  1. OK here goes... Picked up an 04 200 EXC few months back, needed some work to say the least, wont go into detail of all the things i've fixed on the bike just the current and most present issue I cant seem to fix... it is smoking IE blue smoke/lots of splooge to the point that at the end of a few hour's ride, it's out the tail pipe, running down the back and dripping onto the swing arm/rear break caliper and blue smoking quite a bit. When I first got it, it smoked more and smelled like shit. So first things first went to the carb, I live on the Oregon coast (elevation/temp reference) it's old dirty/stained but inside looks good, came with jetting pilot-45, main-178 needle: no idea what brand guessing stock in the 3rd clip, adjusted the float height due to it leaking gas when bike was upright no tilt with the gas on, Bought JD jet kit and running pilot-45, Main-185 and Needle is blue 3rd clip (JD's recommend specs for my bike @ my attitude). I have also replaced my Inner crankcase seal twice (First time I thought I messed up the O-ring so redid to make sure). I've rebuilt the top end/new piston (same thing) cleaned the PV, NOTE HERE that the PV has some issues, it seems to work fine but the screw that goes on top of the cylinder, down into the PV/flap would not come out preventing me from removing the flap to clean it, however it move's/ function's correctly, and has minimum clearance on both sides. One of the PV cover bolts that also works at the exhaust spring holder, was over torqued at some point (impact driver prob), or a result in a hard impact, the hole the bolt goes into is flailed/jared open a bit, not bad, not in the way of any function/ PV Gearing/hinge, it is not needed for that area to be air tight as their is also a breather that goes out of the PV so will not result in an "air leak" or loss in Top end PSI.... anyway... it's still smoking.... quite a bit.. now the bike itself rides fine I feel, the carb does puke gas when tilted over slightly/ hard to start (kick start) after flooded (like all bikes tho) I don't have any stalling/low idle issues outside of user error on clutch control. Honestly outside of it smoking as much as it does I would think nothing is wrong with it.. I have also tried raising the needle Clip to 2nd clip and it changed nothing at all, not even feel of the bike/response and have a new Spark plug I have yet to put on the bike. I have also "compromised" the crankcase Gasket (new one in the mail) while I was putting the Crankcase back on but that should do nothing with the exhaust just a little gear oil leak not relevant but throwing it out there. So I am at a loss... I've been toying with the idea of getting a Lectron carb... However... would hate to drop $400~$500 and the issue still persist, if it's a jetting/carb/float issue that would fix it and improve MPH/fuel consumption Or something with the PV? but I don't see the PV causing that much smoke/sploogee... I've ridden the bike normally/hard and nothing's happened but I don't want to keep pushing it and possibly clip the bike. Any ideas? "Oh help me 2 stroke community you're my only hope"
  2. I got a question. I own a 2016 KX 85. It ran amazing after it first bought it used. I was riding one day with a bogging issue and about 35 minutes of riding I shut it off to take a break. Came back 20 minutes later and it would not start.I changed the spark plug, cleaned out the carb,checked the reeds,and tried hill starting it but nothing .When ever I try to hill start it I can hear it trying to crank and It starts for like half a second but then dies.There is spark coming from the plug though.I took the cylinder off and the piston and cylinder are &%$#@!ed.The piston rings were stuck in the grooves and I had to use pliers and a screwdriver to get it out.There was a ton of blow-by and the cylinder was scored.I bought a new piston already but how can I fix my cylinder.Im thinking of getting it repaired and replayed by either millennium,PowerSeal USA, or usnicom.This is my first time owning a 2 stroke.Any answers or tips.

  4. I have a 2018 KTM 250 SX and I have found my way to this forum because my ktm dealer is the only one in a two hour radius and does not know a lick about their own bikes. Also all of my family and friends have never had KTM's or Husky's. I race motocross and am in the Intermediate/B Class, I weight 185 pounds. So I was hoping I had some KTM gear heads on here to help me answer some questions. Warning: I am about to ask a lot of information so if some threads are already created just please point me to the link. 🙂 My main goal is kind of crazy in my mind... I need more longer wrap out time in 2nd gear but need 3rd gear to be snappy out of turns so I do not burn up my clutch. I ask this because a lot of the tracks I ride at in Missouri have pretty good size jumps right out of a sweeper or sharp turn. I dont like to hit them in 2nd right now because I get the Ronnie mac air boner affect in the air (because 2nd gear is very snappy and short). 1. Does anyone have any recommended adjustments for the RED power valve spring? (turns out/turns in?) Also what is the tool/socket I need to adjust, Robertson? What size? 2. Any recommended suspension settings other than the manual? 3. My manual says the bike has a Performance ignition map that can be plugged in? Is that correct or is that only for the EXC models? 4. What rear tire has everyone seemed to run on this bike, 120 or 110? 5. Hate the long silencer exhaust, Should I run the FMF Shorty or the ProCircuit Shorty? 6. What size rear sprocket seems to work best for motocross with this bike? 49? thanks for the much needed help!
  5. Hey guys, just thought I'd share with you my custom build... Picked up a '06 YZ450F rolling chassis for a donor. Stripped it down to a bare frame to start making measurements... I cut the engine mounts off the frame so I could mock up the engine for clearance. Had to ream out the swingarm/case bushings from 17mm to 18mm. Ground off the casting flaws to give it a cleaner/smoother look when finished. Surprisingly, the Ohlins big bore cylinder actually has MORE clearance around the Y in the frame than the stock cylinder does! I'm hoping it will look/perform similar to the MPS conversion bike. I think the older frame actually looks better than the newer one though... This is my over the winter build, I'll keep updating as I make progress. As an avid snowmobiler, it might be hard to find the time to keep it moving, but I'm going to try!
  6. Ok so I got an 01 kx250 about 2 and a half months ago, it’s super snappy and throttle response is amazing. I foul plugs literally every ride, the plug is black every time as well. I run 32:1 with Honda racing oil. My gear oil is a little low but it’s negligible imo since the time that has been on it since I replaced it (around 4 hours ago). The bike smokes a lot on start up and smokes even when hot. I know it’s probably a jetting issue but would gear oil constantly be smoking as described and I don’t smell gear oil burning. It spooges quite a bit also. I’m new to 2 strokes been on 4t most of my life any help would be appreciated.
  7. Hey everyone. Its my first time ever touching a 2 stroke engine so sorry for my vocab. So I have a cr250 2002 that I recently purchased with a full motor with good trans and the top end taken off since it wasnt working properly. The case had a small whole where the crank spins on the bottom causing the fuel to leak out. The guy gave me the bike with the full engine and a extra taken apart same engine he had with the good casing. So my question is that I am going to be putting a full rebuild kit https://www.ebay.com/itm/HONDA-CR-250R-WISECO-ENGINE-REBUILD-KIT-CRANKSHAFT-PISTON-GASKETS-2002-2004/190811143511 its a weisco top and bottom end. The kit doesnt come with tranny bearings so should I replace them while I am there or should I be good the bearings spins ok with no weird movement. Also which one is better wiesco bottom end or a hot rods for 2 storkes. Thank you and stay safe out there!
  8. Today I decided to properly gap my spark plug on my 2003 KTM250SX and I started it up after gapping the plug 0.60mm like what my manual said. I started the bike after and it was running really well and clean ( I was happy) I was reving it slightly to warm it up and then the bike bogged and died like the plug was fowled ( I just rejected the carb and it was running really good) I took out the plug again and it looked normal from what I can tell so I put it back in and the bike will not start. ANYTHING WILL HELP Thanks Bike has been known to foul plugs but not recently with new top end. Bike Also has brand new top end with 2 hours on it roughly. Mixing ratio is 40:1 Plug is Br8ecm
  9. So I just got done rebuilding my 2000 rm 250 bottom and top end. Its bored over 2.10mm to be a 265 (I believe). It has a Pro circuit header, FMF shorty silencer, and vforce 1 reeds. Its just barely broken in maybe an hour or two on it so far. It keeps fouling plugs and sounds a little rich. Its running a 160 Main (2 up from stock) and 48 Pilot (1 up from stock) with the needle clip on the stock setting. Should I change my needle clip position? Any help or tips would be greatly appreciated! 🙂

So a abit of background information. bike is a 2018 husqvarna tx 125. bike had 100 hours on with apparently new piston at 60. rode the bike a few times felt fine power seemed a bit strange bottom end power was nice but top end was abit less snappy than what I expected . ( I thought this was normal as I had mx bikes and this was my. First enduro). I put about 10 hours on it (not hard riding)and seemed a little lower on compression but still started after 2/3 kicks (originally was first every time).I also noticed as slight clicking noise when the revs where at very low rpm (almost like piston slap). So...... I was out for about 2 hours not riding very hard as I intended to put piston in next ride but on the way back to van I opened it up near enough flat out (out of curiosity)then slowed down and bike bogged out&died . Afterwards it would not start! the compression is now considerably low I have new spark plug and carb has been cleaned and the bike won’t start (obviously without compression ). so my personal diagnosis is the rings have gone. My question is could it be anything else before I change top end??? Will it need a full engine rebuild & also what piston do you think would be best???? any response would be great thanks.
