  1. Hi, guys so I did a complete rebuild on my cr 125, 2002 and after approximately one hour of running it blew up due to detonation. I just wanted to know your thoughts on why this actually happened. The cylinder had already a cast iron sleeve so I just decided to overbore it to accommodate a 55.5mm piston, had cylinder head re surfaced so that previous detonation marks would disappear maintaining the stock compression. Now I think the issue occured when I ordered the new piston the head gasket included was too small in the sense that there is almost a 2mm difference between it's diameter and the cavity in the cylinder head. Any help would be appreciated cheers. I'll leave some photos below.
  2. I had fun building up a couple CR250R 2-strokes. Ken Roczen is hero, so these were a tribute. Also I thought it would be cool to mimic the look of the CRF450RWE. I'm adding black triple clamps and bars and a "Factory Racing clutch cover to the red 2004. The black 2002 is all stock just about everywhere and was a barn find. It need a new pipe. I know some don't care for the black bike. I'm planning to do another CR250R and also a CR125R in a similar style. Any suggestions? Maybe blue with white/red? Red with black? Black with flo yellow?
  3. Here's the journal of my big CR. I also own a 1983 CR480, which is a nice bike, but the 1989 version of Honda's big-boy is a different breed of cat. The '89 is water cooled, has upside down forks, disco break-o, and a more immediate power delivery. The 480 barks. The 500 snorts. They both turn quick lap times. Here's a shot of the scoot before I bought it. A buddy of mine, Big Jim, was clearing out his garage. I bought three bikes from him with "some assembly required".
  4. Need help with my 03 Honda cr 250r... The bike takes a while to idle down to normal after letting go of the throttle, especially after riding with WOT and I press the clutch the rpms don't seem to go down until I come to a complete stop which seem really weird to me. Otherwise the bike runs great and the rpms drops normally when reving at idle. I have a FMF pipe and vforce 3 reeds. Main jet is 400 and the pilot jet is 40. What do you guys think could be the issue? I have tried adjusting the airscrew, cleaning the carb, checking float level, changing throttle cable, changing the sparkplug which had a good colour, it did not look like it was running too lean. So now I don't know what I should be looking at next. Maby a airleak? crankseals? exhaust gasket? what do you guys think?
  5. Greetings, all! I’ve been attempting to find some for-sure information for quite some time now, but it’s time to let the internet chime in! In my possession is a ‘97 CR 125. She’s in clapped condition but rideable, however, that’s not up to par with the plans for the year. I’m in need of some notes on what is or is not compatible in terms of “direct fit” or “some modifications required”, in regards of items readily available for newer (read: aluminum framed) bikes. Delving right in- wheels, I’ve my eye on a set of something gold with red hubs, but, to no surprise, I’ve come up with nothing readily available through my normal sources. Newer wheels are readily attainable. I’ve heard tales of swapping wheel bearings and using stock sizes in newer wheels, but nothing solid enough to throw the money as of yet. Next on the docket, foot pegs- there are some out there for cheap, but the best ones are for newer models. All insight is appreciated. Newer triple clamps, suspension has crossed my mind, though no plans as of yet, but information on these things would be nice, as it is a public forum, and someone, somewhere, some time from now, wants to know Above all else, if you know some compatibility, even random things, brake parts, sprockets, brake levers (actually, that would be great to know), shifters (that, too, is something I’d personally like information on), throttle tubes (another thing I need to find), or any other piece of interchangeable item, under the canopy or heaven, would be appreciated by all, I’m sure. Thank you for any input you may have on the subject. (attached is a picture of some of my stable, the ever-so-cleverly identified #69 is the bike in question.)
  6. I was wondering wether or not to put a magura hydraulic clutch on my 2001 CR125 that i bought from a collector that has less then 5 hours on it Is the hydraulic clutch a big UPGRADE?
  7. Hello everyone, I am deciding between keeping my Honda CR85 or getting a newer CRF150RB. I heard the Crf150rb is a lot faster than the CR85, is this true? I am also deciding getting a 150RB because I am not sure if I am too tall for the 85. The 85 is a small wheel and I am about 5'8 to 5'9. And are the 150RB's pretty reliable/fast race bikes from personal experience? Or should I just forget the idea of going with the 150rb and keep my 85? Thanks so much for the help I really appreciate it.
  8. Hey Guys, (READ EDIT) I made a post on this before and I had thought I figured it out but.. I didn't. So, I have a 2003 cr250 and it has a keihin Pwk 38mm AS (I think), vforce 3 reeds and cage, a stock fatty, and a powercore 2,the guy I got it off of said it had a wiesco top but I have never really look at the piston tho. My problem is I think the carb may be fake, because I got the carb on the bike when I got it and I cant seem to make it have power with that carb. I have the carb jetted with a 45 pilot 175 main and clip position 3, I believe the slide is a #7 but im not sure and i dont really think that matters tho. I cant really get it to have all its power and when you hit the throttle at first it wont rev but when you let off and go back on it will(in neutral). The carb I got with it has a cereal # but it is lazered on not stamped, Im not sure if that means anything, and the slide looks real because it has a keihin mark but when I put the carb off my brothers 95 cr250 it runs great, the 95 carb has a 55 pilot ,clip 3 ,185 main but if i jet my carb like that the bike runs like shit. with the 95 carb it has a lot more power and sometimes it wont rev but I think I could fine tune that. It could be my Rc valve but im not sure today I may either put a extra carb off a 95 cr i have lying around and try and jet it real good ,or the carb off my 97 rm250 which looks pretty much the same as my carb got with my cr just a little older, and the cereal # is stamped in. I put the video below that I used to tune my rc valve. and I will get pics later of my carb. . If you guys know anything any help would be appreciated. Thanks, (EDIT)I did aa little more testing and adjusted my Rc valve real good and have concluded it to carb and i think my 38 as is real but cand quite work out jetting or clip position and fuel air screw any help im at about 1500ft above sea.
  9. Will CRF150RB wheels/tires fit a 2006 CR85RB?
  10. I just replaced my first rear tire ever on my Cr125(hell of a fight lol) Before I removed the wheel I counted the threads on the chain adjuster (chain was very loose)...I got 8 threads on one side about 7 on the other. While reinstalling wheel i set the chain to where i felt it was supposed to be and brought the chain tensioners back as even as I could....now I have about 10 exposed threads on one side and 11 on the other,looks straight spins pretty freely. Everything I read said adjusters MUST be equal to prevent sprocket wear...after that I took a stick rule set it square and measured from the axle block to the rear of the swimgarm on each side. The measurements are very close,within about 1/32 of one another. Is this an acceptable way of making sure my wheel is on straight? Again my adjustment bolts are about 1 to 1.5 threads different. The Mark's on the axle blocks are a little off from side to side but it looks square,and measures square to back of swingarm. Any suggestions? TIA
  11. At the moment I’m in an 85 big wheel and can easily flat foot both feet. I would prefer a 125 but not many are available, whereas 250F’s on the other side are looking closer to my price/availability range than 125s. My only hold back in a 250 is would it be too heavy? I weigh approx 130 lbs (60kgs) and am around 5’9. Would I also be better if adjusting the shock and forks on my 85 and stick with that for longer. Any help would be appreciated
