  1. im am 13, 100 pounds (with gear) and currently ride a 08 yz85 and am looking to move up. first off im not rich and i have to pay for my own stuff, i am not going to be racing i mainly just ride track and trails here and there also some desert sinlge track. i am debating on witch i should get next a yz125 or a yz250f. i can handle the power i have riddden both a 125 2 stroke and a 250f and i basically fell in love with both so i am in a predicament on what whould be best. anything helps
  2. I went with a friend of mine to look at and ultimately purchase a used 2007 CRF50 last week. While originally checking it out, I noticed that the idle would hang a bit after letting off the throttle (basically after the throttle is open and then closed, the engine will stay at a high RPM and not settle back down to normal idle for different amounts of times - sometimes just a few moments, other times up to 8-10 seconds), I figured it would be something minor like the throttle cable or gummed up carb, so I told him it was good and he bought it. I took it to my house to go over it and see if I could figure the issue out, but have been unsuccessful. I changed the oil, spark plug and filter (the filter and interior of the air box were pretty sopping wet with oil when I first opened it up). I also took the carb apart and rebuilt it fully with an all balls kit. None of this changed the mannerisms that I described above. I checked the cable and it seems fine, I also could actually see the slide opening and closing with the throttle tube in the carb. I've been told that this issue might be due to an air leak after the carb. I sprayed carb cleaner all over the intake in an attempt to find a leak, but I wasn't sure if I did. There were a few times that I sprayed and the idle hopped up, other times it didn't. I did set the fuel/air screw and idle screw at the factory setting after the rebuild as well. I feel bad because I went to look at the bike with my buddy and told him it was good, and now I can't get it straightened out for him. Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated. I can give a better description or put a video up of it if that would help. Thanks!
  3. I recently broke my kill switch on my Honda Crf50 Pitbike. A replacement is on it's way, and I'd rather fix it myself than pay $48.00 of labor... (rip off). Does anyone know how to properly connect the new kill switch? Is the connecting piece behind the front number plate, or do I have to take off the gas tank and seat to wire to the CDI? Thanks in advance. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ **(I was going to upload some pictures so you know what I'm working with, but I can't seem to download the pictures. I'll upload them if I can figure it out.)**
  4. Hello friends, My 7-year-old son recently worked up the coaching to climb a steep little hill by our home on our 2007 Honda CRF50F. As you know, these are fun/proud moments for a parent. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nYcZTLmIJNw
  5. hi, my little brother is getting a 50sx and i have to design the graphics on motocal. but they do not have the right model, however they do have ktm 50sx mini templates. so, i was wandering if they are the same.
  6. Not sure if I need to go through the carb or if I need richer jetting or what but I bought the bike for my kids from about 2500 ft elevation and it is currently sitting 20' above sea level on the coast. It has decent low-end power and decent power on top but right in the middle it just bogs down for a few seconds on its way up the powerband. It's okay for now as they are still learning to ride, but I want to get it sorted soon. Btw, the washer has been removed from where the header meets the head, and throttle stop removed and glued over. Any ideas on what's going on and suggestions on what to try to improve power to engine and wheels? Thanks
  7. So awhile back I got my little brother a KTM 50LC Pro Senior. When I got it the clutch and brakes where toasted so I got that all up to speed and he stated doing laps around the yard. All things are good until a few weeks ago. We went out for an actual ride where he could open it up a bit. Few hours of seat time in we stop for lunch and hop back on the bikes. The little KTM isn't starting so I get over it for a few kicks and realize something is wrong. I instantly thought piston and rings due to the kicker being extremely easy to move. I pulled the dome off and realized that compression was good but I can basically just touch the piston and move the kicker with no movement from the piston. Not sure if its part of the kicking system that's messed up or the clutch is toasted again. Just looking for some insight before I dig in any more. I do notice that the kicker doesn't really "let go" after the kick, it just stops the piston and all at once.
  8. I have a 1999 PW50 that I acquired from family. It has very low hours it just sat for 10+ years. I put new tires, plastics and knew it would need a carb rebuild. I wanna say I’m not a dummy when it comes to carbs but here’s the problem. When pulling the carb apart I could not get the choke plunger out it was seized in there. The cable broke and had to soak it to get the plunger out. After ordering a new cable and plunger and rebuilding the carb the bike fired up first kick. PROBLEM!! The bike will fire right up but it just floods itself out right off that bat and pours fuel out of the hose coming off the bowl. I have tore it apart numerous times and just can’t figure it out. The float is not cracked, I thought it might be filling with fuel. The only thing I can think of is it’s the cable and plunger that I ordered from pw50only.com If someone has any idea what the problem is please help haha. Thanks
  9. I just brought home a basket case... It looked like this before PO had it torn down. He's a track friend and needed some help, so I bought this from him for a few hundred dollars...the basket case sits in my garage, now: I'm in the middle of another restoration, so this one will sit a bit. Engine looks fresh except for mag alloy corrosion in water pump/clutch cover. Rear wheel is cracked badly. Frame bottom tubes need repair...a linkage bolt is stuck and the bearing collars are frozen in the swingarm...nothing too major wrong... It looks like it might be worth restoring for a Novice level MX bike?
  10. Made a little video of me riding some new trails we discovered, I had no clue where I was going. But I found out a way to ride a pretty fun loop to practice for woods races on. Check the video out, feedback is appreciated
  11. Hi All, My sons NEW 2018 KTM 50 SX has an issue in muddy or wet conditions. If he rides through a fairly deep puddle or is riding in muddy conditions the bike will eventually stall and then when trying to start it again I can usually get it started and it will run at lower RPM's but as soon as I try to give it gas and go to higher RPM's the bike will bog down and stall. Sometimes it will not start at all. If I let the bike sit for 20 minutes, it will start up and rip again without any issues. I assumed that coil or coil wires or spark plug wires were getting wet and and causing this BUT I have not been able to duplicate the failure wetting the bike with hose at home. It has me completely baffled. If the carb is clogging up somehow or airways etc. I can't figure out where or why it is OK after 20 minutes and why I cannot duplicate the issue. The bike is not getting hot, and it has happened just going through a deep puddle (Up to foot pegs at most) but splashing the bike. Anyone been through this? Any ideas on what it might be. Prior to having this bike, we had the mini. That was a nightmare with coil and stator issues and overheating. Other then this issue, this bike rips. Its been much better.
  12. Hello, Im having trouble figuring out whats wrong with my 2002 kx250. It was sold to me with the owner saying the clutch push rod was broken off inside the engine. The arm that moves when the cable is pulled it also gone. When I look down in the hole on the cable/magnito side of the engine I see some junk, I don't know if anything is broken. Maybe you guys can tell me what I need to do from the pics I uploaded. I'm pretty clueless about what to do, I've never worked on a bike like this before. I'm a vintage guy 😂 any tips would be appreciated.
  13. So I got the head gasket installed it fits perfectly. I put oil in the engine and let it warm up nothing leaking. After a good 5 minutes it starts leaking oil from the same spot as last time, it looks like a little rectangle right under the cam sprocket cover, it filled up with oil and then started dripping out, can someone please tell me what is causing this and how to fix it, I checked the head gasket and it's not leaking so I'm not sure what is causing the leak, photos attached of what I'm talking about. Note these are the same photos as before hence why there's rtv everywhere.
  14. Hi I was just wondering what upgrades I can do to my 2004 rm 125 (144 bored) that would be cheap but make the bike look amazing
