  2. Im new to the site so please forgive me if i get it all wrong but im kinda in a pickle. So last year to make a story short i was working on my fuel pump on my 08 te 610 and my over head heater decided to nuke a bird nest amwhich in turned lit up my bike. Everything plastic and electrical burnt pretty bad (non salvageable). The engine is ok with 2300kms. I have recently bought a used 2008 ktm 530exc that had a wristpin bearing go so some major internal failure So the big question is will the carb off the 530 big enough to work well with the previously fuel injected 610? My plan is to basically dlap my 610 into the 530 does anyone know of problems that might occur with the change??? Thanks mike.
  3. Hey does anyone know if the front forks off a 2003 250exc will go right onto my 01 250 exc? I found a set that was swapped right away that will be cheaper to purchase than changing the fork seals in mine.. part numbers are different but I'm learning with these bikes that doesn't mean much. I want to just be able to bolt it up and use my original rim the whole bit or I wouldnt see it worth it anymore
  4. I am in the process of restoring my trusty 2007 450 EXC and just thought I'd document some of the things I did. If anyone has any questions, let me know. A little back story first. This bike has been absolutely great for years first of all but around 4 years ago even though I had a dirt tricks belleville washer and red loctite, the front sprocket bolt fell out on a two day Nevada ride. Made it back ok but the countershaft splines were starting to wear. Fast forward to 2019 and the CS gave out on me on a big hill climb in the middle of Nevada. Towed out 5 miles and luckily all was OK. I have since bought a 2019 500 EXC but decided to restore it. With all the Covid stuff happening it has given me time to really clean and polish this whole bike. Here is a photo about a month before the breakdown. Start of the teardown. Don't zoom in to those countershaft splines, it's not pretty. On a side note I had just done a top end 80 hours prior and had roughly 500 hours on it before that. Engine sent to Travis at Thumper Racing in NV for bottom end work and a good lookover. Frame about to be sent out for powder coat. KTM Orange. I wasn't going to even do this but man, might as well since it was apart. $125 locally in my small mountain town. Its funny how this all started when I was only going to really clean the airbox out really well when it was still in the sub-frame, nope. Before.... After... with Purple Power degreaser. You don't realize how dirty and corroded things get. Before.... After... I initially just wanted to clean things up. Scotch brite to header pipe, clean up radiators, decrease and once over everything. Then I learned a few cleaning tips from a guy named Cameron Niemela on YouTube. Then I went out and bought some mag wheel cleaner, a buffing wheel and some Scotch Brite wheels from his Pryme MX site. This is where I think I started beginning to lose it. I had to clean or polish everything. I'm gonna post this before I lose what I have written already. I'll just add stuff as I go on this restore. Stay tuned.
  5. Hello everyone I finished most of the mod on my ktm today and its an hell of a beast. So far I've removed the reeds, installed the jd tuner, removed the end cap restriction, desmog both intake and exhaust. I must say it is very impressive. It is completly another bike from the one I bought 5 month earlier. Next thing for this summer would be a new set of tire since the one they give with the bike (contiental tkc) are very slippery. I want to use them because I won't be able to sell them so better burn them fast. I don't know at what psi I should run them I suppose Ill figure it out. Anyway, wanted to say thanks to everyone who helped me directly or via older post I've been reading lately. See ya
  6. Changed the oil and filters on my ktm exc 525 2005 today. Its the first time after i bought it and i found quite a bit of metall in the oil screen filter under the engine. The clutch was sluring when i was driving it really hot a few days ago. The next day it was like before again. Is there anyone that knows what this is from?
  7. Hello I'm brand new to this forum and I also just bought an ktm 500 exc-f. I am a long time mx driver (since I can walk) and Ive had mainly kawa motocross. I have 2 questions for you guys. 1. I wanna change the stock exhaust, but the dealer tell me there only 1 option and its and 1000$ akrapovik slip on. I looked on the web a little and everyone seem to have and fmf 4.1. Is it bolt on and where can I get one. 2. My last mx was an 2015 kx 250f, it seem the bike had way more power than this exc-f 500. Is there a more aggressive mapping option? Thanks in advance and I am happy to join a community who love bike just like I do

I have a 2001 ktm 250exc I bought new rims but am having a terrible time finding hubs for them I am trying not to unlace the rims I have as having spares would be ideal to dealer wants too much for the hubs and I have found with my bike a lot of expensive parts are comparable with a lot of newer bikes aftermarket parts that are available at half the cost if anyone has any knowledge and could please help me out it would be greatly appreciated thanks
  10. Does anyone have any experience putting 6th gear out of an excf450 in an sxf 450 motor. Mine is us spec 5 speed already. Thinking new barrel, shifter fork and gear wheels should do it
  11. Hopefully someone here can help me I bought this bike and it was in pieces this is my final step before I can ride and its driving me nuts to the point I'm almost ready to sell it. I have an 01 ktm 250exc I have purchased a new slave cylinder for the bike hooked it all up I gravity bleed the system until fluid came out closed the bleeder filled the reservoir pushed the piston on the slave until no bubbles came out anymore I then proceeded to bottom bleed a few times just to make sure. My handle feels weird like there is resistance yet with the clutch cover off I can see movement. I have taken the clutch out inspected the basket filed anything that could possibly give it any problems still nothing I ran it with trans fluid in it to try to free it up incase it was stuck still nothing. I have a lot of time and money in this bike and I am really started to wish it came stock with a cable clutch does anyone have any suggestions?

Hey guys I'm running into a problem my slave cylinder is shot and discontinued I was wondering if anyone knew what options I have for a slave cylinder I cant find the exact one anywhere only thing close I have found is an obereon clu 1201 but apparently the hose hookup is different if anyone has gone through this and knows what I can do I could really use some help
  13. Hi! Currently adressing all the problems on my 500 EXC and now to the one that bothers me the most... The anoying ticking sound coming from the cam chain. Just adjustet the valves so they are in spec and bought new springs and high temp silicone for the exhaust to ensure there are no leaks, but the sound itself is coming from the cam chain side. The sound is always there either hot or cold and rises and decreases with the rpm. All the vidoes of the 530's on YouTube with a failing cam chain tensioner has the exact same sound. On the older bikes it's very popular to buy a Dirt Tricks cam tensioner for them to quiet down the noise, is this still possible on the newer 500's? Is there any way of testing if the OEM tensioner is failing first maybe? Thanks guys.
  14. Hello and new to dirt riding. I just bought a used 2002 400 exc-r and as a newb I find the bike extremely high for me. Had the sag adjusted and that helped but damn I can barely put my feet flat and on the trails it makes it feel so off balance because my feet don't touch and then I loose my balance and of course fall over. 4 times I dropped her yesterday in the woods... ha.. the suspension is plush but i feel too high any tips on maybe lowering it or better balancing tips? I am 200lbs, 5'11". Thanks, Crazycarl012865
  15. Just looking for a few more ideas prior to taking the bike in to the moto shop. I rebuilt a 2009 exc 530, new top end and replaced cylinder, new carb kit, and valves are perfect from shims to seats, and all checked when piston is locked at tdc. Currently the bike turns over nicely, I have compression, it backfires when choke is pulled, and smell of fuel in the exhaust, and brand new gas. Spark is working out of cylinder, and tried another plug to ensure it wasn’t failing under compression. last thing I haven’t done is tested compression with a gauge, but it blows my thumb off the spark plugs hole when I check it that way. Any thoughts, Im honestly lost at this point.
