  1. Over the course of my time operating MotoMission Peru, I have had various opportunities to host/guide dirt bike adventures with other riders. I have a special place in my heart for father/son adventures. I guess it must have something to do with the sentiment I have with my dad. Official MotoMission Tour Video...Check the others on our Youtube Channel Dirtbikes and Dads go together When Tony and Joran contacted me about doing a tour, my excitement level rose. A father/son combo with limited dirt bike experience would be a challenge, but a welcome one. I normally cater to seasoned riders, but his one would put a different pressure on me as the guide. I needed to push these guys to their limits, while completing a route within our time frame of four days. The terrain needed to fit both the skill level and the distance we needed to cover each day. The fellas wanted to roll their tires over some amazing parts of Peru, get some mind blowing pics, and live to tell about it. A face with a smile tells a story My work was cut out for me. I put Joran on a crf 230 because of his size and experience. Dad, Tony, was on the Husky 300, I rode a Honda 450x. I figured I could swap out with one of them if I needed. Bike selection worked out perfectly. The route itself was ideal. It was a mix of single track, some rough two track, and some free ride(go where ever you want) type of stuff. It was perfect to try a hand at hill climbs, scare oneself silly on rock fixtures, and put the tires on the edge of mountain ledges to make the heart flutter a bit. The ride was fantastic. Tony and Joran both expanded their riding level to new heights. In fact, I was able to coach the guys on various little riding tricks that someone showed me along my journey. Stand up more, focus eyes on where you want to go, as well as some mechanics of body positioning and how it relates to traction and control. It was a bit of a seminar/riding school/test day. No doubt that the guys are better riders now. I thoroughly enjoyed that part of the tour. The view they wanted to see! When it all boils down, we had a fantastic four days of riding. Each were pushed to the limit various times each day. When the heads hit the pillows each night, it took no time for the sleep to begin. Smiles were abundant, and there were no shortages of whoops, hollars, and high fives. Certainly another successful tour! MotoMission Peru is a social enterprise operated by Scott Englund. If you want to see the Andes via dirtbike, this is how to do it. High quality in every aspect. Service, guide, routes, equipment, and overall experience cannot be beat. Contact Scott via Thumpertalk messaging or at scott@motomissionperu.com for more information.
  2. Hi everyone. I have a bike with a 223cc engine which is a copy of the crf 230 engine. Same bore and stroke, if you look at pics of both sides of the engine with the covers removed everything looks the same. The gearbox in my engine however is rubbish and i keep shitting 3rd gear as it gets the most use where i ride. Even the transmissions look the same. I can't find many crf 230 gearboxes online to buy so i'm wondering if anyone might know of any other hondas that use the same gearbox so i can broaden my search. Are crf 150 gearboxes the same by any chance? Also, as my engine is chinese they skimp where they can and there are no valve seats. Do crf 230 heads have valve seats? One last thing for now, i'm looking at a high comp piston for my bike as it has no power, if i put one in do i have to get new valve springs and a cam or will it run better anyway? Do you only need the special valve springs if you put in a different cam? Any helpful advice would be greatly appreciated. Gus.
  3. So I have a 2009 crf230m (supermoto) I got it stock a few months ago (only 3000 miles)and am essentially customizing it to me. Mostly road and some trails. Takes tight turns super well, the reason I started this post is not only is hard to find anything model specific since it was only made one year, I’ve managed to modify or customize all add ons such as my fender eliminator from tst industries (made for crf250l). My supermoto model is almost identical to the crf230L, very small differences to frame and components. I have been looking everywhere for axle sliders that will fit or can be modified to fit on my crf230m. Does anyone have any experience with mounting axle sliders on crf230m/L? I know this forum is mostly off road but this is one of my last resorts so far I’ve put on a Norifumi exhaust and powerbomb header, removed smog/evap canister, new grips, new brake pads, fender eliminator lowered tool box out of sight and moved back helmet lock for clean look on tail, rejet carb, new spark plug and oil change. things I’d like to do(maybe you can give input) sidehand guards, new front led turn signal(ordered), AXLE SLIDERS, skid plate-maybe, and to replace 2009 crf square headlamp housing with newer 2012-15 led crf250l headlamp housing (looks like it will match up and plug in without mods) i will attach photo of day of purchase and most recent picture any feedback may help, thanks
  4. Hey all quiquick question. So I have a 96 xr200r that has worn cam journals in the cylinder head. Obviously I can't get a new one because it's NLA now I can however get a crf230 head amd they look identical. Would a crf230 head work? Thanks!
  5. Hi. I currently own a CRF100F 2013 that my dad bought me back in 2016. I have been having so much fun and very good memories on it. However, i am now grown out of it and it lacks power. I frequently ride my dads YAMAHA TT-225 1986. It is the best bike i have ridden. The seat height is perfect, but a little more power would be nice. I ride enduro and hard trail riding (plus some goon riding/hillclimbs when i am bored) The question here is: are there any sturdy bikes out there that resemble the TT-225? I am talking about, seat height, low maintanence, bulletproof engines and so on. I am 5'6 and growing. Thanks in advance!
  6. So I just bought a crf230f about a month ago, I'm '5 8' and 130lbs. I just went trail riding with some friends for the first time. It was a blast but I had alot of trouble maneuvering this beast, would anyone recommend me buying a 150RB or 150R or just get better on the 230 and just deal with the weight
