  1. I am looking for a YZ125 and have found a 99 for 1300 and an 03 for 1600 both in pretty nice condition. Obviously going to negotiate the prices down however I was wondering which one you guys would suggest. Ive been doing research and know that the 03 is lighter with a modified frame though it has a 5 speed. The 99 motor is well liked for the power and reliability. I will be doing strictly trail riding so whats the better option here?
  2. In august I had bought a 1995 YZ 125 for exactly $480. Two days prior I had sold my '05 TTR-125E for $780. the YZ had a blown top end and he had told me it was because he ran a spark plug that was too long and that was the reason for seizure. I tore it apart and half of the piston was completely melted, the rings were melted into the piston head however there was no obvious damage done to the topside of the piston.... liar. I tore the bike as soon as I got it, starting with gas tank, then radiators, then cylinder head - when I pulled it the cylinder was smooth and piston still moved freely within the cylinder. did some measuring and inspecting and decided to buy a wiseco piston kit with the piston - 54.50mm + new rings and Athena gaskets + exhaust header springs. I also bought a 600 grit sandstone hone and stuck it in a wireless drill and went to town on the cyilnder, I'm not sure why people always send out their top ends to get honed. it was so easy. While waiting for slowco to send me their kit I began removing all of the god awful ugly plastics, and began restoring them with a hard surface stripping gel I picked up at walmart. also the plug that was in the bike when I got it was the NGK B9EG, which is what I run right now, double liar.. I don't know what else to say, im bad at thumper talk. enjoy the pics. comments welcome
  3. I got a question. I own a 2016 KX 85. It ran amazing after it first bought it used. I was riding one day with a bogging issue and about 35 minutes of riding I shut it off to take a break. Came back 20 minutes later and it would not start.I changed the spark plug, cleaned out the carb, checked the reeds, and tried hill starting it but nothing .When ever I try to hill start it I can hear it trying to crank and It starts for like half a second but then dies. There is spark coming from the plug though.I took the cylinder off and the piston and cylinder are &%$#@!ed.The piston rings were stuck in the grooves and I had to use pliers and a screwdriver to get it out. There was a ton of blow-by and the cylinder was scored.I bought a new piston already but how can I fix my cylinder.Im thinking of getting it repaired and replayed by either millennium,PowerSeal USA, or usnicom. This is my first time owning a 2 stroke.Any answers or tips.

  5. I just bought a 1983 KX80E and found an new old stock piston for $30 but can’t find rings. I know Wiseco make rings for it that cost around $45, so I was wondering if I could pair the aftermarket rings with the oem piston. (Same size).
  6. I need mechanical advice on a 1994 YZ 250 I had bought the bike cheap from some guy and the bike ran but was rough smoked a lot but still ran I had purchased the bike as a project I compleatly got rid of the old carburetor and put a brand new Kehin airstriker carb with boysen power reeds. I tore down the top end knowing it was going to need a rebuild put a new pro-X piston, rings and needle bearing. I replaced all gaskets with a mood racing gasket set. I threw the bike back togeather and it did not start thinking it was an electrical problem because the spark was week I replaced the stator, ignition coil, and the cdi box and switch put it back togeather and still did not want to start with fresh gas the spark plug it wet with gas it has great spark now and a lot of compression I’m stuck anyone have a idea?
  7. I have an 02 yz125 I have started to notice a leak from the upper cover (power valve cover the one you can't get to above the exhaust port?) it's doing a little more then Weeping not much more but yea. Was woundering if this could be looked past for awhile or should I replace the gasket right away?
  8. Hello! I am currently looking at road legal 125cc 2 stroke bikes. Been looking on KTM 125 EXcs, as they are quite popular here (7 EXCs for sale currently, and only 1 Husaberg, 2 Husqvarnas :D), so you get a bigger choice. The question is, is there a really big difference between the older EXCs, vs the new ones? The newer ones cost A LOT more, so I thought I could get away with an older one. There's a 2007 EXC for sale currently for a good price. It has new 2011 plastics, headlight, gas tank and decals (everything new). Painted main frame, new rear frame, painted handlebars and some other small parts. New seat, decals, both sprockets and chain. The engine got a new cylinder and piston. New bearings, refurbished cam shaft, new kick + shaft and new gaskets. Some other minor parts like an FMF fatty + shorty, Twenty levers etc, but I don't think that plays a big role. Do you think that it's eorth getting that bike, or should I try to buy a newer one? Difference in power, fuel consumption or anything else? Regards, Szymon.
