Hi I own a 2003 KTM250SX that is Idling super high and Lean I re jetted the carb and it is still idling way to high (I have messed with the idle and Air Screw) The jetting right now is 178 Main 50 Pilot and 2 3/4 turn out on the Air screw Everything is set to my elevation according to my manual Anything will help Thanks!
  2. Hi I own a 1990 Honda Xr80r that has no spark we replaced the coils and points and set the new points to what the oem manual says. It had little spark before we replaced the electrics so whats happening thanks What do you think is happening here??? Anything will help THANKS!
  3. I have a 2006 KX250 that I rebuilt the top end on last year. First ride went amazing, with no issues. Second ride not so much. I was riding along and somehow the spark plug came loose and came out of the top of the cylinder head. For whatever reason I hope it was only because I forgot to tighten it. But after I put it back in place I started and continued to ride for a couple hours. Then out of nowhere my bike just stalled. I kicked and kicked but nothing happened. Once I got it home started off with changing spark plug, but had no spark. Did a little research and asked a few friends and they led me too changing my ignition coil. So I changed that and also added a new plug cap, but still no spark. Could this be a CDI issue?? Stator?? Or does anybody have any tips for troubleshooting these items, other than what I've read about trying new CDI box, hoping and praying that I don't have two over priced perfectly fine boxes kicking around?

  5. Hello everyone. I just bought my son a dirt bike last Christmas and he is doing great. He just turned 9, but is a giant 9 year old. We bought a used 80cc, that was supped up to a 105 from a previous family of racers. He now is interested in racing, but I am not sure where or how to get his started. We reside in Las Vegas. Any pointers would be great. Thanks
  6. Last night I purchased a 1987 Honda XL250R for my son. It appeared to be in decent shape for the year. When I got there to look at the bike he already had it running, he showed me that it ran, went thru the different functions ETC. We shut the bike off for a few minutes, discussed just a bunch of different type of things, and I re-started the bike before I loaded it up and left. It was about an hour ride home, and the bike cooled off in that time and now I can not get it to fire at all...… will not even attempt to fire over...… just kick and kick and nothing: when I pulled the spark plug it was dry, a little black, but not all that terrible. I have: * changed the spark plug * left the plug on top of the engine kicked it over and do see a strong spark * used the choke to try starting it * sprayed either in the cylinder * let it sit for a hour and came back to it ( assuming it was flooded) * Let it sit over night and tried to start it (assuming its flooded) Nothing will get it to even cough much less attempt to start. ANY HELP WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!!
  7. Today I decided to properly gap my spark plug on my 2003 KTM250SX and I started it up after gapping the plug 0.60mm like what my manual said. I started the bike after and it was running really well and clean ( I was happy) I was reving it slightly to warm it up and then the bike bogged and died like the plug was fowled ( I just rejected the carb and it was running really good) I took out the plug again and it looked normal from what I can tell so I put it back in and the bike will not start. ANYTHING WILL HELP Thanks Bike has been known to foul plugs but not recently with new top end. Bike Also has brand new top end with 2 hours on it roughly. Mixing ratio is 40:1 Plug is Br8ecm
  8. It would be supercool for each region to be fronted with a map marking each member 'approved' legal riding area. A small numbered flag for each location followed by a detail list under the map would certainly attract sponsors.
  9. Hi I recently bought a used dirt bike I’m not sure the brand of bike it is all I know is it is a 100cc 4 stroke Chinese bike. It didn’t come with a CDI can anyone direct me or link for a CDI that will work with my bike

  11. Hey guys. So, I finally got to take my somewhat newly acquired kdx 220 out this weekend. It has been sitting in the garage since October or so of last year when I purchased it. I have been dialing in the jetting and just replaced the gas tank due to a massive leak the previous owner failed to disclose(The previous owner put ample amounts of jb weld in/ on the tank and I definitely should have noticed it. Rookie buying mistake). I took it to Kelly Flats, an off road trail about 30-45 minutes up Poudre canyon. Unfortunately I do not have any riding friends yet so I decided to tackle it myself with the presumption that there would be people there to help me should a problem arise on the trail (its memorial weekend, after all...and there were people just no dirt bikers). Let me tell you I had an absolute blast. There was a good variety of terrain, the weather was excellent, and the bike ran like a top. I surprised myself with how I rode, really. I haven't ridden off road since I was maybe thirteen or fourteen and riding that bike almost feels like second nature to me. I think my mountain biking/ street bike experience helped immensely. Unfortunately I did get the opportunity to befriend any riders there (there weren't any) but on my way home I saw lots and lots of people with motorcycles heading that direction. Bummer. Anyhow, it would be really cool if I could meet up with a few of you and ride that or another trail again in the coming weeks/ months. Riding solo is definately fun but to actually know a few people in the riding community would be awesome. Message me if any of you would be up for it. Cheers. P.S. Thank you everyone who suggested a 2 stroke/ the kdx. Keeping the bike on the pipe is too much fun. I just don't feel it would be the same on a thumper (no offense to any of you). Different strokes for different folks I guess (pun intended).

  13. I got a 94 CR 125 with a 96 cylinder head bolted onto it. The numbers stamped onto top of both heads are identical. Checked the squish and I'm getting .71-.73mm, so average .72mm. Does anyone know the stock squish on a 94 125? I'm trying to set this up as a stock bike as much as possible. Got a replated cylinder which is back to stock bore, new piston and ring, new crank, crank bearings and new seals all around. And a bunch of other new stuff inside crankcase. Gonna throw on a new FMF fat boy and I got it jetted to the FMF recommendations for a stock engine. Gonna run a 13/51 gear set which is stock. Stock Stock and all stock. And I plan on using high test pump gas. Update: I finally found a thread about 94 CR125 squish numbers on this thread: Looks like the .71-.73 squish I'm getting is WAY to tight. I'm gonna have to find some kind of variable gasket kit for the engine to cylinder gasket to get it up to around 1.0mm. Or have about .25mm knocked off the head. The deck height is good. I don't know what exactly raising the cylinder in relation to the piston will do. What's the best thing to do?

  15. Hi,thumpertalk noob here. Not sure if this is the right place or right way to do this. Bear with me here. Ive got a few questions regarding Freestyle Motocross. 1. Are there any upcoming FMX shows in Florida? 2. Are there places open to the public to hit ramps in Florida? Preferably central Florida. (I've hear about Hard Rock Cycle park,sounds great. Will make my way there soon and check it out.) 3. Are there any central Florida locals that are willing share any personal FMX riding spots? 4.   16. Hi, my father and I got this 2012 CRF250R in August and it has some problems. The owner had listed that it had minor/medium risk problems like a broken kick lever spring, a welded right crankcase cover, and a less than perfect condition radiator (the metal mesh was split toward the top due to the previous owner having a bad crash). We took the bike and got to work fixing it, immediately we found the spark plug had some rust which was questionable on if the previous owner had replaced it or not in the recent years (could be because of weathering but with the way the frame protects it it's questionable). We also took the right crank case off and tried to fix the kick-lever spring, and after some struggle with the positioning of the crank spindle we put attempted to put the clutch back together. After putting the discs and friction plates back on we went to put the bolts and springs for the clutch cage back and they broke, questioning the strength and integrity of those. That's besides the point, after we had replaced the spark plug and liquids (coolant, oil, and transmission fluid, with new radiators), the bike still had trouble starting. I was wondering if the bike had other problems we might not have been aware of, problems that are common with the type of bike and if there was some hope of not replacing any engine components as I understand that they are very expensive to replace. I also do not know if the bike even has a choke as I know the idle adjuster helps with engine management. I am consulting the service manual but some community insight would be more than helpful.
