  1. Hey everyone this is my first post on Thumpertalk so I am a newbie thats for sure. I have only been riding for the last 2 years. I use to own a 06 Suzuki rmz450 and recently sold it so i could get my wife a small bike and myself a cheaper bike. I ended up purchasing my first ever 2 stroke and have no clue what I m getting myself into. -Any advice on my CR250R would be great. Things such as tuning, great upgrades, proper carb cleaning, typical problems with solutions to them etc...? -As well the bike I picked up has a good amount of oil build up where the header pipe meets with the engine and has some black stuff coming out the back of the pipe? Really hoping this isn't a bad sign to start off my 2 stroke career. Not 100% sure how to go about this. Planning on tearing down and cleaning the carb first off as well draining all the old gas. Any advice would be great. Thanks and sorry for the long post.

This is my 99 cr250. It's been with me for a few years now and it's currently on its 2nd top end rebuild. Engine is stock Gnarly with power core 2 pipe. A lot of people say this 97-99 have stiff frames but I can still throw this old girl around and she still keeps me smiling.

Just rebuilt this 2007 CR this winter... so far it has all the common mods found on this website. Took it out today for the first time and its a beast! Lots of bottom end power to shred the berms!... Love it!

My husband's first love. First and only bike we bought brand new. Currently rebuilding engine and suspension overhaul for our son to ride. This machine is still competitive on the track if you know how to ride a 2 stroke. Made it 7 years on a single piston without even re-ringing it. Maintenance is KEY!!!

Bought this one new in 2006. Awesome suspension for a stock bike, and I'm a 200lb guy. The engine is a little odd. It seems to fall way off the power band from 2nd 3rd gear. I dropped two teeth on the rear sprocket and that helped. I sure wish Honda would've kept making this bike. I'd love to have a new one with a big bore kit to race in the Vet Class. Maybe I'll have to start looking at KTM.
