  5. So while building my XR440R (shared engine/clutch oil) for racing hare scrambles I was poking around to see what aftermarket clutches are still available. I called Hinson and spoke to one of their reps about their clutch products and he told me that they only use organic disc material, and warned me to avoid Kevlar and other "harsh" fiber discs on the market because of accelerated wear to engine components as those fibers circulate in the engine. Sounded reasonable, so I called my Sponsoring Honda dealer and asked for a Hinson Clutch set. He followed up with me later and said his distributors do carry Hinson but not the clutch parts for my XR400 and XR250. He could get me Barnett though, so I said go ahead. The Barnett clutch discs I received are Kevlar infused discs, and nowe I am wondering if that is a good or bad thing. I have never run aftermarket clutches, just stock Honda. Another thing the Hinson guy told me was that they recommend Maxima Premium 4 conventional oil, that other oils produced more slippage in their research with a pro motocross team. I ran Motul 20-50 Full synthetic in my XR250 for one oil change and the stock disc were slipping, I am fairly certain after about two or three hours of hard riding. So now I am running Honda Pro 4 conventional. I always ran Rotella in my XR650L but I hear that oil is about to be re-speced by the API or something (all diesel oils.) I just want maximum hookup and best engine protection at the same time. Please share you real life experiences if you have any that can help my see through all the hearsay.
