First time posting in TT for several years. Sooooo, I have been telling a buddy of mine who owns a local street bike dealership that if he ever got a franchise that sells street legal dirt bikes, that I would be his first customer. Been sayin it for 5-6 years, ... nothin. Then out of the blue he calls today saying he got a Beta dealership. Needs to send an initial order out in a few weeks. Wants to know if I'm going to order the 430 or the 500. Said I'll drop a deposit check off tonight but I'll have to get back to him on the model. I'm a plodder you see, I have no interest in killing myself to go faster than practicable. I'm 55 so arthritis is a frequent and unwelcome guest, which is becoming increasingly reluctant to leave. I have nothing to prove. I am in it for the places DS riding can take me, and the fellowship of those I ride with. I take pictures, smell the flowers, and avoid unnecessary risks. I don't want a torque monster that snaps my arms at every twitch of the throttle, so I thought I would order the 430, but the dealer said I might be better off on the 500 as it's power delivery is more linear. I find that curious. My current bike is an 03 yamaha WR450 which I'm not in love with, but it's got a plate, and it ain't a KTM. Is there any help from those here on which one I should put my money on? Your thoughtful opinions are welcome.

Hey, dont mind me from other stupid posts. Do you guys know if the Beta 4 strokes are street legal in Europe? Im from here/there And wondering why the bikes in Europe dont is/look street ready? Just noticed this now what the f... Here it looks just like a Enduro bike with lights why?? Is it just the images here in Europe got choosed because it looks more clean/appealing that way and they do give you the numberplate, mirrors like the rr-s when you get the bike? Or do they not? If not, why would Italy , a country in Europe, make their bikes not street legal in their own country meanwhile their bikes street legal in another continent? I dont understand that part..doesnt make sense ,hope im wrong about this //Patric🙏

It's at the dealer, Big Country Powersports in Magnolia, on the north side of Houston. I'm trying to make a living and can't go get it until next Tuesday. I'm in Austin. My buddy is going with me and we are going straight to the Sam Houston National Forest from the dealer, I hope it is ready to race! I haven't ridden there since The Caney Creek National Enduro in 2000? I didn't want it to look like last years model, so it got the RR treatment. I started my search for a dual sport about a month ago. My last dirtbike was a 96 CR500R that I only rode trails with and was all stock. It was a great bike for off road but sadly, I had no one left to ride with and with no trails close by I sold it in 2009. I had also sold my streetbike in 2009 and got a Corvette. Enough of that. A month ago I was going to buy a 2017 CRF250L. I had been going back and forth between that and a WR250R and wondered if the extra $1,500 or so was worth it. Then I had seen the KTM 350 and 500 EXC and put a deposit on a 17 500 EXC, THEN I came across the Beta 430 and 500 RS and went up to the closest dealer today to swing a leg over the 430 and chat with a salesman, I like the bike. I'm thinking of canceling my deposit for the EXC and just buying the 430 RS. Here are my thoughts, if you care; I would save $1,000 right off the bat as the MSRP for the 430 is $9,699 where the EXC is $10,699. For $100 more I could get the 500 but I don't think I'll need the extra power as I know I'm past my prime CR500R riding days and the 430 will be nice both on the road and on the trails. I'm mostly going to be riding the 4.5-6.5 miles back and forth to work over city streets and on the weekends, depending on where I am, or at night when I can go and ride for an hour or two after the kids go to bed, I know I won't be riding all day long, both weekend days like I did when I was single and had friends and the time to go and ride-I sure miss those days. I like that I can save the money and I like that I have been reading that Beta's are every bit as good and every bit as reliable as every other motorcycle out there and that both parts and service won't be an issue. The only two things that I consider changing on the bike would be the fuel tank and getting a bigger tank but then as I had mentioned, I might ride 60 miles a week going back and forth to work so stopping for gas won't be a big deal and again, I have no one to ride with so I really wouldn't need to worry about range plus, as a dual sport, I could just ride the the gas station-yes! I like that the bike has the Voyager GPS, that is a $300 bonus. I can go out and find new trails near me-there aren't many but there are some, powerlines and stuff and not have to really worry about getting lost, not that it was ever a problem in the past but it is nice to also have the tach, engine temp and all the other features it has that other bikes just don't have, yet. While I'm 5'7" and 165 dry, I had no problem at all having both toes touching the ground, no different than I was on my CR500's. I was glad that I won't have to get and possibly have any lowering kits installed. All the controls felt nice and I like that the clutch is hydraulic, the throttle pull was really smooth and light and that the bike still has the kickstarter-that KTM has done away with in 17. I had taken the seat off using the pushbutton and the salesman had shown me where they had installed the quick connector for a battery tender as well as rings on the lower triple clamp for the tie-down hooks-another couple of bonus'. Bike was brand new sitting there, waiting for me. Should I cancel the deposit on the KTM-as who knows when they might start shipping their bikes, save me $1,000 to put towards a new Shoei Hornet X2 helmet and the hitch rack I'll be needing for my SUV, and a possible LED headlight upgrade and buy the 2017 Beta 430 RS?

I have a 2015 Beta 500rs actual cc is 480 it has a 39mm fcr-mx carb on it. most of my riding is done from sea level to 8000 feet. Stock jetting is 180 main and 45 pilot. I just received a 41mm fcr-mx carb also installing a FMF Q4 slip on. Where should I start jetting the 41mm carb at? It is jetted at 170-45. Im sure thats not enough. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.
