  1. Kills the looks and likely some level of handling, but if you need the range, looks like a good option. Product link.
  2. so my 2016 has some light leaking off the rear shock at 9000km. Only one tiny stain on the cardboard I park it on – I wouldn't have even noticed but the shop flagged it when they were installing a new rear brake switch. I'm assuming it's likely a seal – any ideas how much labour + parts cost we're looking at here to get this fixed? I'm not mechanical at all so I like to post topics like this before walking to the shop with an open wallet. From what I read we're looking at good few hours as they need to dismantle most of the rear-end to remove the shock. I'll likely bring the bike to my independent guys rather than the stealer as ktm warranty doesn't cover 'wear' items. Although, it seems a little early in the bike's life to have a blown rear shock seal – especially seeing as 90% of my riding is street and my off-road chops are slightly above moderate with very minor jumping on rare occasion. I guess a seal can really go at any time though. Do they need to dismantle the entire shock as well? I hope I'm not looking at a $500 bill here. Front fork seals on my old crf 250L cost 30 bucks and 1/2 labour – $70.
  3. Looking for opinions on this rack. I like the grab handles and how it floats over the rear fender vs. using rubber bumpers. I don't intend upon using a big tail box, just some soft bags and a rotopax.
  4. Anyone do this? http://www.rally-raidproducts.co.uk/ktm-690-enduro-air-filter-conversion-foam-twin-air If so, impressions?
  5. Hey guys, so I got 3500km on my 2016 enduro (purchased new) and I just had to fill it AGAIN with oil for the third time!!! The first fill was almost 1litre at 750km (before first service), then the first service at 1500km which they drained/filled it and then I randomly checked the other day at 3500km and it was almost bone-dry, again (added another litre)!!!??? I called the dealer each time and they can't figure out what's going on. They said during the first service everything looked good and chalked the first drink to a fluke but there's still no answer as to why I had to top it off again. There doesn't seem to be any smoke indicating that it's burning oil but my dad did notice there was some residue inside the opening on the can. I'm going to give it another few hundred km's to see where this new batch goes as my dad mentioned the rings might still be working in but if it continues to keep going through oil I'm obviously going to bring it in to the dealer. Any ideas???
  6. Hello, I am new to the Ktm side of thumper talk. Just bought a 2015 Ktm 690 Enduro R. I have been looking at all after market stuff available for this bike and noticed it is difficult to find a lot of the things I like in the USA. I was looking at the Rumbux skidplate / radiator protectors / crash bars. Heard on a few forums they were having problems getting them for the 690 here in the states. Long strory short I have a friend that can make something similar to these bars/skid. We are going to start building the prototype on my bike. Is there any interest in these bars out there? if so post here and I will try to keep this post up to date on how the build is going. When we get done with the first ones we will assess cost and figure a price for them. Any input or ideas to make these bars better is welcome. Thanks everyone.
  7. What are my exhaust choices for 2017 690 enduro? I guess FMF stopped making mufflers for this bike. So is my only real option a Wings?
  8. Does anyone know if the oil that KTM puts in at the factory on a 2017 690 Enduro R is dino or synthetic oil? I want to break my motor in with dino, so I'm assuming that I'll need to drop the factory installed oil. But, figured that I'd see if anyone knows for sure. Going to be using this for break in:
  9. Some KTM 690 Enduro R and Husqvarna 701 Enduro motorcycles come from the factory with their steering stops waaaaaay too far out. You'll know how your's are set when you go to turn around and it takes enough room to turn around an 18 wheeler. Mine were horrible, buy my friend's 701 were set as they should be. Turn them as far in as possible, leaving just a bit of clearance between the fork tubes and the frame & wiring loom on the right side of the head tube. This free mod can make a HUGE difference in how your bike turns in tight conditions.

    Handguards

I am running out of luck trying to find handguards that fit my 2017 with stock Neken bars. I tried the KTM Evolution handguards but wasn't happy at all with the fit and they hit the ends of the levers: http://www.ktm-parts.com/U6910015KIT.html I tried to get these but they're on backorder for at least a few weeks: http://www.ktm-parts.com/7650297900028.html It looks like these might work, it says Renthal but they're also 1-1/8" like Neken: http://www.ktm-parts.com/U6951375-2.html What handguards work for you? I would love to know! Thanks

  13. For anyone looking for owner's impressions on the 2017 KTM 690 Enduro R, above is a link to my review after 450 miles of mixed use. Thx for reading.
  14. I'll start with an ABC, 123 mod for keeping your registration & insurance paperwork under the seat securely... Heavy duty, wet or dirty Velcro. Clean seat pan and KTM documents pouch with some rubbing alcohol to get good schticktion. Voila! This Velcro is tough (strong) and I really don't even have to separate the bag from the seat to get to my documents... not that I get pulled over a lot.
