  1. What can anyone recommend to help my bike(03 CR250r) climb like a KTM 300 XC? I know what most of you will probably say and that would be to go buy a 300 but that is not in the cards right now as I can't afford another payment right now. The mods that are currently on my bike are FMF gnarly pipe and VF3 reeds, a JD jet kit in it and 13/50 sprockets. It runs good but it won't climb some of the hills the 300 will and I have ridden the 300 and it makes climbing a breeze. I was tempted to try a flywheel weight but I have never tried one so any help I would appreciate. I'm 220lb rider by the way.
  2. https://www.gofundme.com/my-dads-brain-tumor-surgery Please do all that you can do for my friend Paul Santoro aka Syco, who's been diagnosed with a brain tumor. For those of you who know him you all have stories to tell without a doubt and for those who don't, he is one of a kind beyond his incredible talent and passion for adventure on a dirt bike let alone mountain bike and surfing he really does have a heart of gold! Paul has two boys one of which is responsible for setting up the above fund for his father and a daughter whom all are by his side supporting him in these challenging times and his girlfriend Chardel too is beyond words lovingly by his side. So again, I'm asking for your support whether it be donating to his fund and/or spreading the word/link around so people can contribute. My deepest gratitude to all that take time to read this post and for those who help in any way you are awesome! Thanks, Brian
  3. Let's see your CRF250L, sitting purdy or in action.
  4. Ran engine without oil, it has a knock and is leaking from the upper head. I need to have it looked at soon and can't afford dealership prices.
  5. Haha title says it all! I have seen other threads like this one but for yz's and KTM's... What I did with my 02 cr125 today was fix some warpage on the cylinder?! Then drilled and tapped some stud bolt holes. My baby! Drilling cylinder! This kind of engine work makes me cringe! All of the studs have helicoils except for 1 lol. Post up your bikes and what you did! Let's see if we can be this thread going!
  6. So, I picked up a '03 CRF150F a few weeks back. Found out later that it had been rebuilt but UTI, supposedly. It has a BBR exhaust and has been re-jetted with a BBR jetting kit. Ran good until it started having difficulties starting. Changed the oil and it made it easier to start for about a week. Put in a new Rev Box because that's what it had in it, and that has fixed the hard to start issue. But even more lately, there's been a knocking or clunking sound from the bottom end of the engine. You can only hear this knocking sound though when the engine is returning to idle after revving it in neutral. And it has this knock or clunk whether its cold or warmed up, although it does get louder and more frequent when it's warmed. Don't know what it is and haven't figured that out, but when I was test driving it, I got up to fifth gear and all of a sudden it sounded like a valve or something from the top end broke. It was if the engine lost all compression because you could hear the air just blowing in and out of the cylinder. Pushed the bike forward and I could feel that the engine wasn't seized up, but trying to start it with the kick start wouldn't work. Wasn't able to start the bike so I removed the engine and disassembled the top end expecting to see a broken valve or one that wasn't seating right. However, the cylinder head is black and has quite a bit of carbon buildup, so I don't know if that would cause it. Or maybe a valve is out of adjustment or the timing? The connecting rod seems to be tight enough because when you pull the piston up and push it down, there's no slack, except for side to side, which is normal I believe. Valves? Timing? Carbon buildup? Something in the lower end? Any ideas?
  7. Hey guys so i just got a new 17 crf450rx. I was able to find a used one for 5000 with 3 hours on it. I have never had a fuel injected bike before. I am coming off the old trust 450x. So far the bike has been amazing. I do however have a few concerns about it that i wanted to get checked out. So when i bought the bike i am pretty sure there was bad gas left in it. I did not drain it and i ran the rest of it with some new gas in the tank. After the first ride i washed it and cleaned it up. Since then it has been taking it twice to start. What i mean by that is when i start it cold (it is in the 90's here in texas) it will die and then i have to start it again. then it will run. My throttle response seem kind of poor before it gets warmed up. when it is warm not problems what so ever. I drained the fuel and put some fresh gas in it with some sea foam thinking there might be some junk left in a injector or something. What is the deal? I dont feel like this is normal. Maybe i need a new fuel filter or something? Thanks everyone!
  8. Hey everyone, New member and totally new rider in general here. I bought my first bike a month ago, a 1986 XR250R. The previous owner says that he had just rebuilt the top end, and to my knowledge he was telling the truth. The carb is very clean and set to spec, it starts in a kick or two, cold or hot. My problem began today. I had been riding out in the woods on easy slow terrain for the first few weeks on my bike, but today took it out on a road to get home quicker. I rode for a few miles at 50-55 mph, which is the fastest I'd taken the bike so far. When I entered a town I pulled in my clutch to shift down, accidentally still had the throttle engaged a bit so it revved loud and then shut off completely. I rolled the bike to a stop nearby and could not get it to start again. Tried to let it cool off, kicked through with decompression pulled and fuel off just in case. Couldn't get it to start. Had to get hauled home, which sucked. Does anyone have any ideas of what might be going on? I'm at a loss and pretty bummed. Just want to ride the bike. Thanks!
  9. For me it was a productive day. I did my first oil change, turned up the preload and did a "custom" fender eliminator/reducer by modifying the stock one. So what did you do to yours today?

  11. I'm thinking of saving up for either the crf250l or wr250r. I would ride mostly to school and on trails around my place. I'm 14 6'3 and weigh around 140. And considering the wr getting discontinued, I don't have much choice on getting a brand new bike. But I would still like to have you guy's opinions on which I should get. Thanks
  12. Hello, now that you guys have gave me ways to get rid of spray paint im wondering how should i paint it. I would power-coat it but I think that is over my 150 dollar budget. Any thoughts?

Selling my 2015 CarryOn 6 ft x 12 ft Enclosed Trailer Conversion. I tow this awesome trailer with a V6 jeep cherokee with no problems. One owner on this trailer, purchased new and I've done all the work/additions with exception of the slider window. I use this rig to go camping with 1 or 2 motorcycles and a quad or two could fit inside. The dry weight is 1000 lbs. The total weight is somewhere around 1200 lbs minus toys. If you have a v6 SUV or med truck, this trailer is the perfect combination: light weight, easy to tow, doesn't take up much space, comfortable and way cheaper/lighter than the smallest toy hauler. I'm 5' 10" and there is easily another 4-5 inches of headroom since the ceiling is 6' 6". The pictures, map wall, posters etc can be taken down. Here is a complete list of what it comes with: -Rear ramp door with cam locks -Side RV door with cam lock & interior lock -Window with screen and slider -2" rigid insulation in walls, 2.5" rigid insulation in ceiling -wood ceiling (most enclosed trailers come with open ceiling) -Drawers, cabinets, tons of useful storage -Countertop for preparing meals -RV-style pump faucet and sink with drain -Carpet & vinyl flooring -4 D-ring tie-downs -Shower kit with USB rechargeable battery -Heater -Electric fan -LED lights & Dome lights -Bed for one (quite comfortable, and can be folded up to fit toys or used outside as table) -Shelves -Caster wheel & sand pad -Spare tire -Painted inside, grip coating on ramp door Title in hand. No trades, cash or cashier check only.

  18. Hi Guys I am about to attempt to take a Honda CRF250L around the world. I aim to become the first British Woman to do this journey solo and if I make it to Antarctica, I will have hit all 7 continents, making me the first Brit and only the 5 person in the world to have ridden my bike on all 7 continents. At the moment my budget will not allow for the 7th continent and even with the funds in place is will be a challenge. However, I am a pretty determined lady if I may say so myself (some might say stuborn!) and with 20 weeks before I set off I am still pushing and trying to rally support. It was suggested by one of your members that I should put a link to allow for donations on here and so I am doing just that. I hope no one minds and please feel free to ignore it but any donations would be very gratefully received. Also as I am working on a very tight budget and wild camping a lot of the time, I would be very grateful too for any offers of hospitality on route or suggestions for roads/trails to check out along the way. Even if you want to come and keep me company for a leg of the journey! That would be really cool! My blog address if you would like to take a look is stephmoto-adventurebikeblog.com Facebook www.facebook.com/OneWomanOneMotorbikeOneWorld?ref=hl To make a donation please click here. You will be directed to a paypal donation page. If the link doesn't work then please log in to your paypal and email donations to stephjeavons@gmail.com Thanks for taking an interest in my journey. Cheers Steph

  20. 2002 cr250 with 60 hours on piston. This is a re sleaved cylinder that got done 60 hours ago. Compression is the same 190psi since 0 hours. Rings do not have any grooves. The exhaust bridge is shiney in these 2 spots but can not catch my nail on it. I am pretty sure powerseal who did the nikasil job added a relief in the bridge will know for sure tomorrow when I've got ahold of them. I think it should be fine to run with a new piston for this desert season but would like some opnions.
  21. Where to ride? Where do you live?
  22. I bought a 1995 XR650L a couple weeks ago, and after seeing the wiring diagrams that were available online, I decided to create a more user-friendly version. If you see any errors, let me know. FYI, I will update this graphic as I make edits. Thanks
  23. When I bought my bike from my previous owner he had to horrible spray paint job on it, i'm just starting to get around to it and i really dont wanna take the engine out to repaint it (there is also remains of paint the the engine cover that I want to get off). Its a steel frame yz125 and i was wondering if anyone can help me get rid of the because if I take the engine out it will never go back in. Thanks
  24. Hello, The question that I see alot of people asking all over the internet. some think one way others say the other, but what I get from it, It depends on what riding your doing and where. So I would like your opinion, would it be better for me to get a YZ125 or a CR125 im 5'7'' and somewhere around 120 to 130 pounds. Im going to be doing mostly woods and trail riding. I am also looking at other bikes but this is just between the CR and YZ 125. Thanks
