Great little bike for just about everything. A little more power is needed for highway use.

So far so good. It seems to be a great all around bike. More to come as time passes and the customizations add up.

I thought I had out grown this bike far too quickly but put me on some single track with my friend on his xr650l and left him far behind. Really my only complaints are that the 230f and 230l share a few of the same parts but not very many. The other complaint is that the suspension is way to squishy on the front end. Over all a good bike for bombing through the woods.

I love this little bike! This dual sport will cruise along pavement at 55-60mph no problem, and will take me through trails, dirt, and hills as well. All stock except for accessories I've added, include rear rack, skid plate, phone mount and USB connection.

When they changed from the CRF230L to the CRF250l they raised the seat height quite a bit. For this reason we bought my wife this bike. It complements my CRF250L very well when we ride together.

  13. Just bought the 230L and the plastics are a little rough as it was used. Im looking to replace them but since these bikes obviously arent too popular, im having a hard time finding them. I would like to get black&white, so if anyone has ever purchased these, please share a link. OR, if anyone knows if the 230F plastics will fit my 230L, that would be even easier! Thanks in advance.

Insanely reliable, smoothe running, easy to ride small bike. Excellent beginner bike at a great price. Very freindly to the rider that doesnt want a lot of tweaking and maintenance. After market parts are some what limited do to the two year run on these. This is an xr platform as marketed overseas as such. There is nothing the same as the cr230f which has drum brake and shorter frame, 5 speed trans, etc. so parts are no way interchangeable. At 5‘8 and 180lbs this thing hauls me up hills like a tank.

  21. My brother is wanting to put a 21" wheel on his 2009 CRF230M and looking at the 230L there are very minor differences between the 2. It is really hard to find a wheel from a 230L so he was wondering if anyone knew if the wheel from the 230F would work for his bike? Any insights into the wheel differences would be really helpful as well as if anyone has done this, are there any gotchas or things to check/look out for? TIA

This is the perfect bike if you know what youre getting into. It serves its purpose exactly as Honda intended as an "around town" bike that allows for some awesome trail riding. Ive never had more fun on a bike.

Pros: Street legal and dirt capable. Fun bike that is easy to ride. Lugs along great and is easy to handle on and off-road. Low seat height for smaller riders. Dual disk brakes. Cons: Low ground clearance, under powered in stock form, short travel, and the suspension could be better.

My 230L has been a fantastic lightweight dual sport and city commuter. Mods include: FMF Powercore and Q4, 14/39 gearing, emissions equipment removed, air box lid modded and bike rejetted. Renthal Hi-Bend bars with Zeta handguards with integrated turn signals, DRC Edge 2 tail light, XRs Only oversized footpegs and front sprocket cover. The bike has gone from a 268 wet weight fully gassed up to 255 pounds fully gassed up and will itcomfortably cruise 60-65mph, dependent on hills or headwinds. I shipped the bike back to my parent's house in Illinois so I'd have something to ride when I visit, but I often wish I had in handy here in California. The main downfall of the bike is the suspension. It's fine for bumps and casual riding, but anything hard-edged is brutal both front and back. RaceTech sells a fork cartridge kit and reports say that John Hlebo can rebuild the unrebuildable rear shock and I really wish I would have performed those mods.
