  1. Received this via email... but I can neither confirm nor deny it's validity. Anyone have any additional info on this or seen any signs of malicious activity? Ride aware!
  2. I know we have so far had a dismal amount of snow overall in the city. Up my way by the Berthoud track we have around 6". Does anyone know what the trails are looking like down Rampart way? I just have my Raptor all dialed in and I want to play. Planning ahead here since it will be next Sunday when we head down. I will be asking later in the week as well and I will have my son call up to his mother, who lives up there and ask, so I will even post what I find out on that perspective.
  3. Hey guys, Me and a buddy are headed to Taylor Park the first week of September to do some trail riding all that week. We're staying at the cabins there at the reservoir. Wanted to see if anyone else would be there that either wants to tag along with us or would let us tag along with you. My buddy has been going up there with a big group from Oklahoma for a long time but hasn't been in years and I have never been to this area of the Gunnison National Forest. Also, if none of you guys will be in the area, send along any recommendations for trails that we should hit or any we should stay away from. Thanks ahead of time! Jonathan
  4. I wanted to update you on the status of the Rico West Dolores Roads and Trails Project. A draft decision was expected in January, but the public comment period revealed the Forest Service did not specifically state in the plan that a decision will also be made on the minimum road system for the Rico West Dolores project area. Because of the omission, the Dolores District will issue a Supplement to the Draft Environmental Impact Statement in January with the missing information, and initiate another 45-day public comment period. The minimum road system standard is described as the fewest number of roads needed to manage the forest for all the different purposes. The minimum road system decision is a requirement of the Travel Management Rule. Decisions on the minimum road system will be made when the scope and scale of the particular project lend to making a decision on this component of the Rule. The Rico West Dolores project meets this criteria. The Supplement will explain that once an alternative is selected, that will then become the minimum road system for the Rico West Dolores area. This procedural error does not require any change to the five alternatives described in the first Draft EIS. Even though the five alternatives do not change, I have directed the interdisciplinary team to take this opportunity to improve the analysis of environmental and social effects. Unless you have comments specific to the minimum road system, a re-submittal of your original comments is not necessary. Look for media information, and another email, identifying when the Supplement to the Draft EIS will be released in January. Thank you for your continued participation in this project. 5. Had two left over after not needing the "extra" bike or the UTV on this year's trip. PM me for details. They expire March 31st of 2017.

  7. Not sure where yet, but the wife is mtn biking with her "girls" group so i'm not allowed to come with. I'm not a fast rider but can do alright. I don't really want to ride Rampart, I'd like to do some single track higher in the mountains if possible something within 2 hours of Lakewood. I don't mind rocks, but would really like to get on some single track. I'm on an 01 yz250.
  8. I have moved from Atlanta to the Denver area, I currently have a KTM300xc. I know given the change I will need to re-jet, add a sparky and the OHV sticker to be legal. The only current mods on the bike is a skid plate, and bark-busters. Is there anything I should add to the bike to make it more trail ready? Coming from the southeast the bike was ready to ride. Given the rocky nature to the terrain I am considering more protection and mods to ensure I do not get stranded on the trail. I am considering the following in no order: Tubless (Limits flats) Lectron Carb (solves jetting and better fuel range) Rear disc guard (dont want to bend it due to the rear bouncing around) Rad protection (dont want to bend them due to a tip over) Pipe Guard (just because of the rocks and it hangs low) Any other items to consider? I dont want to spend a fortune but I want the bike ready, and since I have time to work on it before Rampart is ready. Also looking for a group to ride with, I am a mature rider (45yrs) my goal in a ride is to have fun and make it home with my body and the bike in working condition. I am not racer fast but not so slow that riders need to wait on me. Thanks for the feedback
  9. I am heading to Grand Junction in the next few weeks and was curious what riding areas were open and were atv and dirt bike accessible. I am meeting some friends there most of which are new to dirt bikes and I don't want to scare them but also don't want to bore them with fire service roads. Any help is appreciated!
  10. How would you set up a DRZ400s for Colorado? I'm considering buying a DRZ but I'm worried that I won't be able to ride around town at 5000 feet elevation if my bike is set up for 8-12 thousand foot mountains. Is there a way around this? In other words, how would you jet a DRZ for 5,000-13,000 feet?
  11. I'm headed out to Crested Butte later this week. Hoping to catch a group riding Taylor Park or any trails in the area. Not the fastest 31 yr old rider, but I can keep up. Hanging out with my family most of the trip, but hoping to ride 2-3 days. I am on WR450F, no plates, but don't mind the occasional road that takes me to a trail. -Mike
  12. Attend these meetings. Motor vehicle use maps to be changed. Many areas affected including 717 and Rampart Range. See link for meeting dates http://cohvco.clubexpress.com/content.aspx?page_id=722&club_id=95320&emtid=52071316312&mtid=140111880908&ht=0
  13. Meetings in Salida and Colorado Springs. San Isabel and Pike National Forest If you cant attend, send letters. 717 and Rampart Range areas included http://cohvco.clubexpress.com/content.aspx?page_id=722&club_id=95320&emtid=52071316312&mtid=140111880908&ht=0
  14. Am I stuck using the MVUM maps or is there a more user friendly map similar to the one for 717? I want to go try out the singletrack at rampart this weekend. And where can I plan on doing some dispersed camping up there to avoid the masses? Thanks
  15. Hi i am new to the site I joined to try to find riders to ride with around me. If you live around Durango Colorado and would like to go riding email me getwired2day_julien@aol.com.
  16. I'm thinkin of going up tomorrow AM for a run down 677. Nothing hard (I don't think...never ran 677), but a decent pace to keep the air flowing. Thinking about being on the bike by about 9 starting at the 788 trail head over on the east side, cutting through the middle over to 674 and take it to 677 then 650 back north. Plated might be nice on the return up Rampart Range Road if its hot and no desire for more trails. Lunch along the trail somewhere. PM me if you're interested. PS...this isn't intended to be a beginner paced ride...not race paced either, but decent. Dmac
  17. Will be staying at Beaver Run the 7th - 9th and want to check out some single track (preferably) in the area before we head over to Taylor for the remainder of the following week. I thought I would query here first before calling the Breck KTM shop. Anyone up for guiding or willing to share suggested trails? Been told there is a trail head 5 miles from Beaver Run. Two of three bikes are plated so contemplating not taking trailer to trail head but don't know how bike friendly Breck is? Thanks in advance!
  18. I just wanted to get the word out for our club's 2016 fundraising event - The Rocky Mountain Super Enduro, coming up on June 25th. http://www.rockymountainsuperenduro.com Save $10 on rider registration by pre-registering via the website before Saturday the 25th. We are also offering a spectator Military discount at the gate - our way of saying "Thank you" for those who serve. We are also looking for volunteers to help this Saturday (6/18) for track and grounds prep. Shoot me a PM if you are interested and I'll get you the details. I'll probably be working the gates again, so stop by and say 'Hi' on the 25th.
  19. Does anyone have any jetting specs for 2013 KTM 250 XC and 2015 YZ 250. Riding Crested Butte /Taylor park area in August. Usually ride below 1000/1500' Thanks in Advance, Shawn
  20. Ok, now that my kid has graduated and I can have a free moment....I want to get out and do some riding. Only thing is, the last time I rode the dirt in Colorado, I was a kid and confined to north Empire. So, is there any group rides for old slow guys this weekend close to Denver?
  21. Hey im newish to tge 4 corners area and need people to ride with. I dual spirt and trailride. Im in durango but dont mubd drivibg a bit to ride
  22. The Teller County Board of Commissioners has been working on a project to designate select segments of county roads as OHV routes and make those roads open to unlicensed OHVs which includes motorcycles. These are valuable connector routes which are described on pages 1-2 of the document in the link and you can kinda see them on the map on page 5. The comment period was recently extended to accommodate an anti-OHV contingent to solicit additional input. If you have not already done so, all OHV riders who favor legalizing these roads should promptly email your support for Ordinance #19 to ShawB@co.teller.co.us. or mail to Teller County Public Works, PO Box 805, Divide, CO 80814 ORDINANCE NO. 19 - AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING THE USE AND REGULATION OF OFF-HIGHWAY VEHICLES ON SPECIFIC SECTIONS OF COUNTY ROADS IN TELLER COUNTY FOR TRAIL CONNECTIVITY (http://www.co.teller.co.us/PublicWorks/Transportation/Ord 19 OHV Cnty Rds 10-13-16.pdf ) Let’s not allow a last minute effort by an anti-OHV group derail this worthy effort! Thanks!
  23. Here is a opportunity to change a life in a dramatic way. The goal for this first event is to raise $16,000. That will buy 1 track chair and a trailer. $16,000 is only 160 people donating $100 ea or 320 donationing $50ea Attached is the flyer and website information. There is some changes that have not been updated on the flyer. 1. Online raffle tickets will only cost $5, $10 on the day of the event. 2. A online donation of $20 or more will get you a hat. See attached 3. You do not need to be present to win the grand prize. But you will have to pay to have it shipped. 4. On the day of the event. A $20 dollar donation will get you a hat and 1 raffle ticket. If this goes as well as expected I will be doing another one in the southwest in November. Donations for the raffle are appreciated.
