Hi all, I am after a bit of advice on how to cure the running problems I’m having on my 2009 250 EXC-F The problem I am having is the bike is difficult to start once hot both off electric start and kick, spluttery when giving small blips off idle and will sometimes stall and also gets lots of pops, bangs and occasional flame on deceleration Mid range and top end performance feels good Carburettor is clean and currently set to stock factory settings and I have also tried a taffmeisters jetting kit with not much effect I get very little response from the fuel screw and the bike will continue to idle when all the way in and revs don’t seem to increase when backing the screw out incrementally to 2.5 turns out Valve clearances have been checked and are in spec Leak down test shows less than 10% leakage Air filter is clean along with new CR9EIX plug Any advice would be much appreciated Cheers Adam

Hi, I plan on lowering my 250 EXC-F. Has anyone else done it. I plan on getting the 50mm lowering kit from RATV. https://www.rockymountainatvmc.com/p/3585/73769/KTM-Low-Suspension-Kit?s=1361729 It comes with 2 fork springs, 2 spacers, and 1 bushing. I am assuming the bushing is for the rear. Has anyone lowered the rear themselves? I checked all of youtube and didnt find anything other than some dude from Motolab just running his mouth and another guy from austrailia using some type of spring compressor. So my question, do you need to remove the shock oil in order to lower the rear shock? I would like to know before I place my order. And any tips would help. I figured out how to service the front forks, I am more concerned about how to do the rear. I downloaded a 350 exc-f manual but it looks like i have to depressurize the rear shock. Is that the case in order to open up a PDS shock? Thank you

Hello, before creating a new topic, I did a search without success. My 2015 EXC-F 250's dashboard is not fully working, when I bought the bike (used) I noticed that the dashboard came on upon starting the bike, but I never noticed it never tracked speed or nothing; the troubleshooting started by checking the wiring from the power but since it turned on upon starting the bike, that was checked off; next I replaced the battery in the module, checked off but still no solution; after consultation I was told that the cable/sensor tends to fail in KTMs so I replaced the entire cable and wheel magnet; it didn't work, so before having to replace the module, can I get more suggestions on possible solutions? thanks.

I have a 2017 250 EXC-F that is stock. Its has about 15 hours so far. I notice a slight hesitation in the engine when blipping the throttle to were the engine seems that it is about to die. Like a momentary pause. Or a lag\delay between the throttle input and when the throttle opens. Anyone experience this?? Engine was properly warmed up and was working in the garage at the time.

Hello everyone, first time on the thumper talk forums, and first bike, hope someone can help! So i'll explain this in detail. For reference, the bike has got a Keihin FCR MX 39 Carburetor. Thoroughly cleaned, checked every passage and jet, dissassembled the whole thing, gave it a bath. Petcock is cleaned as well. I've bought this (first) bike (110 hours) about 1 1/2 months ago and have been having trouble since I got it home. When buying it was running fine. But while looking for the choke I probably turned the idle speed adjusting screw and once I got it home I had trouble kicking it so I started playing more with the screw. Realising I wasn't getting anywhere I ended up deciding to buy an adjustable fuel mixture screw, as even with the smallest tools I couldn't get to the one already in there. Installed it, got the idle running alright but when blipping the throttle, it would just starve. Did some research and figured it was my accelerator pump that had to much play in it. Adjusted that, and now I can blip it without issues. Following this I thought I could finally ride it, but the bike's behaviour was still strange. Sometimes it had and has absolutely no issue and sometimes the bike ends up not getting fuel for a short while and picking up again or just ends up diying when opening the throttle. (Video links underneath). So I decided I'd clean the carb entirely. Issue persists. I shall describe, what's happening exactly: I open the throttle, bike accelerates and once I get past about half throttle, sometimes, not always, randomly I'd say, it just bogs and if I don't let the throttle go it dies. Sometimes same thing, but it bogs for a brief moment and picks up again. And sometimes it just works. One thing I haven't checked is the spark plug, but I don't see how that could explain my issue, especially because I didn't notice anything while test riding it. Another thing I noticed on the recordings I made, is that the rear light seems to be randomly flashing although I haven't got my lights on. Another mystery I guess. Any answers to this are welcome too. P.S. I can't find a manual for the Keihin FCR MX 39 anywhere, would be greatly appreciated if someone knows where I can find it. Here is my review after 1 year and 2100 miles. I also did a review at 180 miles. The bad stock: *Stock Tires Suck *Stock Seat Sucks *Stock 2.4 gallon tank is a bit too small. 3.0 gallons would be about perfect. Stock tank around 90 to 105 mile range. *Stock Rear License Plate/Tail Light assembly is ugly and flops all over. *Battery ground terminal gets loose and bike quits running, need to relocate to aluminum brace behind battery. *Key switch is flimsy, and kill switch is easy to leave on and think your bike wont start.😁 *Power is good, could be much better....see vortex below. *I don't feel ripped off, but I do think for the price some of the above should be better quality. The good stock: *Easy to work on, easy to maintain. *Its a dirt bike with a plate, love this aspect of this bike. *Excellent suspension. *Other than loose ground terminal, ultra reliable. *Super fun to ride. *Its a dirt bike with a plate.....did I already say that? The mods: (in order of importance) *Motoz Desert tires front and back. Back has 1850 miles on it and is probably 75% used up. Front has 75% remaining. I bought a Kenda 760 trackmaster to replace the rear motoz desert. Much softer feeling, we'll see. I'm guessing I'll be back to another Motoz Desert after the Kenda? *Vortex. Holy mother of God......should have purchased this with the bike new. Turns this bike into a monster. Great power, usable power. Total awesomeness with this mod. Finally reminds me of my beloved CR 500's I had in the 90's. Worth every penny. *AOMC hand guards. Cheap, got what I paid for. *Enduro Engineering Skid Plate. Good quality, fit well, works good. *Fastrax Tank Bag........best value tank bag, $23 delivered to my door. Love it!! *Double Take Mirror.......ugly, works excellent. Did have enduro engineering mirror, it broke off in a sand nap up at Halsey, double take much better mirror. *Sicass Rear taillight assembly. Overpriced, works, looks much better. *Green Chile rear rack, overpriced, works ok. Final thoughts: Would I buy it again?........Absolutely!! Is it overpriced?.. slightly. Would I check out a Beta 500 next time?......absolutely. Overall I have exactly what I want now, the Vortex turned this thing into the animal I was looking for. I love it, but I could love a Beta 500 also. Maybe in 3 or 4 years I'll replace her, but for now it's everything I wanted and more.

Has anyone used this? Also for those that are familiar with connectors does anyone know what kind these are? https://slavensracing.com/shop/canistersolenoid-valve-removal-dongle/ I really dont want to pay the "DUDE" 20 bucks for something he bought for like 3 cents. If anyone can cross reference these connector let me know. Not sure if this is a molex, amphenol, delphi, etc...

Bought a 2014 EXC 500 a few weeks ago and love the bike. But it makes a knocking noise that seems loudest near the crankcase cover when idling in neutral and goes away when the clutch is pulled. Its also louder once the bike is completely warmed up. Also noticed that the bike sometimes jolts forward a small amount when starting if the clutch isn’t pulled in when standing beside it. Don’t know if I’m being paranoid but it seems like this is getting worse. Is this normal? (the noise and dragging, not me being paranoid)
