  1. Hi everyone im trying to find a spare rear wheel for my 2008 yz450f, ive heard 06-09 yz450f all fit one another, is there any one yamaha wheels that will fit my 08? i tried looking it up online & im receiving different information. -Thanks
  2. 2008 yz450f backfiring issue. Minnesota, 0-1,000', 70°-90°. Bought my friends '08 YZ450F w/ 167hrs, ran fine last time he rode it and the entire 3 years of ownership. He's never done any internal engine work or even messed with the carburetor other than cleaning it. Last time he rode it the rear wheel hub broke on the sprocket side and the chain jammed the front sprocket and stopped the engine. It hasn't been ridden or even started since-about 3 months ago. I bought it for a grand and threw my yz250 wheel on and thought it'd be ready to go... nope! 😩 starts right up, idles good, revs good, rides good until the exhaust is hot then it backfires like a mf (any throttle pos. but way worse wide open) and eventually dies until its cold again. New Air filter w/ fresh oil. Fresh 91 gas. Oils good, coolants good. Cleaned the carb, couldn't get to the a-pump or needle clip bc the screws were too tight. 75 PSI of compression. New spark plug, gap was good, insulator was mostly visible with a light grayish layer, electrode and outer ring had a light black layer, center electrode had the slightest bit of white residue. New plugs insulator was completely clean and the electrode and ring was black after 10 mins idling, 10 mins riding and messing with the fuel screw and idle. There was an air leak at the exhaust clamp, sealed that. There were cracks in the carburetor-engine intake boot, replaced that. The main jet was a JD170, replaced that with the standard 160 jet even though according to my friend the jets haven't been changed in 3+ yrs. The pilot jet is a JD48, standard is 45. Idles best 1/2 a turn out on the fuel screw with either jet, runs the same with both. Put the JD170 back in since that's what he always had in it. There was slack in the timing chain, tightened the tensioner. Timing is good I think? Cams lined up properly but the crank is just the tiniest bit past the timing mark. If I jump a tooth on the cams then the crank is further past in the other direction. Is this what the issue is?? How can I adjust the timing at the crank? Is that even a thing? Idk what else I can try at this point other than forcing my way into the accelerator pump to clean it Plz send help
  3. So I have a 2008 yz450f and I would like to add some LED lights to it to make it street legal. Mainly just a headlight and a tail light and turn signals if I need to (which where I live hand signals work). So where I need help is getting power from the stator to a battery. Wiring from a battery to anything else I got and understand and don't need help with (but recommendations are welcome). So my questions are. What type of power is coming from the stator. AC or DC? Will I need a regulator or rectifier? How do I wire something from the stator to charge a battery? What would that wiring look like? Would this stator http://www.rickystator.com/product/stators/yamaha/yamaha-yz450f-35-watt-lighting-stator-assembly-06-09 work? Anything else I should know? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
  4. Hello everybody, Im looking to purchase an exhaust sometime this summer for my 08 yz450f, mainly so i can get a spark arrestor & do some woods riding & also make it a little louder. Ive been looking at GYTR & also bills pipe, im looking for a slip on but if theres a good price on a complete exhaust ill spend the extra money. Whats everyone running on their yz?
  5. Hello, I just installed a full FMF system on my 2008 yz450f. Its a factory 4 slip with the mega bomb header. Had a couple questions. My first question is per the installation directions it states to put RTV high temp gasket maker at the header/slip on connection, my question is if there is suppose to be some kind of the gasket from the header into the motor? I dont believe there is but just wanna confirm. My 2nd question is on the directions it says some bikes dont need to be jetted unless given direction, which mine didnt say to. Just wanted to see if anyone has the same bike or around the same year that had to jet or didnt have to? Thanks
  6. Hello, I need to get a new front tire "have a paddle on the back of course" Usually I just throw any knobby on the front but after looking i found a few front tires "made for sand." i will post them below. https://www.motosport.com/bridgestone-battlecross-x10-front-tire?variant[BGS0033]=BGS0033-X001-Y001 https://www.motosport.com/michelin-starcross-sand-5-front-tire?variant[MIC004G]=MIC004G-X001-Y001 Has anyone tried these tires in the dunes? are they worth it? or does it not even make a difference & just throw whatever on the front? Also what tire pressure are you running in the front & rear in the dunes? been trying to mix it up seeing what i like best. Usually around 9-10 lbs. Have a 450. -thanks
  7. I was look at the acerbis gas tank on motorsport outlet it has pretty good reviews but also has a few bad ones as well. Such ass mounts not lining up, leaking ECT. I was seeing if anyone has put on this tank on same gen of yz450 as me & how do you like it. let me know thanks
