So far this has been a great bike only had it for a short time and only have put around 400 miles ofroad with it that will increase soon though then I will provide a full review.
  4. I just bought a DR350 (dual sport model) off a guy who used to ride daily, 10,000 miles on it. He had it somewhat warm when we arrived, which is a red flag I know, but it started for me on second kick and the test ride went very smoothly, so we finished up and I bought it. Now what I've noticed once I got home is that the bike will start first-second kick and idle very well, but if you open the throttle a bit she'll sputter, and if you don't close it or open it too much, she'll die. The thing is that this only happens within the first 4-6 minutes after a cool start. Once she warms up, I have no problems at all; idles nicely, responds when you gun it, everything. For some more info, I just started it this morning (76 degrees outside, garage kept), and used my phone to time how long it took to be fine - about 6 minutes. I'm assuming this is a carb problem, or maybe the fact that he had some pretty old gas in the tank since he last rode it, but I'm really hoping it's something that can be fixed and not something that I'll just have to learn to tolerate. It's essentially unrideable until it's warm because giving it throttle jerks you around and will eventually stall. Anyone know what I can do?

I cannot really review this ol' girl. I have had it for 3 years and have only been able to ride it once due to issues and lack of time to do a restore. Restoration has begun so now I am going to need advice.

First dual-sport. I have had it since 1990. Kinda doggish stock-had trouble keeping up w/ 1990 XL250 when stock. Put a Vortex airbox w/ flatslide DR350 carb. Exhaust header from Kientech and FMF powercore w/ quieter insert. Front forks have Race tech cartridge internals and Summer's fork brace and rear has Scott's swingarm w/ Ohlin Shock. Runs much better now. No breakdowns other than had clutch started slipping riding once in very muddy conditions and I replaced plates and springs w/ Barnett kevlar clutch kit. Been a good bike but a bit antiquated now. I also put stainless steel brake lines front and rear.

Project-Fresh out of a barn after sitting for a long time. Last plated in 1998. I picked it up and it was 25 below with the wind chill here in Michigan. Now it's frozen in the garage as my garage door is frozen to the ground.

1993 Suzuki DR350s Top End Assembly Help!

Hey guys!! this is my first ever post on tt!! I recently moved out to Utah for college (all the way from Ga) and I couldn't bring my 05 Yz 125 all the way out here (Let alone ride it on the road) so I decided to search online ads for dual sports because I love riding on road and off road, also my dad has a 2000 drz 400 which he used to ride on the street, and I used to ride it around my grandparents 24 acres. Anyway I have found a 1993 Dr350s for $700 that had the cylinder head that needs to be put on the engine and the engine needs to be installed back onto the bike. all parts are included (Including new gaskets ) and the guy I bought it from already rebuilt the bottom end because gears were slipping. I decided to take the challenge of rebuilding the bike because I have had previous experience rebuilding some motorcycle engines and I'm kinda desperate to get riding again . I ended up getting the bike for just $600 because the cylinder head had one of the exhaust screws break off into it, and it needed to be drilled and tapped out. I ordered engine oil, Suzuki moly paste, hondabond HT, locktite blue....etc. I also took the head to a local machine shop to get the screw removed as I do not have access to too many power tools. I think I covered the background pretty thoroughly haha now for my question Can you guys offer some tips for putting the bike together at this stage? I have the digital manual and I have been studying it for about a week, but I would like to know some tips specifically for the DR (Or in general for rebuilding an engine) so I don't screw up the engine while trying to put it together. I will take all the tips I can get!! I will put pics up soon!! Thanks Trevor
  16. OK I am a whits end. I have owned this bike for some time and have not been able to get it to run reliably it is the 1990-1991 dr350s - It ran once when I got it and then one more time a year or so later when I had a friend helping me but both times once I turned it off, it would not start again. It has been over a year since the last time and it is time to get serious. - it had a week spark so I changed the coil and plug. -still not good spark but found it was sparking when in the "off" Position as well as with the kill switch in the "kill" position. found a broken ground in the main harness so removed harness, fixed and inspected the entire thing - appears to have better spark, compression was 90psi so I soaked some Marvel Mystery oil in the cylinder and then flushed it.. now getting about 115psi. Used starting fluid and not even a sputter I just am not sure what else to do. it would be nice to have electric start or a way to just turn it over for a while rather than one kick at a time so could hear the motor sounds but I cannot see a way to do that (unless I can find a treadmill somewhere ;-) ) Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Used, kick start only DR350. Fun bike
  19. I have a 1993 Dr350s. I bought it from a guy in indiana for 1000 bucks. Was dumping oil out of the cylinder base gasket, when took it apart found that it had a ripped base gasket. I replaced it and put it all back together and it ran perfectly with no leaks or problems for two weeks. Yesterday i rode it to work and when i left work i saw that the cap on my supertrapp exhaust was loose so when i got home i took it off and tried to turn it on without the cap for the hell of it and it would not start. The motor was running 30 minutes before i tried to turn it on without the cap and the engine was still hot. when i put the cap back on it still wouldnt start. The engine feels like it lost a little bit of compression It still has plenty of compression though its not limp or weak by any means. so I got frustrated and decided to let it sit overnight and see if it would turn on in the morning. so around 930 am today i pulled the decompression lever and turned the engine over until the piston reach the top of the cylinder and gave it a solid kick and it turned right on like normal. Usually i have the petcock on the ON position but earlier today i had it on the PRI just to see if that would change anything. Anyway i foolishly left the petcock to the PRI setting after i turned it off and when i came back into the garage a hour or so later it had dumped a bunch of gas out of the overflow port on the bottom of the carb onto the ground. Now it wont start again even though it ran earlier today even after the initial problem of not starting yesterday. ive tried several times to turn it on today and it hasnt worked, I have spark im quite sure my timing is correct seeing how it fired up today and when i was putting it back together the timing chain was very tight. Im going to let it sit overnight again and see if it will turn on maybe i flooded it and it needs awhile to drain? i will make sure the petcock is set to ON not PRI tomorrow. Because it wasnt working last night but worked this morning the only variable that changed was that it was about 9 1/2 hours between me trying to turn it on last night and it turning on this morning so im thinking its a flooding issue and im just not being patient enough. Or possibly a Carb issue? My car broke down a couple weeks ago as well so ive been using the Dr nearly every day since i rebuilt it with no errors. it always turns on even when cold within 3 kicks. Tell me what you think Problem first arose on 9-17-16 today is 9-18-16
