of drz knowledge on this site so what do you guys think about whats going on? It has a stock exhaust, no 3x3 and as far as I know stock jetting, filter looks good (I am going to pull it and clean it anyway) and I'm about 500ft above sea level. Hopefully this info will help the drz gurus make some suggestions. Like I said this is my first drz so maybe the kinda instant jerk followed by seemingly lagging power delivery is normal for these, but coming off of any other bike I have ever ridden it seems a little strange to me.

    What is this bolt's part number?

    Hey guys, I'm struggling to find the part number for this bolt online. The diagrams on Babbitt 's haven't been too helpful. It's on the clutch side of the crank case cover of a 2002 yz250f right where the coolant enters the case I believe. The photo attached below shows the bolt circled on red. I'm replacing it because for some reason it's been corroded. Thanks! It's one of the longer bolts...maybe about 3 inches in length?

  12. Hey all, Just the outer day I desisted to do some suspension work on my 2005 400exc, so I started searching trying to figure out whats on my orange machine. In all the chaos and confusion an idea came to mind... What if there was a master thread for all suspension of KTM dirt bikes, from early models to present, one place you could quickly find your bike and the suspension it sits on. It might already exist but I have spent hours looking for it and am in doubt. So hears the deal, I know you can look up a certain fork or shock and find loads of info and reviews about it so i'm not asking for that here, I just want to list the year, model, what it floats on, and changes in setup. If you feel so inclined to leave a comment or two about the suspension that would be great, but lets try to keep the list neat so its easy for others to find the bike they are looking for. This is what I have come up with so far I think its most of the major differences. Please correct me if i'm wrong. 2002-2006 All KTM, 2007-2016 EXC: Use an OC (open chamber) WP USD 48mm fork, with a PDS rear. The oc fork tends to be soft from the factory but loads of tuners have experience with this fork and I hear it can be set up great for a reasonable price. 2007 XC/XCF/XCW/XCFW: WP USD 48mm OC fork, PDS rear. 2007-2014 SX/SXF, 2008-2013 XC/XCF: WP CC (closed chamber) twin chamber fork , linkage rear. the forks have an air bladder that needs to be checked and filled instead of a pressure spring. Are more expensive parts wise and harder to set up. Great fork for advanced motocross guys or those who just want to most aggressive set up. 2008-2016 XCW/XCWF: WP USD 48mm OC fork, PDS rear. 2014 XC/XCF: First model to get the 4CS fork, uses a linkage rear. The 4cs fork is designed to be lighter but has a verity of performance problems one being little bottoming resistance. Lots of mixed reactions from users. 2015-2016 SX/SXF/XC/XCF: first year of sx/sxf to get the 4CS fork, linkage rear. 2017-present (2018) SX/SXF/XC/XCF: has an AER 48mm air fork, linkage monoshock. The AER fork is insanely light (over 3 pounds less than the 4cs). 2017-present (2018) XCW/XCFW/EXC: WP XPlor fork, PDS rear. I don't really know anything about changes in shocks, and there must be some stuff about forks that I missed, for example the OC fork has been used form at least 2002 until 2016 there must have been some changes during that time. If you happen to know anything about that or changes on the other bikes please share. Cant wait to hear what you all have to say. Happy trails

So a couple months back I bought a 02 yz125 too get back into riding again I have the bike for a couple days and one day when I’m riding I pull the clutch in and the bike stalls and when I go to kick it, it’s ceased. I got home took it all apart took the cylinder off and the top end was perfectly fine and the bike was still locked up so I assumed it needed a bottom end rebuild. I ordered a whole entire wrench rabbit rebuild kit and when I started to take the engine apart I started on the clutch side first and as soon as I took the clutch cover off and all the oil drained out and stuff the bike was able to turn over perfectly. I looked it up and assumed it was a temporary ceased bearing but I ignored it and went ahead with the whole rebuild. I rebuilt the whole entire engine with a buddy of mine who is very experienced with mechanics as well as myself and everything was turning over and moving flawlessly I put the whole entire bike together and went to go kick it and it was ceased!!!!! Again!!!!!! Me not even knowing where to start or what happened I decided to just take the clutch cover off, as soon as I took it off the bike turned over flawlessly again. I put it back on and ceased again!!! I was so confused I took the pressure plate off everything looks perfectly fine no cracks or dents or chips anything of that nature took all the plates out everything looks perfectly normal but as soon as I put it back together and throw the clutch cover on ceased!! Also the clutch does engage if I put the bike in gear and pull the clutch in, the bike will roll so I am so lost and I have so much money into it I’d hate to part it out and I haven’t even put 10 hours on this bike!! This bike is becoming a money pit for me with no positive results! Someone please help

    Cr250 problem helpppp

    I'm having a little bit of a problem with my 2002 cr250 and I hope you guys can help me figure it out. Every time I wash my bike water ends up in the carb,reeds I do use a power washer but I don't get too close to any of that stuff, it makes the bike idle really high when I first start after a wash and hard to start at first. TIA.
  15. Hey everyone, So my buddy has a 2003 KX250 with a bent frame, and I have a perfect 02 rm250 roller. Anyone know how easy it would be to swap the kawi engine into the zuki frame? From what I've read it should be fairly easy, because the engine mounts are almost the same with the early 2000's... Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    2002 KX125 Need a cylinder/jug

    Hi All, I just bought a beautiful 2002 KX125 but it's missing the cylinder. I can't find one anywhere! The parts fiche shows no compatible parts other than 2002. Anyone have ideas? Can I get a 99-2002 cylinder and just make sure I get the piston for it too? They seem to be different sizes. Also, if anyone has a used one, please hit me up! mark.andresen@gmail.com
  17. I am rebuilding a 2002 CR250. I may or may not have gotten the gear on the end of the tranny mixed up. 50/50. I need a diagram for a 2002 CR 250. Someone have a manual they can scan that page out of? When I look around I cannot find the exact one online

    2002 CR80RB $350??????

    I was browsing the local Craigslist ads as per the usual and came across this ad for a 2002 CR80RB for only $350! https://charlottesville.craigslist.org/mcy/d/02-cr80-big-wheel/6346421677.html From what I can tell in the picture it looks somewhat clean besides the fact that it doesn't run. I emailed the seller to see if he knew what was wrong with it and he said "kick start won't go down when you try to kick it". That's obviously a top end problem and hopefully has nothing to do with the bottom end. I'm thinking about buying it, putting a cheapo Namura kit in it, cleaning it up a little, and then selling it but i don't know if its feasible or not...

    Which silencer should i buy?

    Hello, I could not seem to find a similar thread so if one exists I apologize. I have an 02 cr250r with an 01 motor. I need to buy a new silencer with a spark arrestor because the current one does not have one. I am not sure if the owner before me used an 01 or 02 silencer because I have read the frame had significant changes from 01 to 02. Any thoughts? Thanks!
  20. Here's a plug chop from 4 hours of typical riding. However i have other issues. I have to cut slots into the float bowl screws as they are all stripped I have a suspicion that my float is adjusted wrong. Plug chopped fresh plug warmed up WOT and it looked better than the one pictured. The bike will not idle on thisn27.5 pilot which is leaner than the factory 32.5 idle screw is all the way in and still wont idle. I let it idle and do its thing when you rev it its boggy as youd suspect loading up with fuel but a few revs and it clears right up, idles normal for a few then drops to wanting to die I killed it and pulled the plug and it's super wet with oil and gas Anyone know the stock float height on a 2002 rm125? I have read online and i saw one person said the 03 is 8.7mm +- 1mm and also saw the 01 is 5mm anyone know for sure? And where to measure from/too thanks.

    spluttering issue

    hey guys new member here. i have a yzf426 (had for 15 years) and she has started spluttering at about 1/4 throttle. i have to start it with hot starter button pulled out as well. i just re shimmed last week and ckd again after the weekend and they are fine. it seems to idle ok and perform ok when you are really opening the throttle but the minute you cruise at any speed it is spluttering and missing something fierce! any ideas where to start? im thinking carby issue as i would have thought any issue with ems or ignition would be consistent through all rev ranges? any ideas welcome cheers guys!

  23. Hey guys, So I recently just went through the bike and replaced the exhaust cam on my 2002 yz250f with an autodecompression cam out of a 2004 model. I then shimmed the valves, cleaned the carb, and replaced the spark plug. Now it won't start regardless of whether or not I try to kick it or bump it. It seems like as I keep kicking it it goes through periods of extremely high compression where it is very hard to kick and then periods of low compression where it is a little easier to kick. Either way I can't get the bike to start. Any ideas?
