Hello, I am new to the forums. I recently picked up a 1986 yamaha IT 200 that was sitting forever. The carb had a float issue where the needle valve wouldn't close. I fixed that and it's idling perfect now. But the problem happens when you hit the power band, the power band feels very short and it seems to lose power when I get closer to the higher rpm. Is it possible that I'm just used to my old bike? (which was a 2006 TM racing 125.)

Hello, I am 18 and wanting to get an enduro bike, I have ridden a 90cc Chinese dirt bike around the yard for most of my life. I have lots of time and am comfortable on a bike but I don't have alot of experience on trails. I am about 5' 9" and 150lbs. I have a 1977 Honda XL 175, I really like it but it doesn't have enough power for the street. I need to be able to go 60mph to get to the trails, the 175 can only go about 50mph realistically, I've messed with gearing but it just doesn't have the power. I'm looking at spending around $1000 for the bike. I want to be able to ride it to the logging roads close to me and on other local trails around western Washington. I don't plan on riding very hard or fast just for some fun. I would like to get a 4-stroke and I like 70's bikes. I am thinking that an xl 250 is what I should have gotten instead of the 175. I have found a 1987 Honda Xl250R for $850. The owner says "Nice bike in good shape for the year, ran perfectly until recently. Kicks over but will not start. Possibly a fuel issue. Too many projects and not enough interest to fix it myself. Brand new tires Newer battery Newer brakes and wheel bearings replaced the spark plug Registered as a collector vehicle" I emailed him and he says it stopped running about a month ago and it has low miles but the trip stopped working. Is this a good buy? I have heard the later 80's XLs can have head problems, I would bring a compression tester and a borescope. This bike also has the dual carbs with I have heard are problematic. I like the looks better of the 70's bikes but I understand that the 80's bikes have better suspension. It seems that some people say the XLs are great bikes and some say they are just bad whippy versions of XRs. Is it better to put lights on an XR or should I go for a Yamaha XT? My brother has a Suzuki rl250 trials that I think is a 75, and he rides with buddies with other 70's bikes.

Hi Guys, I’m new here! Also only 20 years old haha! - a couple years back I acquired my grandads old DR400s.... (long story, he bought it brand new in 1980, sold it to his cousin in 81, it then got put in storage from 81 - 2016) basically I spent a good 6 months fully restoring this beautiful bike! (Favourite bike I have ever worked on) - stupidly low miles and two registered keepers from new!!. The downside to it being stored is there was fuel left in the tank and carb! - I’ve had the carb to bits multiple times, soaked in many types of cleaner... I still am having issues getting the thing to start. basically I was just wondering if anyone had managed to find an Aftermarket carb that is a straight swap for this bike that won’t ruin the bank!!
