My brand new 2010 CRF450R. Thing barks like an animal. Went for a ride in the forest and it just powers through anything.
  3. 2008 crf450r- So here’s the deal. I’ve always run 13/48 gearing with the stock chain length of 114 links. Broke a chain on worn sprockets on a local ride, so In a pinch, I bought a 14/51 renthal sprocket set with new EK Gold O-ring chain. Knowing that the gear ratio is near identical between 13/48 & 14/51 (With the only difference being a longer chain) I assumed it would be a perfect fit. Since I had a fairly worn tire at the time, the setup worked out perfect with the axle blocks and adjusters slammed all the way forward. This wasn’t ideal, but I figured the sprockets and chain would wear, leaving me centered in the adjustments by the time I installed a new tire. Fast forward to now, I just installed a new 120/80/19 rear tire (same as before) and am having a major tire rub issue on the mud flap being that it is a new tire and much taller knobs (It is unrideable) With this chain Length and sprocket size combo, I had no choice but to run it short before, because if I had left it a proper link longer I was already at the extreme other end of the axle adjusted all the way out to its limits. With this 14/51 gearing theres is no happy medium in the adjustment range. It’s always too slammed or too extended on the swing arm. As I see it, my only options are to drop down a tooth in the rear ( if that’s not enough maybe two?) but I’m worried I may encounter a similar problem. Adding another masterlink is not an Option, but could be and I understand half links are a big Nono. I may just ditch this nearly new chain and sprocket combo and revert back to the tried and true 13/48 for what used to be an ideal adjustment range. Has anyone else had this problem running 14/51 gearing? And what have you done to solve this problem? is there an ideal gear ratio and chain length as to not run into this problem ever again? Im hoping I can find a setup that leaves me plenty of room for dirt and paddle tires so I can always swap without worrying about gear ratios and clearance issues. I’ll try to add pictures this evening if that helps at all.

  5. Hey everybody I'm new to the forum and was wondering if anybody can help me with a question I have about axle adjuster blocks. I recently picked up a 2000 yz125 that needed some work and I got right on it! However when reinstalling the rear wheel I realized the brake side axle block does not sit flush with the swing arm. The taper of the axel is preventing the block from doing that. So my question is, are the adjuster blocks supposed to have different diameter holes? Or did the guy I got this bike from just throw the rear end together go bring me the bike? Thanks!
