This is a 2010 model. The cheap carb seems to be the only down fall right now. Hard to cold start.

Great all around trail bike. Its VERY heavy though for how small it is but that is to be expected with a 4 stroke. The kick starter is weird also, it goes below the foot pegs which if you are riding and get your feet wet and then go to start it and don't have boots on and your foot slips the peg will eat your shin alive. Other than that a strong great begginer bike.

great starter bike, i been riding for a while and i still enjoy pulling it out! there is a few mods to give it a little more pep an there is a lot of parts from the suzuki rm85 that are great to swap over to make the drz an even better bike. For instance you can swap the entire front suspension, the rear shock, and also the swing arm over to the drz from a rm85. that will make the bike handle tone better! si far i have just removed the snorkel tube from the air box, installed a KnN air filter and installed a FMF pro series muffler and just those small mods turned the bike around completely for the better!

Was a great first moto style bike for my wife to learn on. It has great torque and is hard to stall but forgiving on mistakes. It's also low maintenance which rocks if it gets ridden a lot. I even enjoy cruising trails or playing around on it. It may get traded this week for a 2012 KX85 so the Mrs can participate on race day. I'm not sure if this bike could endure the punishment of an experienced rider if used for racing. It's close to being capable but it's a great bike to learn on, the fun factor is all there. It can handle aggressive rides but since I'm probably 75-100lbs larger than it's intended rider. I didn't push it for more than 10 minutes at a time. I guess if it can handle my big bum playing around on it, it must be solid. I'd give it 5 stars but why the drums? Come on, rear drum brakes. It would be a stellar pit bike for adults, also would be a nice trail bike for small adults/youth, or as mentioned first moto type.

I purchased this as a starter bike, as I hadn't ridden in nearly 10 years. Being that this is the "L" model, it is quite comfortable for my size (approx. 6', 160lbs), while still being lightweight and highly maneuverable. I have come to enjoy my 125L so much, I don't see myself "stepping up" to anything larger anytime soon. **This review is not complete; I intend to add more to it when I have more time.**
