  1. Hey guys, I am looking into a new kx, just curious, I have looked into the 2017s and all the reviews say that the linear power is quite boring. I am coming off of a 2010 Kx250f carbureted so I like the snappy hit of the carb however I need a new bike to keep up with racing. The reviews on the 2018s all talk about all the updates on the 18 but there isn’t any mention on the power compared to the 17. My question is, is it really worth paying more for an 18 or getting a cheaper 17. Which one do you guys own and what do you think about them? I was thinking of getting a 17 and putting a vortex ignition on it. Do you reckon this is a better idea than getting a 2018? Thanks.
  2. So I just took off the valve cover to check valve clearance on my new to me/for the wife 2017 kx250f. Bike looked 100% stock one notch on chain adjustment from new showroom bikes and still had the nubs on very edge of tires. The cases had some scuffs but nothing to bad, looks like no tools marks on the timing indicator or valve cover bolts just oil cap. So my question is is the marking on the camshaft holders from the factory or has someone all ready been in the head? The exhaust is at 15 and the intake is at 13mm I have no clew what the 39 means? Thanks for any input also on a side note it was kind of hard to start before changing the oil but after it fired right up so easily that I was able to start it with my hand when cycling the oil thru is that also normal? I’ll try and take a vid also it’s only 19deg out!
  3. Bought a new 2017 Honda crf450 r, mostly a trail ,cross country guy, the bike is a handfull on bottom end, cant feather it like i want, it's wfo or thats it, very well purpose built motocross bike, should have done more research before buying but this is what i have, thinking of selling and getting ktm 300wxc, or 350, SO looking into my options, has anybody thrown a rekluse auto clucth on a 17 or 18 would love some feedback on this, cause i do stall the bike in tight stuff at times .
  4. Will any newer plastics fit on my 2006 kx250f if so what year and what plastic is it ec front fender pic just cause
  5. Hi, I'm seriously thinking about putting a Vortex in my 2017 EXC 350. Has anyone done this yet, and what was your experience? Interested in experience with the 450 and 500 also. I really don't want to get fancy with tuning - just put it in and find a map that I want. I will be removing the two screens in the exhaust outlet, and removing the reeds. Thanks in advance, Toby
  6. I tried searching the forum for this specific question and found nothing about performing a valve clearance check on a 2017 CRF250L. I just purchased a 2017 CRF250L and have noticed how the new model varies from previous years on when you should check the valve clearance. On previous years it is recommend to check the valve clearance on the first service which is at 600 miles along with changing the oil and oil filter. According to both my Owners Manual that came with the bike and also the Honda Repair Manual, they both state that it is recommend to check the valve clearance at 16,000 miles and it does not mention checking the valves at 600 miles. Is this one of the changes that Honda has made to 2017 model? Also, the bike has 730 miles on it and I have changed the oil and oil filter. I have noticed that the bike started to make some "valve train" noise at about 150 miles. The engine noise is audible from 5,000 rpm to about 6,500 rpm after the engine is warmed up. The noise slightly dissipated after my first oil change and I started to ride it much harder, but the noise is still there. Not sure if this is normal for the engine. Found some people on other forums talking about this, but I found it difficult to find a solid answer. Any thoughts? Any feedback would help. Thanks.
  7. 2017 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship to Feature Nearly 40 Hours of Live Coverage on MAVTV and NBC Sports Full Summer Schedule Includes More Than 60 Hours of Coverage MORGANTOWN, W. Va. (May 11, 2017) - The highly anticipated 2017 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship, sanctioned by AMA Pro Racing, will storm out of the gate in just nine days, and today MX Sports Pro Racing and NBC Sports Group unveiled the full slate of broadcast coverage for the upcoming season. The world's most prestigious off-road motorcycle championship will once again call NBC, NBC Sports Network (NBCSN), and MAVTV home this summer, spearheaded by nearly 40 hours of LIVE coverage and more than 60 hours of total broadcast time. Three rounds of live network coverage on NBC serves as the centerpiece of the 2017 television schedule, with the final 450 Class moto of the Red Bull High Point National (June 17), Red Bull Southwick National (July 8), and GEICO Motorcycle Budds Creek National (August 19) each brought into millions of homes across the country. MAVTV will continue to bring live coverage of the opening motos at all 12 rounds, while NBCSN will carry live final-moto coverage from half of the races The 2017 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship will storm onto television screens for more than 60 hours of broadcast coverage this summer. Photo Courtesy: MX Sports Pro Racing / Simon Cudby Arguably the biggest change in how fans can watch the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship this summer is online with the introduction of exclusive on-demand access from NBC Sports Gold. For just $49.99 racing fans all over the world will receive the "Pro Motocross Pass," featuring direct-to-consumer live streaming with no commercials and the ability to witness timed qualifying and both sets of motos as they happen, in addition to full event replays from both the 2015 and 2016 seasons. That works out to just over $4 per round over the course of the season, with access to more live coverage and additional content than ever before. "When you combine the extensive broadcast schedule and the addition of NBC Sports Gold, the 2017 season presents an unprecedented level of access to the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship," said MX Sports Pro Racing President Davey Coombs. "Now our fans both domestically and internationally will be able to watch all the action unfold from the comfort of any television, mobile device, or streaming platform. While it is bittersweet to depart with the complementary live streaming we've enjoyed hosting on ProMotocross.com, the price point and the amount of content that is available with the ‘Pro Motocross Pass' is truly incredible. It's without a doubt the best deal of its kind for the sport as a whole." Fans around the world can now watch commercial free, on-demand live streaming of the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship via NBC Sports Gold's "Pro Motocross Pass." Photo Courtesy: MX Sports Pro Racing / Simon Cudby Capping off each round of the championship will be exclusive one-hour highlight shows on NBCSN, each airing within a handful of days of every National. NBCSN will also feature a mid-season-review episode, as well as season-review episodes for both the 450 Class and 250 Class. The Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship broadcast team that will bring the action to the fans will once again feature Jason Weigandt as host, handling play-by-play duties during the races, with former Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Champion Grant Langston serving as the color analyst alongside Weigandt in the booth. Trackside correspondent Georgia Albertson returns as well, bringing viewers inside information and the latest breaking news from the pits. The 2017 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship will kick off on Saturday, May 20, with the Red Bull Hangtown Motocross Classic from Prairie City SVRA in Sacramento, California. From there, the 45thanniversary of American motocross will take the fastest riders on the planet to the country's most iconic venues before crowning a pair of champions from Ironman Raceway in Crawfordsville, Indiana, on August 26.

  9. Hi, I just got my first two days of riding in the N CA woods and trails on my '17 501FE. Eventually, I tipped the bike too far to the kickstand side and it folded under (as the dealer told me it would). Anyway, I am looking for any suggestions on an aftermarket stand. A buddy as the pro moto but they do not list one (yet). Thoughts and help appreciated. Some other first impressions: out of the crate, the bike is amazing (stock everything except 13/48 gearing and signals and rear fender thinned down 😉 ). Bucket loads of endless power down low and up high. I could not want for more. I have zero problems starting or ideal cold or hot (as other express with older models). I see elsewhere on the forum people talk about getting the ECU mapped. My real complaint is that right off of zero throttle the bike "jumps" a bit - I'd like to see that buffered or dulled just a bit for better control - any thoughts on if the mapping addresses that? Suspension is overall good but a front is a bot harsh on the babyheads (I weigh about 185 and had a 25lb backpack). Gearing seems way too low for me so I am going back to at least 14 in the front (I never used first on 100+ miles of tight trails, creeks, etc. Since the bike will pull any gear anytime, 2nd handles everything and 6th is a bot low on the wide-open stuff). If first is a tad higher with the 14 I could see using first if necessary feathering the clutch a few times a day. Thanks for your constructive responses.
  10. I'm looking at retiring my 2007 CRF450R this year. I am after opinions on the best 2017 dirt bikes for vet racers like myself. I am a 34 year old fast C class or average to slow B class vet racer. I tend to leave the bike in 3rd as much as possible and let it lug a little if need be. I understand I will never use 100% of a 450's power. But I often find the power helpful to get up the speed to clear jumps if I start having issues maintaing my speed in corners, later in a race. I am thinking the Husqvarna FC450 would be my best bet. It's more mellow than some of the other 450's this year (thanks to the airbox and muffler), but still has enough low end so I don't have to shift and use clutch all the time. The FC450 is also set up so nice from the factory, I don't think I would upgrade anything. I am really tempted to try the 350SX-F too as I hear it handles amazing. But I do wonder if it might require a little more shifting, clutch work and general momentum maintaining than the FC450.
  11. Hi I have a 2017 ktm 85sx 17/14. I was wondering is there anyway to adjust my clutch because when I first start to ride it seems to be dragging a little bit like when I’m in first going down a hill it will engine break a little(not enough to hurt it but I still blip the throttle to be safe)Is there any way to adjust it like a cable. I read the factory manual and all it says is to adjust the lever but I don’t know if that would help but I will try. Any suggestions?
  12. So the title says it all, I asked this question a few days ago ( my initial post from a few days ago )before I narrowed it down. So it seems that if I take the spark plug out and put a tad bid of gas into the hole it starts up first kick and I can go through the whole throttle range and it doesn't bog or anything. If I wait about 10minutes and try to start it again, nothing not even a budge. Is there something particular that could be clogged? Or is my ECU bad for some reason?
  13. Okay so ever since I bought the bike a few months ago it always started up 1st try as long as I was at TDC (obviously I'd miss it sometimes so sometimes 2-3 kicks). The bike runs perfect is what I am trying to get across. Last night, 5/22/19 bike was running perfectly, and towards the end of the night (30mins before track closed) I went to truck to take a break and jumped back on it and it wouldn't start. So weird... So kicked a few more times, nothing. Waited around 20mins and tried again, still nothing. I dug further and decided to check the spark on the spark plug, spark plug looked like shit for one (see attached images) and I tried to get a spark out of it and I couldn't, bought one from AutoZone for $5 and came back and tested spark, saw a spark, great, put together bike and tried to kick a few times, nothing... So I ended up checking the valve clearances and they seemed fine and in spec Put everything back together again and at this point I was like hm... lets see what happens if I put a little bit of gas, about 1/2 of the top of a water bottle worth into the cylinder. Put the sparkplug back in and kicked it once and it started! Left it on for a few minutes to let it idle / rev it a little then I shut it off, re assembled the rest of the bike then sat back down on it once I was done and kicked it and started up first try again. So my question is, why all of the sudden did it start to seem perfectly fine?? Did that little bit of gas somehow unclog something along the way when it fired up the first time? I was just so confused because I really didn't do anything except replace the spark plug.
  14. I have a 2018 fe 501. I just installed a JD Tuner on it. I noticed now that when I am idling with the clutch in, if I blip the throttle quickly the bike will quickly die. It seems to run good otherwise. It’s just blipping the throttle at idle. I turned all the settings to “stock” (all 3 across the board) and it still does it, although it is harder to make do it then it did on the “off-road” settings. What gives? Any ideas?
  15. I am having trouble getting the original inserts out of my Yoshimura RS-9's. Has anyone put the sparky's in these and had success? I bought the spark arrestors from Yoshimura, but for some reason cannot get the original inserts out to put in the spark arrested inserts. When I remove the bolt and nut, the insert doesn't budge at all. These pipes have fragile carbon end caps and I do not want to damage them by using force to try and pry them out. Here is the back of the pipes for reference. Thanks in advance Chase
  16. I am shopping for a fmf q4 slip on for my 2019 crf250l. The only ones in stock are for a crf250l rally. After doing some research the oem exhaust for a crf250l and crf250l rally are the same part number. But the fmf site has different part numbers for each bike. Does anyone know if they are the same pipe? Because I accidentally orders a q4 for a rally and I just have a normal L.
  17. I purchased a new yz250x and have only about 4-5 rides on it. Last weekend it was running good then the engine just quit. Checked the plug and it was fouled and seems to be running rich. Was wondering if anyone had some tips on what I should do. Change jet? Change fuel ratio? Currently running 40:1
  18. Last race of the series!!! Should be an interesting day in 450's

  21. So i just recently bought a 2017 CRF 250R and as you all know it comes with dual exhaust. I would really like to get the benefits of more horsepower through aftermarket exhaust but am wondering about replacing it with a single side system? Has anyone done this? Ive seen it done before but have no input on whats best for the bike and what exhaust options are really good for my model. if anyone could give me some input on the direction i should go ,it would be appreciated. single side? dual? and what manufacturer would you go with for my particular model? obviously i would like to not spend 2000 bucks on dual exhaust from top manufacturer of aftermarket. ....help please.
