  1. Hey guys just got my suspension back from a local shop. They put .44kg fork springs and a 4.8kg shock spring. is this a good setup, I am 27 160 lbs desert/trail riding(SoCal high desert), intermediate with a 3.7 gallon gas tank. thanks
  2. Hey guys, I'm looking to get some new controls on my 89' CR250R (brake lever, clutch lever, and rear brake pedal). Due to the fact that OEM parts are no longer available (unless you find some old rusted parts on eBay) I was wondering if anyone has redone this model year with currently available hardware. Trying to find if some modern controls will fit and work easy with this bike. Thanks!
  3. Hey guys. I’m in the middle of a build right now and am looking for some information on wheel compatibility. I picked up a 07 cr250 frame and am putting a 2000 motor in her. I’m using 2008 crf250r front forks, triples, rear shock, and swingarm. My question is, what year crf450 wheels can I use? I can get a set of 2013 crf450 wheels and tires for a slamming deal but I know there was an offset change at some point. Any help is appreciated. Thanks y’all.
  4. Hey Guys and Girls. My 2002 CR250 has snapped the front cable for the RC Valve. I am in Zimbabwe so parts take anything from 2 weeks to a month to get here so at first I tried to have the cable repaired by a local company. I installed the cable but as soon as I started the bike the lug of the cable pulled straight off. I have tried started the bike without any cables attached and the servo rotates about 1/3 turn clockwise on start up which is what snapped the refurbished cable. Is this normal? I have held the servo with a pair of pliers and then tried starting the bike and I am able to hold the servo still for start up. I am hoping that the refurbished cable is just not strong enough to hold the servo from moving on startup. I have now ordered a genuine cable which will be here in a couple of weeks or so, but obviously I don't want to fit this one if the servo is faulty and could end up snapping the new genuine cable. I have attached pictures of the servo, I am fitting the cables to the bike when the cables lugs are both at the 12.00 o'clock position on the servo, is this correct? So yeh, basically if anyone is able to confirm that the servo is supposed to move clockwise on startup with no cables attached. Many thanks for any help.

  6. Hey guys, Crankcase Oil Leaking From the Exhaust Port 2002 CR250R I think it’s coming into the combustion chamber via the right side crank seal. I’m going to swap out the crank shaft seal. But question is this. Beneath the Prime drive gear is the drive gear collar. Is there a seal that resides inside this collar?
  7. I’m wondering if the CRF150RB (16 inch rear) will fit on the CR250 swingarm. I’m not worried about if I should since the CR250 swingarm will be on a different bike. I’m not sure if things like the axles and bearings are the same so any info on that would help.
  8. What would the mix ratio be for my 1982 honda cr250r just got it running and wanna ride
  9. Want to put the bottom end into the bare frame so I can put the top end on and start getting the engine back together. The Manual says to start with the swing arm bolt, but I am waiting on bearings for the swing arm. Can I put the engine in with just the bottom and front bolts (loose) so I can continue with the top end engine build and install the swing arm when all parts arrive. Doesn't seem like it would matter, but I have never put one of these back together.

  12. Hi guys I’m hoping you can help. I have a 1996 cr250 which has a steel liner fitted to the cylinder. I am looking for another cylinder used or new with the nikosil plate as it should be from stock. From what I can gather the 1996 cylinder seems to be the one to have porting wise so would prefer to stick with the 96. Does anyone have a cylinder or know where I can get a cylinder as I can not find anywhere that still has one. I am based in the UK so would need worldwide shipping. thanks in advance. Ben
  13. Anyone know any slick tips or ways to rebuild the servo motor for a 2002 CR250? Ive seen used internal electronic components on the web but wonder if it’s throwing good money away ($40)! Mine still works but don’t like the thought of missing out on riding if it goes out. Always look towards doing PMs instead of repairs? whats everyone do when they go out?

  15. Quick question for you guys, is there any reason why my gear oil would be think and grey after 2 or 3 rides? I changed the water pump seals and even got a new side case from honda because mine was corroded. I suspected water was getting into the oil... but now that isnt possible and the issue persists... What else could cause this in a 2 stroke? Could it just be clutch milkshake? 🤣 Not a big issue because I change the gear oil often, I'm just curious since every other two stroke I've seen the oil comes out clean even after a year or two.
  16. I have an oddball question. I replaced my bars and installed a new OE throttle cable. Everything works as it should, but when I quick release the throttle the slide bangs down real hard. Maybe I've just never really noticed before now. I'm sure I'm overthinking it, but with contact like that something has to give.
  17. Doing a full bottom end on my dad's 2001 CR250. I'm at a loss with which crank to go with. - I have the money to go OEM but the OEM was a tin covered crank, and a few shops suggested going with newer cranks. - I could go Hot Rods, but they're tin covered. From browsing forums, everyone seems to prefer Hot Rods to Wiseco, but they're not without their share of failures. - I've had an old Wiseco with tin. It blew up. I have a new Wiseco that's solid with stuffers, it's served me well. I called the Wiseco rep and he said they make the 2001 solid with stuffers. I'm going with Wiseco top end. This is the current impasse for this build. I'm going full OEM with the bearings, because no one makes transmission bearings and I might as well for the main and seals. Any thoughts on where I should go with this or firsthand experience would be hugely appreciated. I just want to put the best in the bike. Thanks! Also, if anyone is selling an 18 inch wheel/rim for 2001 CR250, let me know! Thank you.
  18. I cannot find a full plastics kit for less than 200 after shipping on eBay and if I find individual parts it’s around 200 also does anybody know where I can find a fully red plastics kit for a 93 cr250
  19. Hey guys, I have a really big decision to make and could use a second opinion. I am planning on buying a dirtbike in the next week and can’t decide which one to buy. The CR250 is a 06 that’s absolutely mint. It has had only had one owner and is completely stock except for a pro circuit pipe/silencer and rear sprocket. It even has the stock plastics that don’t have a single scratch on them. The bike is priced at $3700 and has been very well taken care of. On the other hand I’ve found a 2018 yz250 listed at $4000 that has had two owners and is in a little rough shape. The aftermarket fmf exhaust is a pretty beat up along with the silencer and has Boyesen clutch covers along with pro taper handle bars. No internal engine work and it’s been raced before. I have heard many positive/negative things about both bikes and know plenty about them and their pro’s and con’s, especially the CR. Are the new YZ’s really all that much better than the late model CR’s? I know this is a Honda 2 stroke forum and opinions will be biased but I might put this in the Yamaha forum as well. (I am leaning more towards the Honda anyway..) What should I do? Which bike should I get? I’ll rarely ride trails with some friends but mostly going out the to the track and even might race it some next summer. I’m 5’9 and 160 pounds and have had plenty experience with bikes. I sold my yz125 last summer and am just looking to get back into my old hobby as I’m studying at the university. Any replies would be appreciated, thanks.
  20. So I am going to be rebuilding my shock on my 2004 Cr250. The back is not raced and is ridden track and trails. What weight for the oil would be better, 5 or 7?
  21. Hi I am trying to restore a 96 cr250 my question is is there any other cr or crf models I can use the oem brake hoses from as the 96 hoses are obsolete thT somebody has tried thanks in advance
  22. 97 CR250. Looking for a lighting stater preferably An E-Line Baja Design. They made a lot of power and I have a BaJA Design headlight that’s an HID that’s draws a lot to run it. So any help would be great thank you. I might have to come up with something else maybe find a LED replacement something I could mount on the bike that wouldn’t make it look hideous. I’m going to be using the bike in the woods and trails. Not looking to ride down the road and use it as my daily commuter or anything. Just want something that’s going to put out power not a Rickies theater of 50 W . As always thank you for any help or suggestions would rather not put a battery in the air box or anything like that just want to find a stater that puts out more power than 50 W. If I recall correctly the light that I have from Baja says it requires 100W it’s brand new sitting here collecting dust. I believe it’s called a Diablo it’s bright as can be.   23. Honest question. Went to replace front brake pads and this piece was missing. Have completed several rides without it. Unless maybe it fell out? I ordered it and its on its way but want to ride before it gets here.
  24. Anyone know what the clutch cover colour code is for a 2002 CR250R ? Or is there a Paint Name for it ? Maybe a Cerakote Colour ?? Sorry only had a picture of the LH Side but I might get the Stator cover painted to match the clutch cover ?!?!
