  1. I have a 2006 crf250r. Bike is a pain to start. Just checked timing, rings etc. new rings, and newer piston. Once the bike is started it runs great. Snippy and quick. Valves are in spec and I’m not sure why it’s so hard to start. About to try a procedure tomorrow sometime after school so I’ll stay updated. I know pretty much everything there is to know about a 4 stroke engine. Not being cocky. I’m def not confident in carbs tho. Is it jetting?
  2. So I just did I bottom end rebuild on my 150rb I'm 13 and yes I did everything correctly I believe I also did I top end to wiseco 12.1:1 I believe. So I tried to start up my bike 50 to 100 kicks later I fired to life ran for 10 seconds I'd revved really good and had a strong idle (I shut it of because I was gonna flush the oil. The next few days wont start no matter the kicking but it has been really cold like 40f I cant bump start because of the snow. I have had trouble with leaking head gasket but has good compression please help my guys just wanna ride

  4. Just got a 08crf250r rode it and if u twist the throttle really fast it bogs and it backfires/pops when going down hills also it takes 4 to 5 kicks woth choke on to start. Dos it sound like carb problem or valves need adjusted. Anything would help thanks
  5. Hey guys! Im gonna start out with posting all the information i think is needed for you guys to help me with this problem! Stock engine 2007 crf250r. Valve clearances are good and have JUST been shimmed with a double and triple check. Jetting is 175 main, stock needle position, 45 pilot and 50 leak jet. 1000ft above sea level. Im still having a terrible time starting and it used to be a 1 kick bike. I haven't changed my kick routine at all. 3 slow kicks, 3 throttle twist and then kick. Will sometimes start if i give it some gas when kicking. And then it starts 1-4 kicks after its warm. Im lost and dont know what else to look for. Thanks!
  6. so I bought my daughter and 05' CRF 80, It started and ran fine a few times and now she has a hard time shifting into second. I wrode it a few times and trying to get into second gear you definitely don't hear the typical click over and any feel it flip I to 2nd and going up from first to second and it takes a few times of fidgeting with it to get it into gear, all the other gears seem to be fine. took it all apart everything seems to look fine but I really don't know what I'm looking at, with the clutch cover off I was able to run through all the gears but put back together with fluid in it still no go any suggestions??
  7. Hy My 2015 crf 250 has broken the conrod and I was wondering if 2011 engine would fit directly? I have a chance to buy complete engine real cheap. Or fix my old engine, which would cost a lot... Thanks for help
  8. 2018 purchased with 40-53 hours on the stock motor, pistons, vavles, shims, transmission, everything; besides an aftermarket yoshimura slip on exhaust. Checked the vavle clearance before I road it and they were all in spec with suzuki's service manual. Let's move on. The bike was primary used for I dont know what. The last owner said he did some riding in the Oregon sand dunes. No idea if it was raced before that. My goal was to turn it into a road legal dual sport. I opted for a 2012 RMZ because they come with a dignostic port behind the front number plate mounted on the ECU that when kicked over provides a constant voltage of 13.50V to 14.50V ish. To power all the road legal stuff. Upon completion I replaced the hour meter with a Trail Tech Endurance 2 at 0 miles and 0 hours. Other then a stainless steel oil filter, changed spark plug, and cleaned air filter the engine remained stock. I commuted with the bike to work daily which is 3 miles there and 3 back on 40 mph roads. During lunch i ride for one hour about 15-20 miles on some wood trails. Blah blah blah. Fast forward some more and the bike has 90 accumalated hours total. I have not check the vavle clearance since getting the bike. Most of the riding was around 45-55 mph average for top speed to 35 everywhere else. My oil changes have been every 10 hours give or take how hard and how many miles I've driven. Changed with full synthetic maxima pro plus 10w40 oil. Air filter was cleaned once in between, from the time I got the bike till 90 hours........ lay it on me but wait till you finish this read. Okay so up to this time I'll reiterate that the engine is still stock. No top end rebuilts, no vavle shims, NOTHING! All OEM. At 90 hours I changed the gearing from the stock 13/49 to 15/49 since then I've added 15 hours on it with the same riding habits as before with my longest highway/freeway trip being 30 minutes at 18 miles mostly highway miles driven at or around 65Mph. Yeah she was screaming at that too, with a 5 speed gear box. It was sketchy even with that changed gearing. Blah blah again. Now I'm at 110 hours and 1500 miles on a still stock motor besides transmission gearing. My vavle spacing hasn't changed. And I decided to tear down the top end to see what I'm working with. Cylinder, piston, rings, conrod, vavles, spark plug, head, etc look okay with normal wear and tear. So in conclusion. I will order a forged piston to deal better with the higher rpms that I run at. BUT THAT AS FAR AS ENGINE MODS WILL BE IT. I haven't notice any power losses and love that gearing. It still works well down low. Now take it or leave it but this is an honest tracker from my level of riding and mechanicle knowledge. I'm not getting paid for this or influenced by a company or brand. I'm just posting this because there is, in my opinion no real knowledge posted about this topic but a lot of people are curious. Thanks.

    I’ve broken my chain guide tabs 3 times now and are far beyond repairable. Bought a used on on eBay for $100 and decided to make it bulletproof. made with 6061 and welded with 5356 filler. Bamm.
  10. Hi there! I was wondering could you put Crf150r plastics on a 2006 CR85? I have seen you can do the front fender conversion but will that require a new number plate? And is it possible to do a rear fender too or no? Thanks for the help!
  11. I have these seals left after full engine rebuild, i think the bigger o-ring is for the starter. and i dont know where the rest go, does anyone know? That is a 1/4" ratchet. Thanks in advance
  12. On my 2008 rmz 450, at 1/4 throttle there's this horrible studder. It started about a month ago. The bike has about 70 hours on it i bought it later last year and never had a problem with it. The only thing that i changed on it was the header pipe it had the stock one and i tweaked it where it was making a weird noise so i replaced it with a stock one. Things i have tried............................ New spark plug Cleaned the air filter Oil change Checked the valves one exhaust is on the loose side but not out of spec. I may try injector cleaner but idk if thats ok for these bikes. Any help is appreciated thanks in advance
  13. I ordered a set of going racing radiator hose from eBay. I don't know the size of hose clamps to get. Can someone with experience tell me. Are they same as stock or what. Thanks
  14. I have finally gathered enough cash and will power to buy a new pitbike. And im between a crf an klx. Kawasaki is having a 300 dollar off and 100 dollar prepaid card. But is that enough to justify the loss of fuel injection? Convince me which ones better on all horizons.
  15. So I recently bought a 2006 crf 450r. After working out a few initial quirks everything has seemed to work great. I took it out to Moab for the week and rode every day. Mainly did very technical trails that forced me to abuse the clutch. Today I went to take it out on the highway and the clutch was slipping (oh well I expected that after doing almost 500 miles in a week of clutch burning trails) I left on the last trail ride this morning and there was some high speed stuff. About 1 hour in the bike decided it wouldn’t shift into 2nd. After that point to get out I had to shift it into second with my hand and it takes a decent amount of force to get it to go. I also noticed that 2 times shifting from 4th to 5th pinned it dropped 5th for about a second acting like nuetral and then kicked back into 4th. I changed the tranny fluid before the trip so I’m gonna drain it tomorrow and check for shavings. Any input would be appreciated.

    I bought my crf250x from a dealer I told him I wanted to make it street legal, so I would get it in the mail, it never came, so now I can't get it street legal, the dealer says he's working on it, which I think he's full of shit, so is there any way to get a title?
  17. Hi all, I'm new here. I just picked up a 04 CRF 450r a few weeks ago and I have been in love but recently my bike has been giving me problems with going from first to second gear. About half of the time it will just go into neutral, if I pull up extremely hard it will go into second. I can go down from 3rd to 2nd pretty easily. Any idea what this could be? I just changed the transmission oil to eliminate that, not sure if it did anything. All of my other gears work perfect I do notice that there is some resistance when rolling the bike in gear when it is off and the clutch is pulled in, is this normal with 450s? Doesn't seem to have a effect when it is on. Any input is appreciated, thank you.
  18. On my dirt bike I can pull the clutch in and rev and it will move slightly when in gear. Also, it rolls forward a significant amount when kick-starting in first gear with the clutch pulled in. Also it is very hard to roll around in gear with the clutch pulled in. The clutch is adjusted correctly
  19. So my pickup coil is still busted and the bike still isn't getting spark. Is there anyway you can fix them. Can I just buy the pickup coil or do I have to get the whole stator?
  20. There is a problem with my friends 06 crf250. It will start up and idle for a little bit and then stall. Turning on the choke makes it run longer but not by much then it stalls. Also, if you give it throttle to keep it from stalling it sputter and dies. The carb has been rebuilt, also all the Jets have been cleaned along with everything else. The tank had been emptied and filled with fresh gas. What could cause this?
  21. Does anybody know the recommended rebuild times for racing on a 2018 Honda CRF 250R? I am a B level motocross racer and I have 30 hours on the bike so far, the bike is completely stock except for a complete Yoshimura exhaust system. I know that the piston is recommended to be replaced at 15 hours. When does it need a complete top end rebuild with valves and springs and when does the bottom end need to be rebuilt?

  23. so... been having troubles with my oil levels. They just seem to never be right and I add oil or take out oil one day and the next it’ll be different. I drained my trans oil and about 100ml less then what should be in there came out. When I checked the engine oil it was a bit over where it should be. I took a bit of engine oil out and had it perfect but today when I checked, It is a fair bit lower then the top line on the dip stick. Could this mean I have migration problems? Can engine oil migrate to your trans?
  24. So I was riding yesterday, and my crf 150r cut out mid ride, I thought it just bogged out, went to kick it off and the kick start was jammed, So I thought the engine had seized, took the bike home washed it down tried the kick start and it’s somehow freed itself, but the bike won’t start???
