    Colorado Rampart snow amount?

I know we have so far had a dismal amount of snow overall in the city. Up my way by the Berthoud track we have around 6". Does anyone know what the trails are looking like down Rampart way? I just have my Raptor all dialed in and I want to play. Planning ahead here since it will be next Sunday when we head down. I will be asking later in the week as well and I will have my son call up to his mother, who lives up there and ask, so I will even post what I find out on that perspective.
  3. Hey guys, Me and a buddy are headed to Taylor Park the first week of September to do some trail riding all that week. We're staying at the cabins there at the reservoir. Wanted to see if anyone else would be there that either wants to tag along with us or would let us tag along with you. My buddy has been going up there with a big group from Oklahoma for a long time but hasn't been in years and I have never been to this area of the Gunnison National Forest. Also, if none of you guys will be in the area, send along any recommendations for trails that we should hit or any we should stay away from. Thanks ahead of time! Jonathan
  4. Hi guys, First of all I am new here and very new to the dirt bike scene hence this last minute question. I own a 2011 YZ450F and I am going riding with some friends this weekend in Taylor park Colorado. My bike will be fine seeing as thought it has fuel injection. My other 2 friends, one has a 2006 KX250F and the other fried has a 2001 YZ250 2 stroke. We are all pretty new to this but do enjoy having some fun once in a while. So about a year ago I took the one friends yz250 with my other friends kx250F to Taylor park which altitude is about 7500 - 10000ft and the bikes ran like crap!. The 2 stroke ran better than the 4 stroke but both bogged and had almost no power at all. We are getting ready to again and I was honestly hoping someone could tell me what jets we would need for these two bikes at this altitude? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Motocross THUNDER VALLEY NATIONAL

My son and I are going to our first national race, Thunder valley round. Is it ok to bring a cooler with snacks and drinks?
  7. hello all, long time lurker first post. i bought a xt350 without a title for $300 from a buddy. when i checked out it started easily and ran fairly well. it has about 3500 miles on it and seems in pretty good shape once i got it warmed up i noticed the idle was turned way up and didn't run at high RPMs until i had taken it a a couple blocks. so heres my problem: i'll get it started and let it warm up. it will idle just fine and rev up perfectly. but after i go about a quarter mile once i let off the gas and put it in neutral it will die. even if i dump the clutch and try and let it start with the rolling power it will die on me. it takes about 10 minutes to get it started again and it will do the same thing. i just disassembled the carb and it looks fairly clean but i don't know the most about these carbs. any ideas? thanks, cal
  8. Use at your own risk. If you want the Excel to check my work or input your own values email me at Phoenix27101@gmail.com. There is a very real possibly that some calculations were done in error; no one has checked my work as of now. All numbers were based on calculated values not actual values. Nonetheless, numbers should be in the ballpark. Made this spreadsheet/ chart to correct coolant for altitude to assure the same boiling temperature as stock. I wanted to retain the same coolant/ specific heat, and boiling overflow to stay within heat specifications of the engine, not mask overheating with different chemicals. This is not to say that a lower coolant temperature wouldn't be a better solution, but distilled water + inhibitors boil too quickly at my altitude. I was also curious as to how the altitude affected radiator efficiency.
  9. PMI IS CLOSED TO ALL USERS!!! My daughter and I went to PMI yesterday to ride. The "city park ranger" stopped us and told us to leave before we even unloaded. The word from him was until next Thursday, verbal warnings, starting Friday, they will start ticketing. I was told by this "ranger", $1000 fine and up to 1 year in jail if you are caught out there. This supposedly applies to ANYONE. If you are going to the dragstrip or road course run by Faast Motorsports, no issue as long as you are on the paved road. Time to have a talk with the city council. I will not state my actual opinion of the city leaders and of this "ranger" who was a J%$#^SS"! He acted like he couldn't wait for Friday so he could start issuing tickets. Is the city leadership thinking "cash cow" for the city of pueblo?
  10. Please post videos of some hard technical trails . It can be Desert or jungle or Mountains , Rocks, Mud, Dust .....Whatever you can figure from all over is fine. It doesn't have to be yours. Pass on one you have seen. I'll start with a newer vid from phaulgai on youtube. http://www.youtube.com/user/woodsrider117?feature=mhw4#p/f/37/AjZrJPfKLOI
  11. I was planning a trip to Silverton in mid-Sept but following the typical government-led CF at Gold King Mine I am fearful of bureaucratic over-reaction closing down everything in the area. I've read that a lot of the river has been closed but nothing about any of the backcountry 4x4 trails. Would appreciate any feedback from locals since very little (other than "it wasn't my fault") seems to be reported in the media. Thanks!

    Colorado Labor Day weekend

I have not had anywhere near enough seat time this year due to work and other commitments. As much as I dread the idea of riding with tons of other people on the trail, I am going to take the wife and daughter camping/riding this coming weekend. Time does not permit going somewhere great, so we are going to head to Divide/717. We will likely do 30-50 miles per day, anyone else looking for someone to ride with and want to join? I'll get out there late Friday night, but will ride all day Sat/Sun, and most of Monday. Might pack out and leave after 4pm.
  13. Hey guys/gals If you spot and/or can safely capture a blood hound that's loose near rampart range road/hwy 67 please call or text me. Its not my dog but shes been out for almost 7 days now. Id like to help get her back to her owner I saw her on 67 near the woodbine center (where the indian teepee is in the field on 67)and tried to get her last night (unsuccessfully) and then later saw a lost dog sign (first lot at rampart) with her description. I called and the guy went looking for her (back where I saw her) but was unsuccessful. She didn't seem aggressive but might be slightly skiddish. cross post to facebook if you can. Mike 303.941.0144
  14. First race is coming up soon. Who's in?
  15. Hey All, I'm planning a hunting trip up in the Silverthorne/Grandby area for this fall, and wanted to see if anyone was interested in going. I'd need help carrying out a harvest, and would enjoy the company. YOU DO NOT NEED A HUNTING LICENSE. I'll have more as the date gets closer, but I'm planning on heading out on Thursday/Friday before (10/14) and staying either until I get a harvest or until the end of the week. Stay as long as you like, leave when you like, the company would be appreciated.
  16. Hello, I've ridden a sampling of 15 or so trail sytrems with my wife all over CO. on licensed dirt bikes before my son was born... Now that he can ride well enough I'd like to go back. I was most impressed by the cooler scenic tundra and lakes stuff up northish or above treeline, I would like to take him to some trails like that. I always had the convenience of riding into town for food and gas on whatever highway. or stringing along several towns with combinations of jeep roads or singletracks like around telluride, silverton, red mountian .... I can't do any licence required roads with him obviously, but I am looking for that sort of experience in a trail system. I'm thinking of the flat tops, or I just read about red feather lakes. He rides a 50cc gasgas kid trials bike with a seat. extreem elevation may not work out on that bike well. I dont know? I can carry extra fuel for him. I need to keep him off the boulder fields and we all hate mud. Your thought or other recomendations? Thanks, Dan, Christine & Milo

    Colorado 1972 XL250 Resto...

I am a hot rodder by trade, but about 5 years ago, the money fell out from underneath us all and a change was inevitable. i moved from Phx, AZ. to Denver Co. and started in the gaming industry. well, as always the oil in my veins has gotten the best of me i have acquired two projects. A '71 CL350 and a '72 XL250. the CL is going to sit and wait until the XL is done. originally i was going to just clean it up and flip it to fund the CL project, but while getting it cleaned up it somehow ended up a bare frame... Long story only slightly shortened i need a local parts connection for just little stuff, mainly gaskets to rebuild the motor. the bike is complete, but not well takes care of. these are my first bike builds and i am excited to get to know the motorheads here in Colorado.
  18. Buddy and I found a new looking pair of White Gaerne SG12 boots at a pull out near Tr. 788 and Jackson Creek Rd Saturday the 7th. We set them aside, out of the parking lot so they couldn't be seen by just anybody, and put near a tree where they could still be found if the owner came back for them. On our way home, we stopped by to see if they had been taken, they had been. Just wondering if the owner of them found them.
  19. I have not seen any advertisement so I thought I would remind folks, The Nationals are at Thunder Valley this Saturday. Should be some good racing. CoKTM
  20. Hey all, a 43 yo guy with a 'new' ride ('10 yz450f) and looking for some riding buddies to explore the trails with. So far I have ridden at 27 1/4 road and had fun out there. Something for all levels for sure. Recently I headed up to Bang's Canyon and rode Tabaguache to Widow or Window (I believe that was the trail name, takes you back down the hill to the Gunnison river across from Orchard Mesa). Wow, the entrance to that was right at the peak of my current skill level but I'm learning fast. Anyone looking for someone to ride with? Medium speed but willing to take up the rear as needed. What trails would you guys suggest based on where I have been so far. I appreciate any advice. Hope to see you out there.
  21. Well I need to get some trail riding in, so planning on heading down to Rampart tomorrow (memorial day). I don't know anyone in Denver to ride with and never have been there, so If anyone wants to tag along you're more than welcome-even if you've never been either, exploring's always better in a group. Planning to leave Carter Lake by 8:00, then however long it takes to get down there. Can swing by on my way down if you wanted to ride along if it works out better. Even just any info on where to park, trail suggestions (single track) etc would be appreciated! Kevin

    Colorado Hitting Rampart Sunday

I know they supposedly open the main road on April 1st, no matter though. Me and a buddy are heading down there on quads. With my dirt bike still in pieces, waiting for the head to come in, I want to go down and scope out some trails. Has anyone gone down there recently? Any amount of snow will not stop me from going. I will be on my Raptor and my co-hort has a polaris 800. With a winch, lol. I will also post an update of what the system looks like.
  23. I work near Dove valley and man there is a pile of dirt from whatever construction that is going on...I want to put a huge ramp in front of it and jump it lol its maaaasssive. Have you seen it?
