  1. Federal trade agency proposes higher import fees on certain motorcycles Voice your opinion today! Take Action **If you receive an "Internal Error" after you submit your comments, please hit the "Back" button on your browser and resubmit.** The Office of United States Trade Representative requested comments on Dec. 28 regarding its proposal to include tariffs on motorcycles imported from the European Union with an engine size between 51cc and 500cc in the E.U. - U.S. beef hormone trade dispute. The deadline to submit comments is Jan. 30. The American Motorcyclist Association opposes the proposed tariff, because trade disputes residing within the boundaries of the agricultural industry should not be solved with trade sanctions levied against non-agricultural products. Specifically, a 100 percent, or higher, tariff on these motorcycles is proposed. This will cause serious and potentially irreversible harm to American small- and medium-sized business owners selling the vehicles. Additionally, consumers will be denied access to certain models of competition and recreational motorcycles that contribute to the lifestyle and wellbeing of millions of American families. Manufacturers that will be impacted: 1) Aprilla; 2) Beta; 3) BMW; 4) Ducati; 5) Fantic; 6) Gas Gas; 7) Husqvarna; 9) KTM; 10) Montesa; 11) Piaggio; 12) Scorpa; 13) Sherco; 14) TM; and 15) Vespa. Should the availability of product be hindered through unjustified trade sanctions on European-produced motorcycles, dealerships may close, leaving countless Americans without jobs. The negative effects of the proposed trade sanctions will not only harm the motorcycle sales industry, but will spread through the aftermarket equipment sector, recreation equipment sales, the sports entertainment industry and further down the line. You can do something to prevent this from happening! Use the AMA's easy to use tools to submit comments to the USTR by Jan. 30 to say you oppose the idea to penalize motorcyclists in the beef trade dispute. Make our voice stronger by sharing the AMA alert. Share with your friends on Facebook. Now more than ever, it is crucial that you and your riding friends become members of the AMA to help protect our riding freedoms. More members mean more clout against the opponents of motorcycling. That support will help fight for your rights - on the road, trail and racetrack and in the halls of government. Excellent handling, superior electric start
  9. Looks like a lot of new stuff on the GASGAS, I wonder how heavy it is though.
  10. How long should I expect a lithium battery to last? I put a Shorai lithium battery into my 2014 RR300. It started the 300 like it was on steroids. Now a 2 stroke 300 is not going to put much strain on a lithium battery. In the 23 months its been in the bike I have never flooded the bike or needed to crank and crank the battery to get it to start. The bike has been run most months, and every time I have hauled it out of the garage the battery has woken the engine up with gusto. I rode the bike two weeks ago for an hour. Started fine. Then went to start it last weekend. The solenoid clicked and the starter attempted to turn. Started on second kick. Part way through the weekend I tried the electric start and no sound whatsoever. Tonight I stripped the bike down a bit and pulled the battery. Its turned into a pumpkin, with both long sides bulging about 15mm. Reads 0.0 volts. The battery has never been charged other than by the bike. Has always read about 13 volts, even after a couple of months not being used. For a $260 battery I would have expected a bit more life out of such an expensive bit of kit? What are other peoples experience with lithium batteries?? They certainly cut down on weight, but my last lead acid battery in a 525 lasted 4 years!
  11. And yes they are fuel injected!! http://www.betausa.com/
  12. Posted Today, 11:26 PM #1 Beta 300rr vs YZ250x: post #1 I need a new bike. I have modded 05 YZ250 and a lot of the parts will swap to a new 250x. Beta 300rr has some things going for it but it's heavier by nearly 20 lbs. has anybody ridden both. I would save a ton on a 250x and also be able to swap my high end accessories. I will race this new bike also in my local enduro circuit. I ride on average about 30 mile loops 3-4 times a week in high desert mostly technical trails. I know the Beta suspension isn't close to the YZ250x so it will need attention. Inrealize the Beta will cost more but what accessories are mandatory. My Scott's damper will transfer with a kit.
  13. So was out riding this morning at a local Mx track, and then went to hit a dune close by. Got up twice and on the second time the bike died on the way down. And didn't want to start again. Electric start didn't work, and when I tried to kick start the kick start was stuck and would not go anywhere. Ended up being towed back to the car. I premix my fuel with liquimoly race 2 stroke oil. Took the air filter out and checked in the air box to see if any contaminants got in and it was clean. Bike has 40 hours on it. Was bought brand new. It's a 2015 300RR Race edition. I've kept it maintained. Always made sure my mix is 40:1 and changed air filters regularly. Changed gear oil about 3 weeks ago. Need to take it to the shop this week and find out what the story is. This happened to anybody else? Just bad luck? Or am I not doing something I am meant to? Really trying to understand what happened... Spoke to a mechanic on the phone and says sounds like it's be big end. So this is going to be a expensive one. :/. Any advice from some of the experienced 2 strokers out there will be greatly appreciated.
  14. TM 300en vs Beta 300 RRR ?? Just curious if there are any former TM riders that have switched to Beta. I thought I had it narrowed down to Beta but the TM's look sweet as well and seat height is a little taller, which would fit my 6'-2" frame a bit better. Your guy's feedback is appreciated.
  15. Sorry if there is already a good explanation here somewhere but I have tried the search and google with not much luck. Can someone explain to me what the preload adjustment does on the right fork leg on my 2020 300rr and what turning it CW vs CCW does? In the italian with english subtitles video beta has it sounds like it's to adjust for someone who is heavier or to raise the front for riding in soft terrain like sand?
  16. Ok I got my 300rr 13' model. I need a skid plate and a pipe guard. I've seen a couple of options but I can't find one skid plate that was put on a thread. I think the company that sold them was from Spain but not sure..It was a nice aluminum one. . If anyone remembers what thread it was on I'd appreciate the link. So here is some of what I've found so far. I hope some can figure some good combos. I'm not really into the carbon fiber pipe guard and not into the plastic. I'm looking more for of a strong aluminum versions.. not sure about other pipe guard options too... but list everything anyway so everyone can find what they like and make their own decisions on what works for them. http://betamotor.com.au/betaenduro/product_info.php?cPath=99&products_id=4929 http://shop.americanbeta.com/p/heavy-duty-aluminum-skid-plate-rr-2-stroke?pp=12 http://www.rapid-moto.com/catalogsearch/result/?q=%22BETA+RR+300+2T%22&utm_content=buffer84cae&utm_source=buffer&utm_medium=facebook&utm_campaign=Buffer Here's some picture ideas.. https://www.google.com/search?q=2+stroke+pipe+guard&espv=210&es_sm=93&tbm=isch&imgil=ZuzPCJ_Buu-NyM%253A%253Bhttps%253A%252F%252Fencrypted-tbn3.gstatic.com%252Fimages%253Fq%253Dtbn%253AANd9GcQ0s26r_xuiCewb693nNvwl2AxElxdaREcevJsw6HUDyDpAKHjoBw%253B200%253B200%253Bnkbp2VCnlA2yNM%253Bhttp%25253A%25252F%25252Fslavensracing.com%25252Fshop%25252F2-stroke-pipe-guards-for-ktmhusaberg-by-flatland%25252F&source=iu&usg=__pRF5DCyPoreKInFsvYBMpffOx6Y%3D&sa=X&ei=BJ42U--fC8Tr2QWj-IHgDA&ved=0CFIQ9QEwAg#imgdii=_
  17. Went and rode an area I had never been too, Table Mountain/Lions Rock Campground (North out of Ellensburg, WA). Camp was at 6,360ft, which is pretty high for around here considering I am a sea level sorta guy. Was able to see the Milky Way plain as day when sitting out in a mountain meadow and watched the meteor showers for the first time ever. You don't get to see that stuff living near Seattle, WA. Rode through a forest that had burned about 3, maybe 4 years ago. Never really ridden that vast of an area that had burned. Some trees survived amongst the ghostly dead trees lost to the fire. Grasses and wild flowers are coming back, along with some low brush that is taking hold. Only managed 41 miles but was treated to some amazing vistas. I should have taken more pictures but I was "leading" our group and trying not to get lost on the horrible maps we had.... which brings me to the subject line. I stuffed the folded map in the little pouch on the seat of my 2016 300rr RE. Only other suggestions my friends have given me is "that is where the pictures of naked girls go" What is the official purpose of that pouch? Hope everyone got out and rode this weekend! Kevin
  18. Hi Guys, I bought myself a 14 300rr racing model and find the red zokes too harsh and stiff -(it's sprung correctly for my weight, i've tried everything to get them to work), and I just can't get on with them as I ride a lot of choppy, slow speed roots rocks etc. Can I fit a pair of Sachs open chamber forks straight onto the bike in my current clamps ? (Do I need to change the wheel, spacers or brake bracket ?) Are these sachs better for slower speed riding ? What rate spring rate do the sachs come with stock ? And do the red zoke springs fit into the sachs forks ? I appreciate any info, Thanks guys

I have had the 300rr a couple weeks now and love the power. I have a noise on start up it's back at the dealer now. ( believe it is the starter bendix) But so far I'm impressed with the bike all the way around. Would I buy a neither one if this one was stolen? Yes I would.

Great bike for off roading. I am not a track rider, strictly recreational woods riding. This seems to be the ultimate bike for what I do.

Great engine, You almost can't kill it. Smooth power from idle up. The suspension is nice and soft. Prefect for the woods and trails. The starter fires the motor before you can get your finger off the button. Oh yea, It's really pretty.

Over the last few years, we’ve noticed more and more Betas showing up on race results sheets from EnduroCross to National Enduro to Extreme Enduro races. The Italian off-road bikes have been gaining ground and for 2018 Beta has made quite a few changes to its entire lineup. Here we are going to take a closer look at the 2018 Beta 300 RR two-stroke. This is our first ride impression and there will be a full test, with multiple days and multiple riding locations, in the print magazine. First off, the 300 RR is a claimed 10 pounds lighter than last year’s model, which is quite an impressive feat. That being said, Beta models in the past haven’t been necessarily lightweights. How did the company do it? Beta doesn’t explain where the weight loss came from, but one area, most likely, could be the all-new frame for 2018. Additionally, the bike has an updated, smoother-operating clutch and all-new cylinder that Beta says is aimed at even smoother power. One of the unique features that stays the same is the 300 RR’s oil injection. No premixing need with this machine; straight gas goes in the tank and premix two-stroke oil goes in the oil tank found under the seat next to the air filter and battery. With our previous Beta two-stroke testbikes we got about three tanks of fuel to one tank of oil, which is way less oil used while premixing. The reason for this is that the computer changes the oil amount per the rpm and throttle opening. That means at idle and low rpm/small throttle openings it can be as little oil as 100 to 1 while wide open at high rpm it can add more oil to get to the 32 or 40 to 1 we are more used to. The suspension stays the same this year as well; a Sachs 48mm USD fork and Sachs shock.
