  1. Hey everybody I was just curious after doing some reading about the atac system in my bike I was wondering about a possible delete. From what I’ve read on other forums the atac system delete is doable, but I didn’t know how I should go about it. Any input could help thanks.
  2. Hi everyone, hope you are safe from the virus these days. I just wanted to post some questions regarding my current build (just after the yamaha yz 250 proyect I posted here and I received tons of feedback and advice ) since i had a registered honda cr 125 frame around my garage, I decided to buy a cr 125 to build and enduro bike ) For that purpose, I decided to take a step further and since I needed to rebuild the whole engine, I went ahead and buy a 6 speed tranny in really nice condition, up to here everything fine, but I'm encountering an issue now that I've just installed the clutch. The problem is the following, whenever I action the clutch, doesnt matter being in neutral or in any gear the smooth feeling of the pinions disappear and it feels some kind of drag/retention. I believe this comes from the preassure plate, that forces the secondary gear shaft outside making the gears to spin less smoothly , this issue doesnt feel whenever I take the bike of the stand and move it around but indeed whenever you move the wheel with the bike in the stand. Im currently using the original 03 clutch basket, clutch hub + preassure plates and I'm wondering if swithching to an older 90-99 cluth system this could improve it. Since I need to replace the whole system bcause the clutch basket has some decent marks Does anyone who has done the 6 speed swap has encountered the same issues? And to open the post I attach some pictures and advances in the project since we are confined during this virus crisis ( in the engine photos de last pinion is in reverse order, I changed it just before closing it as it appears in the original 96 owners manual) Thanks in advance and hope you can assess me on this one!
  3. I have just bought and rebuilt an 89 cr125 and was wondering if anyone with the same bike knew if any quirks specific to that model year?
  4. 87 cr 125 no spark below 70 degrees friend dropped off bike no spark they replaced coil no spark i measured resistance on stator it did not meet specs. i ordered replacement coils checked them with meter same resistance soldered them in it sparks . put plug back in it fired right up started bike every day for week took back to parker arizona now there is no spark what the heck took it back home . aweek later start meesing with connectors find a littel losse on new coil great fires right up two hours later try again no spark i start thinking what is changing it is the air temperature to test this it was 60 degrees outside i used electric dril to turn stator to test output voltage and pulse signal everything is good. now as i am turning the flywheel i use a hairdryer to heat cdi it starts sparking i put in plug it fires right up. i decide it is the cdi i order one off ebay i get and it dose not appear to work i order another one it is cold outside again and no spark get the hairdryer out heat it and it runs what the heck fairweather honda thanks any suggestion wohara
  5. I bought a clean 89' CR125 and realized it had low compression while looking it over. Brought it home and cylinder had 120psi. So, I pull the cylinder off to learn it has been sleeved and bored to 56mm and has scoring marks in the cylinder. Instead of working with this cylinder I decided on trying to find another cylinder. After a couple of weeks I found a NOS and figured it was about the same price if I bought a used one and had it re-plated nikasil. My question is: My NOS is a "B" cylinder, but what other years are piston's compatible with 89'? I found a 90' OEM "B" piston with a different part number but aftermarket companies list one part number for 89-90. Can I use an "A" piston in a new "B" cylinder. I assume the "B" might be slightly larger
  6. Technically it passes the no more than 1psi in 5 minutes time test. I got tiny leaks on the right and left side of the base gasket though. I'm prepared to redo the base gasket. The only thing making me hesitate and ask a question about it is that I got some Honda Bond on parts of the base gasket and it's gonna take a good deal of work to get both surfaces back to spotless. I'm thinking both the head gasket and base gasket are prob the two main things that should be totally air tight. But idk.
  7. Hi My son has a 02 cr125. The carburetor insulator has a crack in it. The PN is 16221-KZ4-L20. I cannot for the life of me find a replacement (it’s discontinued) part or a good way to fix it. Does anyone know of a different year that can be used or a good way to repair it? PLEASE HELP

  9. The 94' CR 125 has some hard starting at cold issues. After I get it started and warmed up you can cut it off and it'll start right back up with 1-3 kicks no problem. Starting from cold is a different issue. It can take anywhere from 20-30 kicks to get it started from dead cold. I took out the choke mechanism from the carb and blasted out the seat and pintle valve needle with carb cleaner. Then I tested the compression and the results were 180psi. Which from what I'v read is pretty good. The compression oughtta be good, it's got a brand new replated cylinder and top end with only two hours on it. Some say 150psi is adequate for proper vacuum. So then I tested the color of the spark in a dark room and the spark looks totaly yellow to me. People say it should be blue, and blue is hotter. This is a 27 year old bike with an original stator, rotor, cdi, and coil. I'm thinking that might be a problem. So I found this kit at RegulatorRectifier.com Has anyone ever replaced the rotor on a 94' CR 125 with an after market one before? And does anyone know of a better kit than this one? The only thing I question about this kit is that it says that the rotor does not use a key for the crank shaft. I E Mailed the people and ask them what keeps the rotor in position if the rotor is not kept in place with a woodruff key and the person said just the the crank nut pressure. I E Mailed them back and then asked them how you get the rotor into exact TDC and keep it exactly there while you tighten the crank nut down but they have yet to reply to me. The only thing I'm guessing is that you get the rotor as close to TDC as possible then use a timing light to get it on the mark with the stator? I don't really have full confidence in this kit knowing the rotor is not kept in place with a key. I'm not sure how I"m gonna get the timing exactly right if I get this kit.
  10. Hello my cr125 2002 recently bought started her yesterday with kickstart no problem was checking see was everything ok be4 I went out on it as I was going out 4 a few hours 2day. Couldn't kick start so i jumped her started no problem went about 5 mins driving well and stopped 2 see if she would start after getting warm no good there was no tension on da kickstart tried 2 jump her no good thinking she needs a rebuild??
  11. I just got a Honda cr125r and it doesn't get any spark. I have replaced the stator and both stators I have put in it have no ohms reading on one side. It is supposed to have 20-140 ohms on one side and thats good but the other side has no reading when it is supposed to have 180-280 ohms. Any help would be appreciated!
  12. Hey guys, I've been having clutch drag on my cr125 for a while now. It's decently bad, when I put it in gear and disengage the clutch and kick it, the bike will jump forward. It is very hard to engage it without rolling first and not stalling the bike. I have adjusted the slack in the lever to the manual spec, and I have also tightened it to the point where I can't tighten it any more and it still won't disengage. I've replaced the hub, basket, friction plates, fiber plates, lifter, rod, cable, pressure plate, and springs (all OEM) and no difference. The one thing I haven't changed in it is the type of gear oil used. I use supertech ATF type F, I've heard good results from people using this, but I think it's making my clutch not want to disengage. When I take the springs out, all I have to do is lightly touch the pressure plate to the fiber plate and it will lock it up pretty good. I ordered some pro HP transmission oil in the hopes to remedy this. Is there a way I can get the ATF off of the plates before I put the new oil in? I had them soaking in ATF for about 3 weeks prior to installing them. Or should I just run it until it's hot, drain the ATF, and put the new oil in?
  13. Bought the bike 3 years ago just to ride around the woods and time has come for a new piston, but the frame number looks odd and I can’t year it properly to get the right piston kit. To me it’s a 2007 but was told it’s a 2002. HELP
  14. Hello all. Looking for some advice on the head for my CR125. I just got the bike and do not know any of the history and stupidly I took it for a short ride. Well I trashed the piston and head. Luckily the cylinder is still go. It already has a Wiseco piston in it. So here is my question. Looks as if the head that was on the bike was shaved at one point. When I purchased the bike it came with 2 other stock looking heads. I will be just using the bike to follow my 13 year old around on his 85 and mostly trail ride. Would you put on one of the stock heads or have one shaved and put it on? Just not sure which way to go. Please see the attached pictures of what I have. Thanks again, Jason

Picked this cr 125 up a few weeks ago and changed the right side crank seal, clean out exhaust, repacked the silencer and finally got to has a ride this morning to test it out and it goes quite good. So I have started on the stripping down ready to clean up and rebuild this back into a nice clean factory looking bike again. Cheers Steve.

  17. In our vintage racing series any bike up to model year 99 is legal for evolution class. I'm currently racing my 87 cr125 and giving up a big margin to the 90's bikes of all makes. What does it take to make a gen 1 aluminum frame bike, say a 99 cr125, best in class?
  18. ***I originally posted this in the yamaha 2 strokes to see what peoples opinions were about the two bikes, I got a lot of people telling me the yamaha is better, which i'm leaning towards the blue, but i just want another opinion from you guys on the red side :)*** i also had someone tell me the cr 125 was a 93 not a 96, wondering if anyone has any info on that, thanks. Hey im looking at a yz 125 near me for 1400 OBO, I talked to the guy and he seems like a nice guy and seems to be flexible on the bike. It does not seem like the bike is meticulously maintained but he also claimed to not ride it a lot, blah blah blah heres some pics. Tires look ok,plastics are claimed to be brand new, carb was just rebuilt, he has a clip of it running and idiling, smokes like a normal two stroke, sounds healthy, the only issue is the god awful periodblood red frame, let me know what you think about the bike, im sure I can talk him down a little bit but I want some input. Just found this 96 CR 125 nearby as im posting this, seems like a nice bike, he has it posted for 1200. Rear tire looks pretty bad, desperate need of a cleaning, spooge on the bottom of the muffler? Im really just looking for a bike thats reliable, i got a 99 cr 125 thats just been nothing but issues so Im gonna get a new bike to ride while I wrench on that one, multitasking. Anywheres heres some pics of the bike: 1996 cr 125: $1200 1999 yz 125: 1400obo (could probably talk down a bit) I dont mind maintainence, I just want something that will last a while and have plenty of power 🙂 Thanks - jake

So I have a 1997 cr125 and tuned up the carburetor and it runs great and Idols perfect and I was riding it after I tuned the carb and when I was on it high rpm it ran perfect not a single problem but if I did a lap putting on it and tried to get on it after it would bog and bog but once I started to go in high rpms again it ran strong and good
  20. Just rebuilt my 07 CR125R, and I’m getting a compression of 122psi hot with the throttle open. It might be my gauge but I’ve done research and they say the INNOVA compression tester is good. I did tighten it down the connector a bit more and it gave me an extra 5 psi. My ring gap was .012 (Wiseco said it should be around .009 and Honda said .015 so I went in between). Also when I drilled my exhaust bridge lube holes on the piston they were a bit off, nothing crazy but they weren’t perfectly straight. What you guys think the problem may be or you think it’s fine?
  21. Hello, I want to swap my cr 125 stock suspension to the suspension from a crf 250 from 2010. Anybody here with some information if this would be a good choice and if it will fit? Also, I would change the standard triple clamps to x-trig rocs. Any advice would be great.

  23. I have a 01 cr125 that was fully rebuilt top and bottom end. Starts first kick no problem and a few times after that too, but when warm it will not kick over at all. Can a fouled spark plug and dirty air filter do this. Could it be something with the carb?
  24. Does anyone have experience with these products? They offer a digital and an analog version, which one would be suitable for an 81 cr125?
  25. Hi, I recently bought a 98 cr125. It makes an odd tinny slapping noise almost like a Kickstarter hitting the pipe. It is most noticeable at low rpm/idle. It has been doing this since the day I got it. I never thought anything of it because I thought that 2 strokes were supposed to sound tinny. I will be doing a top end on the bike soon because the previous owner had a cheap Namura piston in it and I want to through a stocker in. If anyone knows what this is let me know. I can submit a video of it sometime soon.
