    hi guys. just looking to see how many fellow aussie members here.

Hey all, I know there's a thread in the international section already, but I'm more interested in how many Aussie DRZ riders are on here?I'm located on the Gold Coast, QLD :excuseme:Anyway I just bought my first DRZ today, it's a '01 model with the kicker engine. The previous owner has removed all the roadworthy gear including the indicators, speedo unit, brake light etc, even the rear subframe :lol:I've started gathering up some parts for it (indicator switch, trail tech vapor, edge tail light etc) so I can register it eventually. I was hoping there are others local to me so I could have a specific look at what parts I'm missing? Does any body know of any DRZ being parted out (for the subframe)? There's some on ebay US but postage is a killer.Would be great to catch up with any other aussies on the site
  3. I can hardly contain myself guys. I am less than one week away from picking up my new WR250F in Yellow. I would say I am coming from KTM, but I have to admit I still plan on owning at least one KTM for the indefinite future. I fly to Perth from Darwin town (Northern Territory, Australia) on Monday next week to ride with family and friends South of Perth Western Australia (also KTM and Yamaha guys - ^%&*%^* yeah). I have organised to buy a WR250F from a dealer in Perth. 5 Star Yamaha in Hamilton Hill Perth, who provided excellent service from a year ago when I tyre kicked in their shop just out of interest to look at a Yammy, they prepped the bike and got it road legal, called me back and helped organise me a test ride when I even said I didnt have the money at the time, they didnt tell me to piss off as I expected. If there's any Perth guys out there that think the service sucks in Perth (I'm not saying it does, but I am not local either), you aint seen nothing yet compared top the NT Ex-Yamaha dealer who I wont name. My experience with these guys is a far cry from the Ex-Yamaha/ (currently) KTM dealer up here in D-town who told me "dont sit on the bikes" when I bought my KTM, even though I had 10K in my pocket. Anyway, I am keen to get a hold of my new Yamaha and start wearing it out like I did the much abused 200EXC. Cheers. Mark
  4. Many from New Zealand use this site ? Hi, first time on TT and new to trail riding. Thumper Talk seems like a great resourse to use, for the old hands and 'us newbies' I enjoy the organised trail rides (eg Suzuki Trails) when I get a chance, but looking for other places to ride when time allows. Any suggestions for places to ride in South Canterbury ? I often go to the Opihi River near Temuka, but thats getting a bit lame now, any suggestions ? Great to get back onto a bike, a bit older now though (hurts more now when I fall), Im learning again on a drz400e, quite forgiving to a learner. Cheers, akiwi

  6. Let me start off by apologizing if this is a duplicate thread, at the time of writing the search function seems to be unavailable. When riding on road (the DRZ is my only transport) the bike seems to really hate 50 zones. Seems that 50 is right between 4th to 5th shift point, unreasonably busy in 4th and and borderline lugging on the flat in 5th, is this normal for the standard gearing? How do you guys get around this? I have messed around with jetting and mixture in an attempt to try and get just a little more power to cruise in 5th at 50 but it just either isn't to be or more likely I am not experienced enough to get what I am after. Extra relevant info. I'm a bit of a large fella, 110kg (240lb) riding an '08 E model, 3x3, rejet, standard 14:47 sprockets, 130/80-18 rear.

    hey guys i have recently purchased a jetting kit for my 2012 crf230f but i don't know if it is the right jetting kit for my bike. i have got a pro circuit exhaust system on it at the moment and a twin air air filter and i am wanting to take the top restrictor off the air box but i read that i would burn the motor out if i did not rejet the carb. i got a 132 main jet (99113-GHB1320) and a Full Power Needle (16012-KPS-921) and a stock pilot jet. will this work? thanks!!   10. So I might take the opportunity to PCS to Australia to do some solar observing, its located near Exmouth and wanted to know is there a riding scene? I heard there is a track nearby? Is riding pretty much free riding as long as its not private property? Sorry guy from the states and one that is heavily regulated. Would be bringing a YZ125 and YZ250 with me. HI all happy new year first off i have been tasked with an amazing job , i am a civil engineer and i have been ask to design a motocross track . my concerns are guidelines for jumps, - is there a safety factor for the angle to the hight ratio? also the best ratio of soils to have great traction, drainage and durability. is river silt a good contender for this.

  14. I have recently bought a KX500 for ~$300 AUD and it wasn't in the best condition, but its a good project... I've been having trouble finding Specific parts online... Do You guys have any ideas or tip where to find parts and tips on the bike its self and rebuilding it? I've got new radiators and hoses but there are MANY parts needed to finish this rebuild... PS. I bought it off i guy that's started a rebuild but did not finish it... he rebuild the clutch and added new handle bars and that's about it

  18. Have ridden road bikes for awhile, but first time on the dirt. It seems that, in Queensland at least, you must be licensed and bike registered to ride on any state forest trail. Requiring a motorcycle license is a good idea, plus basic stuff like brake light, indicators etc, but having to pay full rego seems pretty unreasonable when I have no intention of using the bike on normal roads. Can someone explain the reason why full rego is required for dirt bikes on state forest trails? The reasons I can see include: insurance: if it were about insurance, then I would expect any trail user to need insurance e.g. mountain bike riders etc but that is not the case road maintenance cost: ok, fair enough, but why charge full rego fee? How serious is enforcement of this rule? Does anyone have first-hand experience of being fined for rego-related issues in a state forest?
  19. Hi, my wife and I are making plans to move to Australia next year. We haven't decided where to move yet as that will depend on me finding work but the most likely areas are Melbourne, Adelaide, Brisbane, Sydney, or Perth. I currently have a 2004 Yamaha WR250F that has been made street legal here in the US. I have been doing a little research and it's not very clear to me what it will take for me to get my bike properly registered in the merry old land of Oz. Also, do I need to buy a new helmet? The helmet I currently have is DOT and ECE certified but I just looked at the Victoria Road Safety website and they listed 4 different certifications that are JAS-ANZ approved. Can I only buy these sort of helmets in Australia or New Zealand? Or can I buy them in the US too as things are much cheaper here. Do I need to install a catch can and route my carb tubes into it? Also, is Sea Foam gasoline treatment available in Australia? I love this stuff and so does my bike. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  20. Hey all! I'm new to the thumper world and specifically the KLX300 having just got one a few weeks ago. I've been struggling to kick it and start it in general, and finally a couple weeks ago the Idler gear suffered a catastrophic failure, leaving shards of metal all in my engine. After dismantling the engine and fishing out all the metal bits with a magnetic tool, flushing the engine out with petrol, 4 oil changes and new parts, the KLX is back in running order! That is until I was trying to start it the other day, hydro-locked the cylinder and basically destroyed my ankle when the kick-starter stopped halfway down the stroke! So now I'm out of action for a couple of weeks and have been doing some reading, I am very keen to do the ACR Mod to avoid issues again! I would love it if either someone has a pressing fixture they can lend me, or I can send my Exhaust cam to someone and have them re-press the KACR for me. I've done top-end before so this is nothing new to me, just this ACR Mechanism and re-pressing it is. I am located in QLD, Australia.
